commercial establishments. the suspects are brazen unconcerned with surveillance systems. here are two of the men wanted for a rash of home invasion commercial burglaries. >> then they using the gun to my husband and myself. >> reporter: wang is among the victims. the suspects broke into her master street restaurant on july 28th. then went upstairs and startled the family awake. >> i say okay, we -- don't -- don't touch me and my husband, okay, i give you all of my money. >> reporter: they fled with $3,000 in cash and other valuables. >> looks like they're bouncing back and forth between west philadelphia and northwest philadelphia. >> reporter: they're wanted for a dozen crimes in all including one today on the 5100 block of haverford. >> commercial businessessism this afternoon police and the fbi briefed roughly 150 concerned members of the asian community. the message, be alert of your customers. one suspect has a distinctive

tattoo that possibly says felicia on the back of his neck. the suspects have been captured on surveillance fleeing the crimes in a 2004 to 2009 silver nissan quest and a 2012 black dodge caliber. >> increasing in intensity. we're out here today with the community alerting them as the incidents are going on. we're doing everything we can to try to prevent these. we'll work closely with this community. >> reporter: while police say many victims have been punched or hit in the head with handguns no one has been seriously injured. live in chinatown chad pradelli channel6 "action news." brian. >> all right, chad, thank you. the delaware high school student who died after an assault in a school bathroom suffered cuts bruises and even her fingernails broken off. the new details were revealed in testimony today at a family court hearing to decide if the 16-year-old criminally charged in that case will be tried as an adult. the prosecution claims the attack was premeditated.

amy joyner-francis died after the attack at wilmington's howard high school in april. an autopsy determined that joyner-francis died from a longstanding heart condition triggered by the assault. the judge is expected to make a ruling by the end of next week. two other girls face less serious charges in this case. they will be tried in family court. now to the family tragedy in berks county. officials are awaiting autopsy results tonight on the husband and father involved in that murder-suicide that left a family of five dead. "action news" reporter bob brooks live tonight in syncing n king spring. >> reporter: there are so many people hurting right now. this whole family of five, the couple horribly their three children were killed in their home. behind me you'll notice a lot of carls in the drive way. one of them is an investigator's car. they are inside right now speaking with people that went in earlier today. no one knows for sure what

happened inside this sinking spring home of mark and megan short. after megan failed to he show up for a lunch date a search this past weekend was on. a quick investigation revealed the couple and their three children liana eight, mark, five and willow, two, were found shot to death. their dog as well in what police say is a domestic murder-suicide. >> it's hard to put into words. nobody can really say how they're going the feel. it's just a sad thing. >> reporter: an unthinkable thing that children would fall victim to something like this but sinking spring pd said the shorts had a history of domestic violence. >> they were great kids just like every other child. at one point the shorts served as an inspiration to this community and still do. their daughter willow incellly survived a heart transplant days after being born. neighbor dina mcdonough suffers from a heart defect like willow. >> i followed willow's story and when i saw that it was the same family, it was just devastating. >> reporter: though it

wasn't a journey without sacrifice, the shorts participated in new stories -- news stories about it. megan short even posted on the web site philly at heart detailing that anxiety with those medical issues had left her with post traumatic stress disorder. today neighbors stopped by the house to pay respects, place flowers at the door and the summer camp the kids went to down the street had three less participants today and that hurts. >> to know when you walk out your door every day you have to look at the home. it breaks your heart. >> reporter: okay, it certainly does break your heart and so many people want answers of what happened exactly insides of that home. those answers are going to come but again not until an autopsy is done. we are expecting that to be completed any day now. for now reporting live in in syncing spring bob brooks channel6 "action news. brian. >> bob thank you. the search is on tonight for two carjackers who shot a man in southwest philadelphia. police say the suspects pulled

