surveillance video trying to find the killer on the loose. new concerns about what's being called unlivable and unsanitary conditions at the olympic village in rio where the world's greatest athletes will be staying. the conditions are forcing some on team usa to jump ship. we do say good morning, america. are you ready to go to rio. >> i'll be on a plane to rio this time tomorrow. >> bring some water. >> all eyes are on the olympics opening up in a couple of days and the opening ceremony, well, there is a lot of concern about how the conditions are shaping up there. we'll have -- >> except yours. >> i survived sochi. i can survive rio. we'll figure it out. >> airbnb. >> that is coming up. but first breaking news. crash landing at one of the world's busiest airports in dubai. you see the jetliner engulfed in smoke. 300 people evacuated.

and our aviation correspondent david kerley is tracking all the latest. >> reporter: the airline is not giving us a lot of details about what actually happened but clear it was landing and then something went terribly wrong. these are the first frightening pictures of the emirates jet just after it crash landed on a runway at dubai international airport. huge plumes of smoke. so what happened was this plane hit the runway. we see that it's on its belly and the emergency chutes have been deployed. now, emirates is telling us that everybody on board, there were 282 passengers and 18 crew were able to get off this aircraft. you see the emergency crews showed up and there was a huge plume of smoke. we don't know about fire but with that much smoke you have to think there was fire, as well. what's unclear if the plane appears to be on its belly without landing gear. but we just listened to the

radio conversations coming into the airport on this flight from southern india into dubai and the pilots say they're cleared to land and ready to go. no indication that the landing gear had not deployed so something happened as this 777 was coming down on to the runway in dubai. >> so many questions still out there. what do we know about the safety record of the 777? >> the 777 is a very safe aircraft, george. now there have been incidents in the past couple of years of three of them, there is one in san francisco where it was pilot error and landed short of the runway, mh370 still missing someplace in the indian ocean and this rare craft where it looks like the fuselage is severely damaged but all have been pilot error not the aircraft. it's a very safe aircraft. >> thanks very much. >> glad everybody is okay. now to the race for the white house. and that new trouble for donald trump. the republican nominee going head-to-head with top members of his own party as president obama calls him, quote, unfit for the presidency. abc's cecilia vega has the latest. good morning, cecilia.

>> reporter: good morning. what happened in the last 4 hours for donald trump reads like a checklist of political don'ts. 'managed to anger party leaders, anger vet, even moms with baby, yes, babies. donald trump may be the republican nominee but this morning he is at war with his own party, not just refusing to endorse two of the gop's highest ranking members in their state primaries, house speaker paul ryan and senator john mccain. >> never been a big fan of john mccain and i just hate the way our veterans have been treated by john and other people. >> reporter: trump also coming under fire for this move at a virginia rally. >> a man came up to me and he handed me his purple heart. >> reporter: trump who never served in the military then said -- >> i always wanted to get the purple heart. this was much easier. >> reporter: he even raised eyebrows for booting out a

crying baby. at first saying -- >> don't worry about that baby. i love babies. i love babies. i hear that baby crying, i like it. >> reporter: but then -- >> actually i was only kidding. you can get the baby out of here. that's all right. don't worry. i think she really believed me that i love having a baby crying while i'm speaking. that's okay. >> reporter: this morning two high-profile republican supporters announcing they will not vote for trump. hewlett-packard ceo meg whitman and new york congressman richard hanna both saying they will break ranks and support hillary clinton. overnight ivanka trump forced to defend her father's comments on sexual harassment said if his own daughter faced harassment she would find another job. >> i think sexual harassment is inexcusable in any setting. >> reporter: president obama also piling on with his strongest attack yet. >> he's woefully unprepared to

do this job. >> reporter: suggesting gop leaders should withdraw their endorsement of trump. >> there has to be a point at which you say, this is not somebody i can support for president of the united states. there has to come a point at which you say enough. >> reporter: well, so far none of the gop leadership is defecting as a result of that call from president obama but we do now know overnight rnc chairman reince priebus called donald trump to express frustration with how his campaign is handling its messaging and now the clinton campaign is pouncing making a concentrated effort to target republicans and pick up some of these vote, george. >> so much going on there, cecilia. let's talk about with our political analyst jon karl and matthew dowd and let me begin with you. we say this a lot. we've never seen anything like this. but you have panic at the top ranks of the republican party. trump seems to be at war with the entire party establishment. right now you're reporting something startling. senior officials inside the republican party actually exploring what to do if trump drops out. >> this is absolutely

