"action news", delaware valley's leading news program, with meteorologist melissa magee, jeff skversky, sarah bloomquist and walter perez. sunday night a violent night in philadelphia ending with ten people shot two were kill. hundreds of people rally in support of local law enforcement. but the big story on "action news" is family of five killed, what a peers to be a murder suicide. bodies of the mother, father and three young children were all found inside their home in berks county yesterday. >> reporter: neighbors in this quiet community, in sinking spring just outside reading are still trying to wrap their mind around it. authorities say they were called to this home on winding brooke drive after three three-year old megan short didn't show up for lunch with a family member. police officers found megan, her husband mark, their three children and a dog shot to death inside of the home. >> it is just unbelievable. i'm still in shock. i could not sleep because i was so upset. >> reporter: jake knows the family but was still brought to tears thinking about what happened to them all. >> you just don't understand. >> reporter: berks county district attorney says is what believed to be a handwritten murder suicide note was found inside and handgun was found near one of the adults. authorities have not yet said who carried out shootings. sophie knew oldest daughter leana from cheer leading camp. >> she was cutest. she was quiet. sweetest little girl. you could never imagine anything like this would happen to her report rorrer couple's two-year old daughter

willow received a heart transplant when she was less than a week old n april megan published a blog post for mended little hearts a non-profit organization supporting families with congenital heart defects. in it the she offered support to other families caring for a child like hers. writing i don't think ptsd truly ever goes away. but with therapy, medication, and the right support, i can begin to loosen its grip on me as i work on my own mental healing i wanted to share my own experience so other heart parents know they are not alone. berks county district attorney is calling this a tragic domestic incident and while the scene here has been released, the investigation is still ongoing. reporting from sinking spring, trish hartman, channel six "action news". and it was a unusually violent night in philadelphia, ten people were shot, two of the victims were killed and in one case, a a man was shot in the face, while trying to park his car, with his two small children in the back seat. details, jeff? >> reporter: walter, in that case a neighbor pulled children from the car and took them inside, and until police arrived. that neighbor told me older child had a piece of paper her father had given her with an emergency number to call in a case like this. police say that the driver of this car was parking in front of the road when gunman approached and shot him in the face. it happened after midnight at 55th and spring streetness west philadelphia. the victim's children age three and seven years old were in the car at the time but they were not hurt. neighbors say the victim whom they call mike is on life support and is in critical condition. nearby store owner just can't understand why anyone would hurt them. >> he is a good guy. he is a good guy, he come in here every day, never bother anybody. >> reporter: hour earlier woman in her 20's was shot at 62nd abe wood land in south philadelphia a gunshots hit a car. police say the victim was in stable condition when she was taken to the hospital. also in southwest philadelphia, a man was gunned

down, while leaning on his motorcycle at this bp station honesting ton near 67th. the vick tomorrow was shot at close range and died at the scene. violence continued, just before 4:00 a.m., a man ran until he collapsed on north front near callowhill in northern liberties. police say that they believe he may have been shot during an attempted robbery, the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. and in a second murder an unidentified man was also shot the dead on the 3400 block of braddock and kensington and all of these cases police are investigating now arrests have been made. live from southwest detectives, jeff chirico for channel six a "action news". >> thanks, jeff. follow-up to a story we first told but last night a family belonging have been return after septa a police offered amnesty to the thief. she and her children are from columbia and sight seeing in the u.s. for two months. on thursday they were on a bus in philadelphia when a bag containing the children's

passports was stolen. police promised not to prosecute, if a thief return the passports. but last night, that promise paid off. the bag, with the passports and even a cell phone inside were returned, and now estrada and her children will be able to return to columbia as scheduled, on tuesday. the presidential nominees will turn their attention to the economy this week. both campaigns will make their pitch necessary detroit, michigan. republican donald trump is scheduled to layout his plan during a speech tomorrow night and expect to focus on bringing back manufacturing jobs, and renegotiating trade deals. democrat hillary clinton is already criticizing those plans pointing out that many of the trump's own products are made overseas. clinton will give details of her own plan during a speech in detroit on thursday. world news sunday will have the latest from the campaign trail today, coming up at 6:30 right here after "action news". it was an endless line of motorcycles to day in northeast philadelphia, hundreds of bikers rally in support of police and this was just one of the several

rallies today, standing with law enforcement. "action news" reporter christie ileto joins us live from mayfair with the full story, christie? >> reporter: well, walter motorcycles ended at frankford and cottman where it has become a block party of sorts, residents are rallying for those to protect and serve them every day. >> thank you, thank you. >> what brought you out here. >> i wanted to support my step dad and uncle and police for all they have done. >> reporter: the motorcycles, are anthem of sunday's rally, in the boys in blue and for many like a lot of people, it is personal. >> tell me about the sign. >> it says i walk the line, because my step dad's mine. >> it is overwhelming, a macing, that philadelphia has this support for our officers. we need it at this time. it has been a lot of you know, negativity going around law

enforcement not the just with us but a cross the country. >> reporter: recent shootings of african-american by law enforcement and murders of the ten police office's cross the country spotlighted the relationship between community and those in uniform. as a the mother of a police officer what runs through your mind. >> scared to death, every day, i pray to god every day for safety. >> several die for us every day and we just have to support them. >> i didn't to have think twice, but we all to have think about what it would be like to walk in their shoes, one day, and go through what they go through before they are so critical. >> reporter: why do you feel it is important to bring your kid out here. >> they need to learn that the police will help you. they're not all bad. >> reporter: just like that last gentlemen, a lot of residents i spoke without here harped on the fact that they felt it was important to bring their young kid out here to show them that not everything you hear about police is bad. this rally lasts until

it was a good run for a great cause in camden county. american foundation for suicide prevention, hosted an awareness walk in pennsauken township. those taking part walk a long north park drive-in support of the suicide prevention initiatives. the event is one of the out of the darkness walk events held in different electricians all across the country. absecon light house is celebrating national light house day by offering kid a special deal on tours. all day to day children up to 12 years of age had a chance to crime the light house for free as long as they had an

adult with them, of course. absecon light house is one of the oldest and tallest in the country. there were plastic cars on display today in the bucks county area, this festival was more than just a show, action cam was on the scene here in doylestown central park for the annual for you drew car show and benefit. the festival is in memory of drew pentieri who died ten years ago. all money raised goes to fight hunger and to help people struggling to pay for their education. meanwhile in northern liberties people were dancing in the streets, the second street festival brought in people from all across the region for live music, delicious food and face painting. organizers say the hope is that this event will show off what northern liberties has to offer in terms of the businesses, restaurants, and a social life.
