i.r.s. agents were in and out of these two homes for hours today. that of union leader john dock he tea and his sister. the investigation is wrapped up for now and both dock he tea and the union say they have nothing to hide. as agents searched his home and brought out evidence in boxes, local 98 leader john dougherty chatted with neighbors and friends several of whom were wearing ibew shirts. when he spoke to the media he emphasized his efforts in the community. >> i clean streets. last week i was on the roof walking by cleaning out gutters because of heavy rain. >> reporter: he and his lawyer looked through paperwork on the sidewalk and bottles of water and refreshments were passed around until the agents let's him back insides. he said he's cooperating fully and says nothing in his home has changed since the last time his home was raided in 2006 in an alleged tax fraud investigation. he was not charged after that raid. >> i represent working middle class people. >> reporter: dougherty's pub on second street in south

philadelphia was also raided today and dozens upon dozens of boxes of evidence were removed from the local 98 union hall and headquarters at 17th and spring garden. that's where union representatives frank keel spoke with "action news." >> it's somewhat surprising as i was just saying this union local 98 is subject to multiple external annual audits and reviews of their finances. >> reporter: the fbi says a number of warrants were served at multiple locations today but wouldn't go into detail about the nature of the investigation. former federal prosecutor george perry says because the offices of city council councilman bobby henon were raided as well political corruption and mismanaged funds could be at the heart of this investigation. >> presumably this is as it usually is a search for the money, you know, where are these funds going, whatever the funds are. >> reporter: now, perry also says in order for a federal warrant to be issued the fbi has to show probable cause that a crime is being

committed and that a search will turn up evidence to prove that crime. now, the fbi is asking anyone with information pertinent to this case to contact them at 215-418-4000. live in south philadelphia, trish hartman channel6 "action news." >> thank you, trish. now to "action news" reporter john rawlins live at philadelphia city hall with more on dougherty's connection to top ranking city officials. john. >> reporter: hi, monica. for years john dougherty has worked hard to mold the political landscape to his liking. he's put friends and allies in high places and city hall is no exception. johnny doc is a philadelphia political power house from his offices at local 98 now ringed with yellow crime scene tape and via various pax he he has reportedly channeled million in campaign funds to those he wants in office or on the bench. 10 federal agents targeted in carry out boxes and computers from the city hall offices of one very close dougherty ally, city councilman bobby henon.

henon also a long time local 98 official. efforts to reach henon unsuccessful so far. someone was at his house this afternoon but not talking to reporters. dougherty reportedly helped direct large amounts of donations to the 2015 campaign of mayor jim kenney. today the mayor said he knows nothing about today's multiple raids on henon and doc doughert. >> i know basically what you know. as it plays out we'll see what happens but i don't have any other information and you can ask the question 20 different ways but there won't be any comment because i don't have any information. >> reporter: dougherty supported others on city council including mark squilla who says he too is in the dark. >> i really don't know. it would be unfair to comment on something i really don't know about. i'm not sure why they're there and what they're looking for. >> reporter: henon is the majority leader of council. colleague curtis jones was asked if the fbi city hall raid worries him. >> they could be there for a hundred different reasons. i don't know what those reasons are and time will tell what those reasons are.

until then i presume my majority leader is doing his job. >> reporter: well, a spokesperson for council president darrell clarke said today given all this is an ongoing investigation that the council president will have no comment at this time. s are been a curious day monica, there's been a lot of high profile activity on the part of law enforcement. a lot of questions but few answers. live at city hall john rawlins channel6 "action news. >> dann cuellar continues our team coverage from berlin camden county with exclusive video of today's investigation there. dann. >> reporter: monica, the feds just wrapped up here. they had been here for most of the day as part of this sweeping johnny doc tea investigation. this warehouse belongs to mjk electrical. its web site says he they do business with several local government agencies among others. and only "action news" was here as agents removed weapons including five rifles from the warehouse. they he removed boxes and

boxes of material. now initially explosives experts from the bomb squad were called to investigate what was thought to be explosive materials but it's unclear what if any explosives were found. sources are telling us this investigation began years ago involving a broad scope of alleged activity. they've been monitoring bank accounts, i.r.s. tax filings, phone records as part of this significant investigation. in all, about a dozen search warrants are being executed today involving the union boss johnny doc as he's known among political circles in philadelphia first came under the fed's radar 10 years ago but he has never been charged with anything. he's been the head of local 98 since 1993 and last year he took over the philadelphia building and constructions trade council which has over 40,000 members. that is the very latest on this investigation. we'll have more later on "action news." for now live here in berlin, new jersey, i'm dann cuellar channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you, dann. we are continuing to follow this story for you on