unprecedented. first of all, i am told rnc chairman reince priebus is furious he has had multiple discussions with trump telling him he needs to drastically change course. here's the news, i am told senior officials at the party are actively exploring what would happen if trump dropped out. how to replace him on the ballot. the answer, george, is they can't force him out. he would have to go out voluntarily then it would be the 168 members of the rnc through a complicated process that would pick a new candidate. it would have to happen by early september. >> they think that's a real possibility. >> he is so unpredictable right now. he is -- they are so unable to control his message that they just don't know and clearly think it is a possibility which is why they're looking at these rules. >> matthew dowd, let's look at the calculation for other republican leaders. so far paul ryan even though he's not endorsed by donald trump, john mccain meeting with mike pence overnight, the vice presidential candidate but not rescinding his endorsement either. at what point do the calculations change? >> well, i think that's a really

good question, george. i think first of all there is a question of principle. is this the candidate they want to stand by in the course of this as a principled stand and seem to have answered that which is yes. i think at some point if he deteriorates, let's keep in mind he's still within shouting distance of hillary clinton after all of this. we haven't seen the results of the last 24 hours, but, george, donald trump reminds me of the movie "tin cup" where the kevin costner character keeps dropping the ball and hitting it in the lake and ends up on the 13th hole where the crowd is watching. we are watching it unfold in a way we've never seen before. >> one of the reasons, jon karl, some of the republicans still standing by trump, it appears that he still has some ability to raise some money for them. >> he does and, george, i have to say the frustration is especially deep because they believe that hillary clinton looks vulnerable, exactly as matthew said and had a bad few days, the dnc has gone through a whole shake-up. she misstated what that director said about her e-mails.

one top official told me if trump had gone on vacation for the past two weeks, he would be in the lead. but, yes, he can still raise money and still has support among the republican rank and file. >> it appears to be masking hillary clinton's weaknesses, matt. >> it does. two flawed characters, candidates in the course of this with the highest unfavorability rating we've seen in a presidential contest and environment that helps donald trump. i think that's what most frustrates republicans in this. they think this is that perfect time to capture the white house and they have somebody that keeps committing pilot error in the course of this day in and day out. >> okay, matthew dowd, jon karl, thanks very much. to robin. >> all right, george, now to the monsoon in the southwest. flash floods sparking hundreds of evacuations and water rescues. ginger, of course, is here with the latest on that. >> hey, good morning. phoenix, arizona, averages about an inch of rain in the entire month of august. yesterday spots around phoenix did that in two hours and doubled it so that's why you have pictures just like that.

the tropical moisture fueling that monsoon and the threat still there today. flash floods shutting down i-17 in phoenix, arizona. up to 2 inches of rain in an hour stranding cars. water rescues and muddy mayhem has people try to drive through. >> it happened so fast. you really don't have time to make a lot of decisions. >> reporter: more than 200 students evacuating this school, water filling the hallways. so we are on flash flood watch from las vegas to albuquerque today. parts of southwestern colorado as that moisture pulls up you can see another 2 to 3 inches very quickly fall in isolated spots. >> thanks. we get the latest on the battle against seek kachlt another locally transmitted case has been discovered in florida. this time outside the containment zone and authorities are now using planes to battle the mosquitoes. abc's eva pilgrim is on the scene in miami. good morning, eva. >> reporter: good morning, george. this is the front line in the fight against zika.

