season today. >> plus, how did it happen? new jersey troopers shoot a man after responding to a wrong home. family members are talking about what happened. >> more drenching downpours are on tap and some areas are under a flash flood warning. meteorologist chris sowers has a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. you have your eyes on the skies. >> reporter: some areas have picked up almost 6 inches of rain in about a two hour time span. we're starting to see the flooding now. fortunately a lot of it is beginning to wind down. there's the view of the center city skyline. we have a lot of low-level clouds even patchy fog. here we go as we flip it over to the radars we have heavier weather pushing off to the northeast. there's ocean county, hunterdon county are the two areas seeing the flash flood warnings. this is ocean county. this area around lacey picked up 5 1/2 close to 6 inches of rain.

the heaviest is drifting to the east, lbi. surf city to beach haven seeing heavy downpours, seaside heights point pleasant beach, seeing more downpours. this is for central ocean county, lacey, toms river. the bulls eye was northwest of lacey everything is starting to wind down. that's good news there. clouds limited sun, similar to yesterday, more showers and thunderstorms are expected, although it's not expected to be as busy as what we saw yesterday. these are going to be pop up storms that 89 will feel like 93, 94 with the oppressive amount of humidity. we have showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, those could produce flooding problems, i'll be back in a few minutes with the latest from the seven-day forecast. >> the overnight storms wreaked

havoc in some areas. look at this, a tree snapped and fell on to a parked suv between 10th and 11th street on south street. nobody was inside the suv at the time. well, police had to block off part of the road in strawberry plans overnight after trees and wires came tumbling down. this happened on the 2300 block of strawberry mansion drive. the tree blocked arch on the northbound side of the strawberry mansion bridge on the mlk drive side. i would like to remind you, you can keep track of the rainy conditions at 6abc.com/weather. when you're there you will get a live look at storm tracker 6 live double scan radar at any time of the day as well as seven-day forecast. our team of meteorologists will be posting the latest weather date along with your picture on their facebook pages. this morning federal investigators are heading to the scene of the nation's single deadliest hot air balloon accident. >> 16 people were killed when

their hot air balloon hit power lines and plunged to the ground in texas. elizabeth hur is in texas with the latest. this morning the hunt for answers intensifying at the site of the country's worst hot air balloon crash ever. >> you could see all their heads, there were a lot of people in there. >> reporter: joe and other stunned eyewitnesses captured these pictures seeing the balloon flying low over the farmland, moments later a disaster leaving 16 people dead. >> i heard a whoosh. >> you could tell it was a fire, a big ball of flames. >> reporter: according to the to authorities, the balloon burst into flames saturday morning after possibly hitting power lines and plunging to the ground in lockhart texas. >> we have a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

>> reporter: the balloon operated by heart of texas air balloon rides. this was a large balloon 8500 cubic meters, mean it could carry 16 people. so what went wrong? investigators say it's too soon for answers, but it was two years ago safety investigators raised concerns calling for regulation of the balloon tour industry, but the regulations were not increased by the faa. that was elizabeth hur reporting, we're following this breaking news out of texas, as well. one woman is dead three others hurt after an overnight shootings in downtown austin. police responded to the entertainment district after 2:00 a.m. a gunman began firing into the crowd after a disturbance. one woman died at the scene. three other women were taken to the hospital with gunshot

wounds. police are searching for the suspect stay with "action news" and 6abc.com for the latest developments. new this morning, 6 people are in the hospital after two accidents on roosevelt boulevard. action cam was at the scene, the southbound lanes of roosevelt boulevard fox street in the east falls section of philadelphia. just before 2:00 a.m. this morning several people were standing outside of their cars after an accident when another car went through the area hitting 6 of them. the victims were sent to three different hospitals, they are all in stable condition. police continue to investigate, so far no charges have been filed. also new, a man is in the hospital after being shot on a porch in philadelphia's feltonville section. this happened around 11:30 on the 4800 block of north pelworth street. a man was shot in the chest and taken to the hospital in serious condition no versus abdomin

made. a 76-year-old man is recovering after he was shot by new jersey state troopers. this happened while the officers were responding to a 911 call, but somehow they ended up at the wrong home. the new jersey attorney general is investigating the case. "action news" reporter, jeff chirico spoke with the victim's family. >> reporter: there are many unanswered questions about how this unfolded. gerald sykes family said he was miracle trying to perfect his home and wife. >> what was the first response to pump four rounds through the door? these are the three shots. >> reporter: as he shows us the holes from the bullets that nearly killed his father-in-law jerry sykes. just before midnight sykes and his wife were awaken the by their dogs barks. they stepped into the great room and saw two figures standing up

against the door, nothing said no identification. >> she said her step dad was standing in the living room holding his shotgun when police fired four shots. >> after he collapsed on the floor, he lifted the gun up and shot one shot out the door not knowing who was there. >> reporter: police are not saying who shot first, the family said they treated him like a criminal refusing to get him medical treatment for 45 minutes until he staggered outside and flipped him over and had you ever had him. police say the troppers responding to a 911 call we bet to the wrong home. a statement said he identified himself, but the family doesn't buy it pointing out that jerry had respect for police and didn't know it until he was in the hospital. both officers were taken to the hospital and released.