our web side. you can get the latest developments as they come in on 6abc.com and our social media feeds. a ruling from the pennsylvania supreme court today means attorney general kathleen kane will head to trial next week. kane requested the high court take up her claim that the grand jury investigation targeting her was unlawful and unconstitutional. today the state supreme court denied that request. jury selection in norristown is scheduled to begin monday morning. we won't know until sunday if philadelphia's criminal justice center will be opened for business monday morning. yesterday an elevator accident in the building sent two people to the hospital. sergeant paul owens a sheriff's deputy remains in critical condition at hahnemann university hospital. beverly smith a court clerk was rehe loose released yesterd. testing will consider through the weekend. delaware state police are looking for the man who robbed a wawa at gun point in claymont. around 9:30 the man walked into the store at namaans and ridge roads and demanded

money. collide jennifer was in the store when that robbery happened. >> i thought he was going to shoot -- shoot one of them girls. >> the thief did escape in a silver ford focus and hit two vehicles as it left the parking lot. new at 6:00 a traffic project in the garden state is causing big backups for 50,000 drivers every day. and it's causing even bigger trouble for businesses surrounded by that construction. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has that story now from flemington. >> everyone doesn't even yield they just keep going, tractor-trailers block it so it's real difficult situation driving out here. >> reporter: here is the flemington circle where routes 202, 31 and 12 meet. the state is in the middle of an $11 million project to reconfigure the circle but the construction is having a terrible effect on nearby businesses. >> this is the absolute worst thing that can happen for any small businessman. >> reporter: john paulson runs flemington yam la on the circle. he says walk in customers have disappeared since the project

started. >> we're keeping our core business but any people that are looking and wander to just stop by because it was formerly convenient to pull in here it is no longer convenient. >> reporter: next door at the dunkin' donuts they say business is down 60 percent and they're losing about $15,000 a week. they are now cutting back on hours and employees. >> you look at the number it's -- >> reporter: you're down. >> yes. >> reporter: managers say the place would normally be packed but with heavy equipment operating right out front customers are staying away. >> i used tainting through here probably several days a week and now i mean, it's been a couple weeks and i realized how are he they even staying opened with thissism bills at the nearby sts tire store is reportedly down 35 percent. new jersey state transportation officials say they've put up signs and created driveways so customers can get to the businesses and point out there's access to most stores from behind. but you've got to be careful when you're turning in that you don't collide with heavy machinery. >> very, very confusing.

>> the stage is set and the crowds are ready for 10 days of music and fun in the lehigh valley. musikfest just got under way about an hour ago in bethlehem and "action news" reporter jeff chirico lie in the middle of the fun at the festival with more on opening night. hi, jeff. >> reporter: hi monica. things just getting under way. let's take a look behind me a few folks trickling in right now. things started -- the festival started at 5:00 p.m. you can seafood stands and rides for the kids, the zip line for kids and adults alike. lots of fun here to be had over the next ten days. the main draw of course more than a dozen music stages with hundreds of performers.

>> ♪ >> reporter: straight from their "gma" performance in new york city this morning x ambassadors headline music fest tonight. this afternoon workers were busy preparing for the 10 day festival that's expected to draw a million visitors including some who stopped by early. >> he we kind of wanted to walk around to get a general feel of like what's going to be here for when we come later. >> reporter: it's quiet now but this and this evening other stages will be packed over the next 10 days with free music from nearly 400 different acts. >> we've got about nine public performances but if you like side company celtic pop rap everything is whoever that's one of the beauties of musikfest. >> reporter: another beauty the food everything from sausage sandwiches to funnel cake. >> we have fried butter. not kidding we have fried butter which is deliciousism big name acts like lady ander bell lum and sabrina carpenter take the stage next week a jam

pay for 17 projects. some include adding a seconds loop to the navy yard shuttle and 10 new bus stations along the roosevelt boulevard. plans to restore the s.s. united states have gone out to sea. the ship has spent the last two decades docked in philadelphia. the crystal cruises luxury travel company says it wanted to overhaul that ship with a price tag of $700 million but the company now says the project is not realistic. instead they'll donate $350,000 to the group that owns the ship. there's one place where america's

>> ducis is here with sports. eagles getting banged up. >> we were worried this would be a boring eagles training camp. careful what you wish for. injuries becoming a major story line and that's never a good thing. jeff skversky has the injury report. >> reporter: talk about a sight for sore eyes after missing the first week of camp with injuries eagles running back ryan matthews and right guard brandon brooks finally hit the field for practice today.