now, even though the county is spraying people are hiring private contractors like mosquito joe that you see behind me to get these mosquitoes before they bite. this morning, the fight against zika in south florida also a battle with mother nature. high winds and heavy rains grounding the planned aerial assault that was supposed to start this morning. the county needing optimal conditions to drop pesticides from the sky over a ten square-mile zone north of downtown miami. >> mosquitoes are just tough. >> mcs are tough. man has been battling mosquitoes for over 100,000 years. >> reporter: mosquito control also beefing up their ground effort tripling the number of inspectors going door to door, so far, 15 people contracting zika from infected mosquitoes in south florida. this clinic in the hot zone now expanding who they are testing for the virus. >> we're testing every pregnant woman that comes through my

desk. >> they're all getting the blood test. >> whether they have symptoms or no symptoms at all. >> reporter: melissa well cher is due to give birth later this month taking every precaution wearing long sleeves and pants. >> i just had an ultrasound that was definitely a big relief knowing that the baby is okay. >> reporter: this morning concerns zika could rattle the sunshine state's tourism industry, a major fuel to its economy. some airlines jetblue, delta and southwest aren't charging fees for customers changing their plans. for those making the flight, they're taking every precaution. >> kind of scared to come here. i was trying to switch my flight in we'll be using a lot of bug repellent and that's the best we can do right now. i had to come. >> reporter: the daily downpours are also causing these puddles you see here. this is prime mosquito breeding ground and that's also making the fight against these mosquitoes harder and having to be constant, robin. >> all that standing water.

eva, thank you. now to a troubling development out of north korea. seoul and tokyo offs say the north fired a ballistic missile into the sea that landed near japan's territorial waters making it one of the longest launches for the north korean test. bob woodruff is there. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning, robin. yes, u.s. strategic command says that, in fact, two missiles were launched southwest of here, one of them exploding just after launch. the other flying about 600 miles into the sea off of japan. today, one of north korea's top officials gave us their first, their very first u.s. tv interview in more than a decade claiming these rocket launches were self-defense against the nuclear threat, accusing the united states of what he called nuclear blackmail. we traveled down to the border with south korea home to 28,000 american troops, north korea says it now considers itself at war with the united states after

washington imposed sanctions on its leadership including kim jong-un for civil rights abuses. >> i know you'll stay on top of this. amy has the mother top stories starting with a big cash payout to iran. >> a bombshell report this morning that claims the obama administration secretly sent $400 million in cash to iran just as the iranians freed four american prisoners back in january. the state department denies it was ransom and says that cash was all part of a settlement stemming from a failed arms deal from 1979. officials tell "the wall street journal" iranian negotiators wanted the cash as a sign of good faith. well, yet another dangerous wildfire has erupted in california. this time near wine country. the fire exploding to nearly 2,000 acres overnight prompting evacuations near the city of winters. meanwhile, an illegal campfire is now blamed for sparking that deadly fire near big sur which has destroyed 57 homes.

new details about this charter bus crash near fresno, tuesday. five people killed. dozens injured when a bus hit a sign pole which sliced through the cabin. a passenger claims just before the crash another driver refused to let the bus merge into the passing lane essentially running it off the road. well, a rare moment in the major leagues last night in philadelphia. the umpire angry over a heckler in the stands took the unusual step of ejecting that fan from the game. he had been apparently yelling sexual references so you know what, the crowd cheered that decision and the ump said something quite funny. it's not every day that the home crowd applauds his decisions. finally an olympic gymnast is flipping out over his phone bill all because of pokemon go. kohei uchimura of japan has been playing pokemon since arriving in rio but, see, he didn't realize he was racking up huge roaming charges to the tune of

that. >> that just ahead. communities are in shock and mourning holding a candlelight vigil after two teenagers were found dead. abc's steve osunsami is in roswell, georgia, with the latest. good morning, steve. >> reporter: good morning to you, robin. we're at the high school of one of the murdered teens and students here return to classes here, investigators struggle with what to tell them. this morning families in suburban atlanta are worried for their children with police now saying that the two 17-year-olds found dead behind a grocery store were murdered. >> well, it's very scary. you want to think that your kids are safe at all times, but you just don't ever know. >> reporter: a delivery driver found the bodies of natalie henderson and carter davis near two vehicles early monday morning. investigators are now looking at video from surveillance cameras aimed at the parking lot where they were found hoping for clues. >> it is obvious both suffered