31-year-old victim from his car at 60th and wood land about 12:30 this morning. at least seven shots were fired before the men took off in the victim's car. police found that car just a few blocks away. the victim is that hospitalized tonight in critical condition. >> we've learned that the sheriff's deputy injured in that elevator mishap at philadelphia's criminal justice center is partially paralyzed. sergeant paul owens remains in a medically induced coma tonight. owens was riding a elevator at the cjc last thursday when a failure sent it flying upwards into the ceiling. he suffered broken bones in his back. >> now the big issue is is he prepared to do the surgery for his back and there are some complications right now but he is paralyzed from his waist down. >> now the cjc reopened for business today but the two elevators involved in that crash remain out of service indefinitely. if you were scheduled to report to court last thursday or friday, you will get a

notice with a new date to report. the potential jurors screened to serve on a trial of pennsylvania's top prosecutor. attorney general kathleen kane is accused of leaking grand jury material and then lying about it under oath. "action news" reporter john rawlins live in norristown tonight with more on the start of jury selection. john. >> reporter: hi, brian. it's been a long day. those potential jurors have been in that courtroom since shortly after 9 o'clock. we thought we were close about 40 minutes ago when it was announced everybody needed to take their z the lawyers came outer and then they stopped and started comparing notes of what they had been doing all day long. they have not announced any selections at this point. they need a jury of 12 plus alternates those who do go into the box of course will decide the legal fate of the state's attorney general. the woman in the dark suit looked familiar but she made it clear she is not kathleen kane but her twin sister ellen here with family members for the trial. according to the prosecution kathleen kane hack buffed her power as attorney general in

leaking grand jury secrets as an act of revenge and then lied about it. today the job to pick a jury from a pool of 100 people. attorneys will tell you jury selection is critical. >> you can lose a case in your jury selection. >> reporter: if he looks familiar attorney jerry mcgettigan put jerry sandusky and dupont in prison. he says the wrong juror can tune out your argument. for the prosecutors he says they need someone who is part of the system who understands rules are important. >> someone who is used to following rules and someone who knows that rules are in place for a reason and laws. the reason being is that unlike say a murder case robbery case burglary case there's no specific identifiable victim here. it's the rules that have been violated. >> reporter: as for kane's did he first team. >> probably going to look for someone who may think that oh, this is just technical, these things happen all the time or they may be looking for someone who believes that there are political

motivations lined the prosecution or that there's a conspiracy lying somewhere behind things. >> reporter: now, the judge told those in the jury pool today that the trial should last about a week give or take. not clear if that included the time it will take to select a jury. we are still in the process of selecting that jury. live in norristown, john rawlins channel6 "action news." brian. >> all right, john, thank you. a philadelphia police officer was rushed to the hospital today after a crash in north philadelphia this morning. chopper6 was over the scene about 11:30 at 22nd and montgomery. police say the officer was on his way to a call when he he collided with another car. the officer was treated and released from the hospital. the driver of the other car was not seriously hurt. new jersey's teacher union rallied outside the statehouse angry that lawmakers missed a deadline to put a question on the november ballot. that question would have asked voters if they wanted to force the state to make quarterly payments to public workers pension. senate president steve sweeney says lawmakers have to fix a

>> newly purchased boat went up in flames in delaware today. two sailors managed 20 escape when their 32-foot long sailboat caught fire near the route one bridge in delaware city. two marine units fought the flames from the water. police have not yet said what caused this fire. firefighters said the occupants just bought there boat in philadelphia this morning. and were taking it back to maryland. >> new at 6 o'clock a construction project in olde city city of philadelphia getting a whole lot of attention but not because what's set to rise there. crews unearthed a door while digging at that site something that could be -- some think it could be a window to the city 's storied path. vernon odom explains he we might not get to see it. >> reporter: southwest corner eri eric hat job.

his bosses have told him to keep digging. where did this door lead. what is lined it a trove possibly of artifacts from the 17th century or earlier. archaeologists would love to explore. >> appearing down into 200 plus years of philadelphia history. >> reporter: doug has done groundbreaking work all over olde city including the dig at sixth and market three-quarters away where the quarters of george washington's slaves were found under what was the nation's first white house. what mooney asks is behind this door. >> it could be a very important historical architect fact and archaeological deposits on the z the problem is nobody's bothering to look for them. >> reporter: this massive fire several years ago destroyed the landmark shirt corner store. a west virginia developers owns this property now. a multi use building is coming. a pharmacy chain now resides at the opposite corner. >> there were a series of private collectors that were allowed access to that site. went down dug in some of the