we're told one had a graze wound the attorney general's office is investigating. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> we have learned that a viewing will takes place tomorrow evening for a philadelphia firefighter who died on duty. gabriel lee's viewing will be held tonight. he was found unresponsive engine 50 fire station in north philadelphia. the 17 year veteran had fought a fire earlier in the day. the cause of death has not been released. from our new jersey newsroom flames gutted an ocean county store that's been in business for almost 4 decades. the fire started on the 400 block of main street in west creek. it took crews several hours to get a handle on it. nobody was hurt. no clear what caused the fire. eagles fans are flocking to the linc today for the team's first open practice of the season. gates opened about an hour ago,

since the last "harry potter" release. they are diehards. >> speaking of a comeback, rain is coming back. >> reporter: i was going to ask how many movies are in the series, 30? just what we need another "harry potter" movie. >> i'll google it. >> reporter: you google that and we'll figure out -- figure it out. >> reporter: there's the view over penns landing, let's go over to double scan live, most of it is confined well east of philadelphia. we're zoom into ocean county where you can see south of seaside heights, actually it's over surf city and most of lbi east of the garden state parkway reporting heavy rain. look at the rainfall totals. keep in mind this is this is in about an hour and a half, two hour time span. they picked up 6 inches in two

hours that would be the equivalent of 60 inches of snow in two hours. this is central ocean county. here's the parkway, the eastern side of the parkway, towards chads worth 3 inches of rain. because of this, national weather service has issued a flash flood warning this will remain in effect until 11:00 a.m. for central ocean county from lake view to toms river and the west of seaside heights up to 5 or 6 inches of rain has fallen. another area of concern is off to the northwest. even though things have quited down in upper bucks county and hunterdon county we have seen a lot of rain. this is north of flemming ton. rainfall rates have easily exceeded 2, 3 inches. doylestown 2.8 inches of rain.

now we have another flash flood warning for most of hunterdon county until 12:15. the good news a lot of heavy rain is starting to pull away at this point and there's the break. if you look off to the lower left-hand side of the screen. there's the break or the lull in the action we've been promising you all morning. we'll continue to see this over the next half-hour to 45 minutes. and then we get into the break in the first part of the afternoon. more rain develops after the downpours after 2 or 3:00 p.m. for areas north of philadelphia. we have an extremely high dewpoint most of the region is close to 80. 4:30 more showers and thunderstorms expected. you can see the coverage is not as widespread as yesterday. these thunderstorms will produce drenching downpours overnight tonight. more showers and thunderstorms possible. first thing tomorrow morning we won't see the heavy drenching downpours, we'll see low level clouds and patchy dense fog and drizzle which will give way to

showers and thunderstorms late in the day, and more heavy drenching downpours. what you need to know over the next 48 hours. there will be more downpours this afternoon, but not as active as yesterday. it will be easier to handler. nonetheless you get underneath one of these downpours expect one to two inches of rain or more which could create flooding issues. clouds, limited sun today. extremely humid, it will feel like miami. thunderstorms likely this this afternoon, 89 degrees will feel like 93 or 94. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, 88 degrees monday, partly sunny, more showers and thunderstorms developing late in the day. tuesday, 84, humidity drops off during the late afternoon. and wednesday and thursday, look nice, 84, 86 lots of sun and no humidity. >> it will feel great. >> can barely remember it. >> thank you so much. 9 17 take a look at this. flash flooding in baltimore, maryland trapped dozens inside

morning, let's get caught up the forecast for the shore, the poconos, the poconos 400, there will be showers and thunderstorms around. otherwise, cloudy, 76 very muggy degrees. we'll see if we can get the race in all right. the jersey shore, you missed out on the showers storms yesterday. today you'll not be so lucky. some sun this afternoon, lots of clouds, 85 degrees on the sand. seas 2 to 3 feet. look at the ocean temperature, 74 to 77 degrees. the good news is with all the clouds, at least the burn index is on the low side.