head trauma. >> reporter: the medical examiner says each died interest a single gunshot wound to the head. for now police say it wasn't drugs or suicide but calling it a relationship-based killing. natalie henderson was about to start her senior year at roswell high where she's performing here in the color guard. ♪ her mother gave us these senior class photos that she sat for just last week and says her daughter was our beautiful shining girl, a free spirit with a gorgeous smile that could make your day or your week. davis was also starting his senior year at river ridge high school in a neighboring county where he played lacrosse. classes began on monday. >> it's devastating when you're so excited about all of your kids coming back to school and then you find out on the first day that something like this happens. don't quite understand it because he was a great kid. >> always funny, always smiling. >> reporter: friends of the two students held a vigil tuesday night. >> he was such a kid that was full of life, there was no

reason for him to be gone. >> reporter: this should be an exciting time for students at the beginning of the school year but instead we're told there will be grief counselors available at both high schools this morning. robin. >> incredibly tragic, steve, thank you. joining us former fbi special agent and abc news consultant brad garrett. why would the police assume, suspect this is relationship-based crime. >> think about location and that they had to be drawn to that particular place behind the grocery store, robin. so it appears to me this is a setup to bring them there and that they know the person or persons in some form or fashion. >> we heard in steve's report that both of the teens were shot once in the head killing them. what does that tell you about this crime? >> that the killer wanted them dead, probably knows them or has some relationship with them, so i think that's clearly the purpose of this and perhaps there's a revenge and/or send a

message factor to this. >> the surveillance video that they're poring over, hopefully that will give them some sort of idea of who did this. >> it should give them the moving parts. when the vehicles showed up how the shooter approached them or shooters and give them maybe a little bit more of a ticktock as to what went down behind this grocery store. >> hopefully they'll get some answers very soon. this is just incredibly tragic. brad, thanks. >> shocking. >> it is. move on to a new development after the death of "star trek" actor anton yelchin. his parents filing a wrongful death lawsuit against fiat size saying a flaw in their jeep cherokee caused it to roll backwards and kill their son. linsey davis has more on the story. >> reporter: they have complained they had trouble telling if the car was in park. many reported the vehicles rolled off after the driver ex-itted. yelchin received a safety recall notice in may and then another one the company had a fix just

days after his death in june. >> may i have your attention please. >> reporter: grieving parents of 27-year-old "star trek" actor anton yelchin are taking action filing a wrongful death lawsuit against fiat chrysler, the maker of the 2015 jeep grand cherokee that killed the young actor. >> we decided to come here to prevent other family for the same tragedy. >> reporter: just six weeks ago yelchin was crushed against a gate in his own driveway when his jeep rolled backwards trapping him. on tuesday his distraught mother fought back tears as she remembered her only son. >> always proud of him being greatest human being. >> reporter: in may fiat chrysler sent out this letter to jeep owners warning your vehicle may roll away striking and injuring you. if the vehicle's engine is left running the parking brake is not engaged and the vehicle is not in the park position before

exiting the vehicle. you can see here how the lever can cause confusion. no matter what gear you're in, it springs back to the center. one week after the "star trek beyond" actor was killed, fiat chrysler sent out a letter announcing a fix for the defect recalling 1.1 million vehicles. >> the safety recall was way too little and way too late. we hope this lawsuit will teach them a lesson. >> reporter: fiat chrysler also released a statement tuesday night extending its sympathies to the yelchin family for their tragic loss. the company has not been served with a lawsuit and cannot comment further at this time. it's not clear just how much yelchin's parents are seeking in damages. a government investigation into the gearshifters found 68 people were injured in 266 crashes as of june. you can see that it is really confusing potentially with that gearshift and your heart breaks when you hear the mother talking about her only son. >> okay, linsey, thanks very much. over to lara. thank you very much, coming up on our big board the backlash

wouldn't allow herself to be subbed to it. this puts the focus in the wrong place, on the vic, not the harasser. >> absolutely right and there was a firestorm of outrage we heard pretty immediately from the women on fox news. gretchen carlson who filed that sexual harassment lawsuit against former fox news chairman roger ailes said, sad in 2016 we're still victim blaming women. trust me, i'm strong. and we also heard from fox news anchor megyn kelly who wondered with a one-word tweet, sigh. and that was widespread when donald trump says a woman could find another career, a woman who is a victim of sexual harassment, that is definitely not the voice of a champion of working women and people took note. >> yeah, absolutely. hey, tory, a lot have been given the advice, go to hr if there's a problem but you say that doesn't always work. why? >> it doesn't always work so hr doesn't work for you. hr is there for the protection of the company and you have to remember that. and so while hr is -- should be