privies there and just discovered some extremely early artifacts just amazing things. >> reporter: experts like doug mooney tell me their literally huth of potentially history rich sites like this all over philadelphia especially this section of town. ones that will never get unearthed he says because of progress and redevelopment. in olde city, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news. >> 2016 international association of official human rights agencies conference is under way in philadelphia. mayor jim kenney delivered the opening remarks this morning at the lowes philadelphia hotel in center city. conference will provide forums for human rights agencies to discuss human and civil rights issues. it runs until thursday. five baby birds that survived an acts of vandalism last month released a few hours ago in hopewell township new jersey. "action news" was at mercer county wildlife center as the purple martins flu away. the five birds survived after

>> now to cecily tynan and the accuweather forecast. the heat would be one thing. it's the humidity. >> exactly it's the saying it's the heat it's the humidity. this weekend it's going to be bothing they'll combine and make it pretty uncomfortable. today not too bad. storm tracker6 live double scan slowing rain free conditions out there. we had one little downpour near dover about an hour ago. that's dissipated. now there's just one over maryland but the action cam taking a look. i like this shot, the wilmington water front and we had a good amount of clouds up there earlier today. a lot of them are thinning out but with the cloud cover it never got all that hot. the high today in philadelphia 85 which is actually 1 degree below normal. but get set to sweat. dewpoints show you that tomorrow will be moderately humid, 66 degrees the dewpoint but then dewpoints will be rising up into the 70's so

that's oppressive. in addition to that we'll have temperatures in the 90's and also it will be very unsettled. this is future tracker wednesday afternoon showing that we'll liking see some showers and thunderstorms bubbling up. they'll be scattered but we keep that chance of storms really right through the week and right through the weekend. right now temperatures in the 80's. philadelphia 83, pretty comfortable. allentown 84. trenton 82. millville 81. cape may 80 and wilmington currently 82 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing that clouds are really beginning to thin out. there's an upper level disturbance that's bringing some rain across parts of virginia. that's what's tossed the cloud cover our way. meantime farther down to the south there's low pressure that's spinning that's bringing copious amounts of rain parts of georgia and florida and this actually will be sitting there for several days and that's part of the problem. that will actually help to feed more tropical moisture our way and keep us very unsettled from the middle of

the week right through the weekend. so, tonight a pretty quiet night. partly cloudy skies. it will be slightly humid but not bad for this time of the year. and temperatures about where we should be. 69 in philadelphia, allentown 60, trenton 64. the boardwalk in atlantic city 69. cape may 70 and wilmington 66 degrees. tomorrow high pressure just to our east will bring us mixture of clouds and sunshine. more sunshine than clouds. a lot brighter than today. it will be on the warm side. 89 degrees. slightly humid. that oppressive heat and humidity just down to our south and west. however, on wednesday, this high pressure sinks to the south, becomes that classic bermuda high heat pump. that will bring us temperatures around 90 degrees. it will be humid and that cold front really won't get here. so, we can't get the heat and the humidity to move out until a front moves in and that likely won't happen until the beginning of next week. so, tomorrow if you're on the beaches do be careful a moderate risk of rip currents again. the ocean temperature very warm, 78 degrees.

won't be quite as ho on the beaches as inland but temp in the 80's. jersey beaches about 83, delaware beaches 84 with that sea breeze with winds out of the southeast at about five to 10 miles per hour. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow it will be on the warm side. mostly sunny skies. a touch on the humid side but dewpoints in the mid 60's so not all that bad. 89 degrees. on wednesday, this is when you feel that difference in the air mass. muggy with dewpoints in the 70's. a high of about 90 degrees with some scattered storms and the chance of storms continues on thursday for the eagles preseason game. it will be humid again, a little bit hotter, 91 degrees. but the peak of the heat arriving on friday and saturday. 94 degrees on friday. saturday 95. you factor in the humidity. that heat index above 105 degrees so that is dangerously hot. again, some scattered showers and thunderstorms and sunday temperatures ease back a little bit but not much