>> happening right now on "action news," a man is rushed to the hospital after an overnight stabbing in philadelphia's frankford section. >> shots are fired at police officers in lancaster county and this morning two teenagers are facing charges. plus, democrats and republicans are criticizing donald trump after his comments about a fallen muslim soldier's family. >> first, chris sowers is outside shaking it off with the accuweather forecast. chris it is hot and sticky, we have showers in the forecast. >> reporter: this is why i don't live in florida because of what it is like right now. dewpoints in the 70s we have had a lot of heavy downpours this morning. let's go over to the radars, the good news it's out of the city it's pushing into the less populated suburbs of southern new jersey, mainly the pine barrens, everything is southwest to northeast. still reporting heavy downpours

across lbi and a lot of it is working out to sea. central ocean county there's a flood warning in effect. lacey, lakehurst, seaside heights. ocean county airport reported 5.6 inches of rain. manchester township they are reporting flooding along route 530 now that the rainoff is taking -- runoff is taking place we'll see more flooding over the next hour or two. the flood watch is in effect for the next hour or two. highest rainfall was over 6 inches north of lacey. we'll catch a break in the action in the early morning hours into the afternoon. with the sun expect to see pop you are showers and thunderstorms again. high temperatures around 89. with the oppressive humidity it will feel like 93 or 94.

disrespect gold star families. he struggled to hold back his anger saying trump is void of decency and has a dark heart. you can see trump's interview on this week with george stephanopoulos at 6abc at 10:30. a 67-year-old man south jersey man is in critical, but stable condition after state troopers went to the wrong address and shot him through the front door of his house. late friday night, jerry sykes thought intruders were trying to get into his upper deerfield home he grabbed his shotgun and went to the front door. that's when troopers shot four times at sykes hitting him in the chest. his daughter and son-in-law said the troopers never identified themselves. >> his eyes got as big as salsaers -- saucers and said

what? they were state troopers? they never gave me a warning. >> he shot one shot through the door and grazed one of the officers. the family said troopers treated sykes like a criminal not getting him medical treatment for 45 minutes. police say the troppers did identify themselves. >> it is 9:36 two teenagers face attempted murder charges after firing shots at police in lancaster county. the teens are accused of shooting at police vehicles as they were responded to a 911 call about gunshots. this happened early friday morning in columbia borough. investigators say the teens fired at 4 officers. lancaster county d.a. said the officers were the intended target it is amazing that no one was injured or killed. police have now charged the 16-year-old son of former nfl player antonio armstrong of the murder of armstrong and his wife

dawn. this shooting happened inside the family home in houston, texas. friends and neighbors are shocked over the murders. they say they were a model family and police said they were never called to the family home. armstrong was a linebacker for the miami dolphins. here at home, families are coming together to reflect on gun violence. trish hartman has more. >> reporter: people filed into this north philadelphia funeral home signing the guest book and reflecting in front of a coffin this is not just a memorial for one person or one family. >> we're able to unite with other families that have suffered the same tragedy. >> reporter: anti-gun violence memorial organized by the operation save our city and the healing blanket project comes after three people were shot and killed in a span of 12 hours. a coffin filled with bullet

hd it's gray and gloomy overlooking the ben franklin bridge, lots of low-level clouds, but things are starting to dry out. we have flash flood warnings in effect the first one for hunterdon county up to 12:15 we've seen 2 to 3 inches of rain. more serious situation is in central ocean county, manchester, lacey and toms river. some areas have seen up to 35 or 6 inches of rain. it's still raining a little bit now across eastern portions of ocean county. there's a cell pushing out of the cumberland county into cape may county. we'll zoom into seaside heights, the heavier rain fell south of lakehurst. belmawr, point plenty beach, seaside heights reporting rain and steadier stuff across lbi and surf city. that's the last of it for now, it's exiting stage right.

when another car went through the area and hit 6 of them. the victims were sent to three different hospital. they are in stable condition. police continue to investigate. so far there are no charges. also new a man is in the hospital after being shot on a porch in philadelphia's feltonville section. it happened around 11:30 p.m. last night. the man was shot in the fest chest and taken to the hospital in serious condition. no arrests have been made. 10:05. a 76-year-old man is recovering after he was shot by new new jey state troopers. this happened when officers were responding to a 911 call. somehow they ended up at the wrong home. new jersey attorney general investigating the case. jeff chirico spoke with the victim's family. >> there are many unanswered questions about how this unfolded. gerald sykes family said he is a grandfather who was trying to