charged and often is charged with enforcing zero tolerance policies around sexual harassment many times a woman who complains is suddenly pegged a problem and she faces consequences for that, so just keep that in mind. i think some of the immediate things that you can do first and foremost call it out immediately, many types people sort of think these days that they can say and do anything they please. they don't even realize what they're doing is wrong so if you are subjected to that, call it out as strongly as you feel comfortable doing. document the specifics. if you're going to file a claim ultimately of harassment your credibility will come into question and so you want to make sure you've got all your factors in writing lined up and, of course, you can and should report it and that could mean going to a trusted colleague for help. it could mean your supervisor or potentially hr if you don't get the help you need internally, you can file a complaint with the eeoc. you don't even need a lawyer to do that. can you do it yourself. and, of course, if you have the resources, consult an attorney about your rights and your

recourse. >> wow, lots of great information, tory, thank you so very much. want to move on now to a parenting alert about bounce houses. these are a birthday party staple but new research reveries the large inflatable castles and other shapes may pose major dangers for children, especially in the hot sun. dr. jen ashton is joining us live. what does this study say about heat-related problems with these? >> so, this is basically looking at the microclimate. think of a parked car in the summertime and found that the temperature difference inside these bouncy houses can be 4 to 7 degrees higher than ambient or temperature outside and the heat index in this study went as high as 117 degrees so when you think about the fact that kids can spend a decent amount of time in these, they really do open themselves up for the potential heat-related illness like heatstroke so it's something to be aware of. >> what should parents do about it? >> the awareness is key, number one. we've heard a lot about safety of these bounce houses recently. you want to make sure they're

tethered so they don't fly away. we've seen horrible stories of that and make sure the kids inside are roughly the same size and age as your child. you want to make sure it's clean and, again, if it's too hot for you to touch, it's too hot for the kids. that was an official statement from the consumer product safety commission so commonsense stuff. >> stick around for our next story. one we first brought yesterday, flossing. and the question is what is the deal with it? now the federal government is questioning the benefits of flossing and the american dental association is weighing in with a little response, i guess, dentists want to stick by their advice. >> well, listen, george, the ada has been advocating flossings since 1908 and they are sticking to their guns. this he tweeted which i think we have this tweet. they say, cleaning between your teeth is an essential part of taking care of your teeth and gum, exclamation point. they mean business and have a link also to a video trucking you how to do it. no one is saying that flossing is bad for you.

now exploring what to do if he suddenly drops out. trump is refusing to endorse house speaker paul ryan and senator john mccain as they run for re-election even though they've endorsed him and abc news has learned that trump got a call from rnc chairman reince priebus who is reportedly furious that the trump campaign is veering off message. trump is also under fire for his remarks after a veteran gave him his purple heart. >> i always wanted to get the purple heart. this was much easier. >> meanwhile, trump says he has no regrets about his response to the muslim parents of a soldier killed in iraq. last night khizr khan called trump a draft dodger and says he should return that purple heart. >> you had the time. you did not serve. you know what you should have done and listen to me and i want his surrogates to listen to me, you should have pinned that back to that veteran's chest and should have hugged him and thanked him. >> trump says he only criticized the khans after they attacked

him first. trump is also touting his foreign policy skills saying he knows far more about foreign policy than president obama. well, this morning the state department is denying that a shipment of cash to iran this year was ransom for the freedom of four american prisoners. "the wall street journal" reports the obama administration airlifted $400 million to iran just as the american prisoners were being released in january. but state department officials say the payment was part of a settlement stemming from a failed 1979 arms deal. well, a 15th case of locally transmitted zika virus has been confirmed in miami but today's plan to spray for mosquitoes had to be canceled because of bad weather there. many experts question the effectiveness of aerial spraying saying the mosquitoes that carry zika fly too close to the ground anyway. the 15th case is the first confirmed outside of that one scare mile district north of downtown miami. the most decorated olympian ever will carry the u.s. flag into friday's opening ceremony in rio.