>> we both feel like rehab buddies in there. the whole time. >> i felt good kind of chomping at the bit to get out here the past two days. i've been out here running and stuff. >> reporter: while the eagles get a few starters back today they lose others wide receiver jordan matthews and zach ertz leave with minor injuries. marcus smith suffered a concussion. not to mention they were without jason peters and malcolm jenkins today after they suffered injuries yesterday. you have to wonder if all the live hitting in camp is catc catching up to them. >> that's the way it is many people flying around competing. people getting tweaked up. >> football is a contact sport. this is going to happen. whether it happens today or thursday night it's part of the game and i'm -- i'm a big believer you never shy away from contact. >> reporter: while eagles coach doug pederson says he's not second guessing his decision to live hit in camp ertz who was cleared of a concussion today is not happy with all the low hits he's taken the last few days. >> you can't second guess the coaching that's first and foremost. i think that's when you have

>> time for the all important weekend forecast from accuweather. meteorologist cecily tynan here with changes. >> yeah, you step outside you can already feel that the humidity is increasing and that's going to be the rule tonight and tomorrow hot and humid and stormy late in the day as well. storm tracker6 live double scan showing tonight's very quiet. we don't have anything on storm tracker kind of the calm before the storms been a pretty nice beach day. we're live on sky6 taking a look in atlantic city. but the swells are up and we have had a problem all week long with that easterly flow. there's been a lot of water rescues due to rip tides. now, the good news is winds will be shifting more westerly as we head a through the weekend so that will diminish the threat of rip tides but with a wind out of the southwest tomorrow it's going to get hot it's going to get humid. haven't had to talk about heat indices all week but tomorrow

this tracks the heat index and this shows by 2 o'clock the heat index in philadelphia will feel like 97 degrees. so, it's going to be oppressively hot and humid and then we have a cold front moving in and that will bring us dangerous lightning. one of the situations on saturday a lot of people will be outside. always tell kids when thunder roars go indoors. if you hear thunder get inside immediately. there's no safe place outside when you hear thunder because lightning can strike about 10 miles in advance of a storm system and there's been a lot of cases this summer of people being struck by lightning so you don't want to wait until the last minute. get inside right away. currently in philadelphia 83 degrees down from a high of 85. that's 2 degrees below normal. humidity levels up a little bit higher than yesterday he though, so feeling a little less comfortable. reading 80, trenton 81, atlantic city airport 79. and cape may 78. satellite6 along with action radar showing partly cloudy skies here. if you look up to the great lakes you can see this broken band of storms.

that's the cold front that will be sweeping through late in the day. so, the morning should be fine. it's just going to be very humid tonight partly cloudy skies and the overnight low 73 in philadelphia, dewpoints rising into the 70's. allentown 68. cape may 75 and wilmington 72 degrees. so, tomorrow morning got a garage sale got some soccer practices should be okay. we'll see he some breaks of sunshine but then as we led into the afternoon, this is when the storms begin to fire up. notice around 12:30 some of them breaking out in the northwest suburbs. not a solid band of storms. so not everyone will see them. moving into philadelphia around 3:30 or 4:00 and then should be moving off the cost by about 7 o'clock so the coldplay concert at the linc should be fine tomorrow night. if you're on the beaches, the storms will be approaching late in the day probably between about 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock so keep your eye to the sky, get off the beaches as soon as the skies get dark. 88 degrees. on sunday it will be sunny, lower humidity, 86. the poconos some of those

storms as early as lunchtime, 80 degrees the high tomorrow and sunday bright and refreshing with a high of 78. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, a 50-50 weekend. it's hot and humid and stormy tomorrow. 91 degrees. sunday still warm, 89 but dewpoints dropping into the 50's so low humidity. monday is going to be beautiful, 86. we bump it up to 86 degrees on tuesday. wednesday and thursday it gets hot and humid, 90 degrees so hot for the eagles preseason game and friday still muggy with a high of 88 degrees. and i do have an important update. jim gardner's surgery went great. he is on the road to recovery and he wants to thank all the viewers for their kind notes on facebook and on twitter. >> he's getting a tendon repaired. we wish him a speed he dee recovery. >> surgery went great. >> thank you. proud parents watch their young children graduate from preschool in the city's olney section. the young seventy nine clark philadelphia preschool were given caps to wear during the ceremony at lasalle university's business center.
