good afternoon. sara is off and we are following breaking news from delaware. several children are in the hospital after they were stung by bees at rockwood park in wilmington. chopper 6 hd was there as medics responded to the park at 11:00 this morning. we are told that the children were taken to dupont hospital and we are working on finding out their conditions. and also breaking, a major car theft ring landed two dozen people behind bars. philadelphia police busted the operation and wendy saltzman is first on the story. she joins us from the da's office where more details will be announced later this afternoon. >> reporter: well rick, we are tipped off to this complex criminal scheme about three hours ago and in the next hour and a half. the district attorney's office is expected to announce how they

finally crackd this case. >> i never heard of nothing like this before. never. >> this chevy impala was a $5500 investment shane was going to use for work and kids. >> they knocked on the door and said we have to confiscate your car. >> she bought the car from an online seller, and said it looked too good to be true. >> i said this is a really nice car, and i needed a car and it was clean, extra clean and i was good body, in shape and no dents and really nice and i was like this is a really great deal. >> "action news" learned it was part of a car theft ring. the car was actually a fairly new rental car that had been stolen and that thieves changed the vin numbers to the junk car they bought at auction to cover up the theft.

back. it's hot and very humid as we look live from sky 6 hd from penn's landing and watching for the chance of pop-up storms and showers today. melissa magee is in for david murphy. >> it's terribly humid outside and it looks like the pattern will continue for the rest of the week here. in philadelphia 87 degrees and 85 in millville, we have the southerly wind and 86 in wilmington and same at the coast in cape may and north and west coming in at 85 degrees. the dew points are on the high side. a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. any time you have dew point numbers in the low 70s, quite oppressive and it looks like the air mass is sticking with us as we close out the work week. part of the reason why we get the showers and storms is because of the humidity, you see it on stormtracker 6 live double scan radar, as we zoom in south

of hacketts town and hamilton and portions of montgomery we are dealing with showers and storms, and south of 1212 and easton and quakertown along route 611 we get heavier pockets of moisture and 10 lightning strikes are associated with this. we'll track the moisture on and off throughout the day. over the next 12 hours, 88 is the number at 2:00 in the afternoon. 90 at 4:00 and in fact that is our forecast high today. back down into the upper 80s at 6:00 and 11:00 tonight and clouds will break for a partly cloudy skies and this is the beginning, the national weather service posted our area in an excessive heat watch along the i-95 metro area and highs in the 90s and factor in the humidity and numbers close to 100 degrees, we'll take a closer