small. too much but at the same time, not enough. it all started when graham posted this photo on instagram last week. commenters went on the attack for her seemingly smaller figure saying you want to conform to hollywood. you believe being skinnier is prettier. and i'm so disappointed in you. but graham shot back. when i post a photo from a good angle i receive criticism for looking smaller and selling out. when i post photos of my cellulite, stretch marks and rolls i'm accused of promoting obesity. the psych of body-shaming needs to end. i'm over it. >> it doesn't matter what size you are. doesn't matter if you have cellulite. >> she's made a number of appearances on "gma" encouraging women to embrace their bodies, cellulite and all taking the lead as a body activist saying why waste time and energy spewing negative tiflt. lease worry about our own bodies. my body is my body.

shape. hi, noah. >> hi. thank you so much for having me on. >> i'm so thrilled to have you. you're going to start by teaching this. what is had. >> a standard lunge. one of those basic movement patterns of our body that's really beneficial so people can get good at this. works your legs, works your core. >> ginger has not stopped. >> absurd. >> i want to ask you to show us on tv, give us another move. this one you say is called something jacked. >> this is a boxer jack. a play off of the old school jumping jack and warm up our hip flexors. a lot of times we have tension in our hips and give us lower back and knee pain. can we go for boxer jacks right here. right here. >> at home this is the boxer jack. >> this is the boxer jack. right here trying to get the hip flexors warped up and get us ready to do some more intensive work outs. >> i'm hurt so i'm letting ginger do it for me. >> i feel like my temperature has certainly raised. >> you're sweating over here. >> it's about core but, again,

it's about getting your body limber and ready to work out. need that modification you can't jump -- >> a lot are asking about a smaller version. >> just get the knee as high as you can and touch under. >> what makes your workout different? >> it's not about -- it's not about being different. it's about -- i like to go back to the basics. i think that we get so caught up in the hype nowadays of finding this new workout method that will get us fit quick. be good at the basics and being a master of those basic movements and i know you're going to get stronger from that. so it's almost like a paleo workout. talk about paleo. this is a regression. this is, all right, let's get really good at moving our body again and i know we'll get stronger without the hype. >> what is ginger now doing. >> the squat -- we're doing the combat squat. >> can't do this. i have a bum hip. >> this is the version. you squat -- if you don't squat and have a bad lower back, don't take it as low. you can hit the four punches and bring it up as high as you can.

work within your range of motion. work within your body's limitation. >> are we squeezing the core at all times. ginger, you look like you're working your core. >> the most important thing about any movement is keeping your back protected. keeping what's called your spinal integrity in check so we want to keep our core engaged and don't want to get lax and keep a lot of tension in our body when we work out when we lift weights or do calisthenics. >> three moves you say can make a difference even if you do one day a week. >> we did the squat jacks, you can do those for 30 second sets. 30-second sets. >> how many sets. >> we'll do this whole thing about three to four sets. so just again for beginners, as you start to progress you do more. 30 seconds of those jacks then 30 seconds of those squats with the rotation. we're going 30 seconds right here, those combat squats. then the last move, this is a boot camp classic, it's how we do burpees in here. the combat burpees. >> you seem way too happy. >> i love a good burpee.

>> the burpees are a great way to hit our body from head to toe. efficiency but practical. i'll show you the regression. don't get caught up in the hype. throw four punches and hit one push-up and we're going to jump up. so i'll do it full time then i'll slow it down for you that might need modification. one, two, three, four, hit the push-up then jump up. flippinging sweat all over. if you need that modification again, take it a little bit slower, get that punch form, take it low, step your feet back. >> then take a nap. >> step your feet back into the mask position and either go down to your knees for the push-up or forgo the push-up if your upper body isn't there and step it forward making sure you're standing up with your legs not your lower back and reach up. >> that's great. >> two different layers for two different styles. no reason we can't all get moving. >> ginger zee. >> yes. >> great workout. >> any time you do a burpee, you'll sweat immediately.
