off, we are following a murder-suicide that claimed the life of a child. for the second time this week a community in our area is coping with this kind of tragedy, this time it's burlington county. jeanette reyes is live with more on what police say happened. >> reporter: rick a lot of these neighbors were talking about the recent murder suicide. never imagining it would happen next door to them and wonder if they missed red flags. >> heard what sounded like explosions in the far distance. i thought maybe someone had set off some fire work orz something and i sure didn't think gunshots. >> the sound of gun fire is so rare in this neighborhood that that was the last thing fred schwartz thought he heard yesterday and now says he may have heard the gunshots that

took the lives of the people next door. >> we made sure we stayed inside and just kind of didn't know what was happening. >> last night burlington township officers responded to a welfare check at the johnson home at the circle. he didn't know what to expect and asked neighbors to take shelter. >> they said move to the other side of the house because there was a possibility of gun fire. >> the burlington county prosecutors office says that before turning the gun on himself. ruben johnson jr. killed his wife and son pictured here with his older sister, she was away in florida at the time. >> i heard the news and i'm just in shock. i can't believe it. it's sad and disturbing. there is no known motive but neighbors wonder what could have led a father to kill his wife

began in montgomery county. kane is accused of leaking confidential grand jury information and lying under oath. john rawlins is live now. what is the latest from there? >> reporter: for the jurors it was a tale of two narratives, from the prosecution came that kathleen kane was that she was embroiled in a feud and the defense says it's justification and told no lies and knows nothing about leaking grand jury information. >> kathleen kane at the courthouse to hear alligations that she broke the law and tried to cover it up. helping us understand the opening statement. >> she offered motive out of the box. first word was revenge. >> revenge for this march 2014 expose in the philadelphia

they are not sure if she was targeted or the victim of a random crime. >> there is concern for visitors that enter our town. we ask people to pay attention to their surroundings. >> her death is similar to that of a new york woman killed on a run in queens last week, but there is no indication that the deaths are connected. today big questions have surfaced about the safety of park rides and how they are regulated. two days ago a 10-year-old boy was killed on a water park slide in kansas and just yesterday three girl fell from a ferris wheel from a county fair in tennessee. we have details about both incidents. >> we have three kids that fell from the ferris wheel -- >> a fall sent three girls to the emergency room. 10 and 16 are in stable condition but the 6-year-old is

in critical condition. >> i felt bad for the kids, they streamed and then hit the ground and stayed there. >> the passenger cart flipped over and got caught against the one below it and turned their cart upside down, those girls fell some 45 feet from the ground. >> two of the children were alert and answering questions, i can't say if the third was or not. but the third child does have a head injury. >> and information on 10-year-old caleb schwab who died riding this water slide in canada city. >> it was a boom boom boom, i knew someone had fallen off the raft. >> the little boy was tossed off the raft at the middle of the raft, police confirmed that he died of a neck injury, it's still unclear if the party met the weight requirement. >> i want to show you this this

afternoon. two years ago early safety checks of the slide found that sandbag dummies went airborne, that prompted officials to add seatbelts and the safety nets before the ride opened. that water park in kansas city is tentatively planning to reopen this morning, this as caleb schwabs family makes funeral arrangements. delta is dealing with the second straight days of cancels and delayed flights after a computer failure yesterday that grounded delta's fleet for six hours. delta says the fleet is up and running but the airline is trying to catch up. they don't know what caused the glitch but offering refunds for flights cancels or significantly delayed. meanwhile it's a good time to look for a job in the airline

trenton and later in the afternoon we see breaks in the clouds and allows temperatures to touch the low 90s and perhaps thunderstorms in the poconos and it will be noticeably more humid tomorrow. here is what to expect the next five days, it's not a one day shot. a tropical vacation moving in with the tropical air mass, dew points in the mid-70s you'll be able to feel the moisture in the air. the combination of heat and humidity make its feel 100 to 105. spotty thunderstorms pretty much every day. we get around 90 degrees and soupy and high humidity and a threat of showers or thunderstorms and gets hotter on thursday, thunderstorms are possible and a steamy preseason eagles game and friday we bump it up to 94 and saturday this is really the peak of the heat.

computer complete with the monitor, key board and mouse, and then simply walks out right on to broad street. if you know who this man is police want to hear from you. everyone is back home on melrose street in philadelphia. the roofs of several row homes suddenly collapsed and that created fear about the stability of the porches too. philadelphia's office of licenses and inspections, spent the morning removing all the falling awning, and assured residents that nothing else is in danger of collapsing. fortunately no injuries were reported and 10 people were evacuated until the homes were deemed safe and peco was on hand fixing the power lines that came down with the awnings. there were concerns about the foundations of these homes for quite sometime. >> these foundation of the two houses has been going on for a year half maybe three years.

>> reporter: sharrie investigators have not yet nailed down that drag racing was involved. he has since retained an attorney and will likely know more when they talk to a third driver. this is surveillance video of the the crash, police say that a 17-year-old was driving this honda accord at a high rate is of speed when he crashed into a civic, esther palmer a 3-year-old later died at the hospital and her mother and grandmother were injured. >> we don't know if they was buckled in properly or not. what is part of our investigation. >> they want to talk to the driver of this black honda accord closely following behind the striking vehicle, the driver made a turn on to the street and detectives are investigating

whether the driver of the two accords were drag racing. >> that is on ongoing investigation, they are seen traveling down second street at a high rate of speed, we do not know for sure if they were drag racing at this time. a small memorial of candles and teddy bears grows at the wreckage as investigators try to track down the truth of what happened. sadness lingers for little esther palmer who died too young. >> i can't imagine who they are going through right now. >> and palmer's mother was treated and released as for her grandmother she remains in critical but stable condition, the 17-year-old hospital was treated and released at a local hospital. and he has retained an attorney and the investigation has a long way to go. i'm live outside of the accident and investigation division. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a shooting investigation in camden has turn nood a homicide.

two women were shot last night on the 800 block of south sixth street. 21-year-old tanya james died and another is recooperating at cooper medical hospital. from our delaware newsroom, an alleged drug dealer is facing charges after a month long investigation in newcastle county, police arrested 34-year-old aubry spencer on the 400 block of robinson drive. they say that detectives found cocaine and marijuana and almost $4,000 along with drug charges, spencer is charged with endangering the welfare of three children. he was arrested monday and is now out on bail. >> all right cecily is in for adam back with the stormy and steamy forecast. >> we head into the dog days of summer. it's not bad out there.

former illinois governor, rod blagojevich will not be getting a lighter sentence. a judge upheld the 14 year sentence for trying to sell president obama's senate seat. they asked for the term to be lowered because five of the 18 convictions were struck down. blagojevich appeared via a video feed, saying he regrets the past and in making the ruling the judge said that the mistakes were serious crimes that had an impact on the people of illinois. california's biggest wild fire expanded to more than 104 miles north of big sur, an army of 4,000 firefighters made progreceipts by surrounding 50%

a police officer in california was on vacation with his family last week when he heard a desperate call for help. this 5-year-old little boy here named gabriel had drowned in a creek and was under wash for at least 5 minutes, but he is a live today because of this real life hero and angel. officer curtis started with cpr, when he realized he had too much water in his lung, he turned him upside down and squeezed him to get a gallon of water out and still no pulse for the little boy, the officer was not willing to give up and neither was gabriel's mom so they prayed. >> said in jesus's name i pray, i felt a pulse and i didn't think it was his pulse because i thought my heart was beating so much it was my pulse, but it wasn't, it was his good he made it and that officer did not give up. gabriel is still recovering and
