parkway at stillman road, the flames are billowing up into the sky. no one is hurt at this point and gas and power crews are on the scene shutting off the goods main and trying to get this one under control. as we get more information we'll pass it along in our newscast. brand new at 4:00, police say they caught one of the shooters involving a deadly encounter involving innocent bystanders, last month three unsuspecting people were caught in the crossfire of a shootout in philadelphia and one of them died and two others went to the hospital. chad pradelli is live now with the details that are developing today. >> reporter: sharrie investigators have been developing leads into this triple shooting leading to daqueen cooper. police are still searching for at least one more shooting

suspect. july 15th just before 9:00 p.m., employee say that dei queen cooper engaged in a gun battle. and jerry floyd was shot in the chest and died. a 48-year-old woman and 15-year-old girl were also shot and survived. >> it doesn't appear that any victims were targeting and it looked like they were innocent bystanders and mr. cooper was involved in a gun battle that were in the wrong place at the wrong time. police are searching for one more shooter, so far 171 people have been killed in philadelphia this year. up 6% from this time last year. >> this is senseless, the gun violence that continues to plague our nation and across our cities, it has to stop. >> reporter: and police say they are developing new information about the second suspect, i'm live outside of police

fire right now. we are showing you the flames on the bottom part of your screen. and we are looking at a worker in a bucket dealing with some of the power issues, you see a lot of power lines here along steelman road near the parkway. and the fire could affect the power lines and the huge flames are burning for an hour now and gas and power crews trying to shut off the gas main. nobody was hurt but a nearby building was evacuated as a precaution. we see the flames continuing to burn and we'll get and update if this is affecting traffic along the garden state parkway at all at this hour. we'll bring you the latest from egg harbor township, new jersey, as information becomes available to you. delaware is getting new federal funding to fight the zika virus, more than $800,000 will help to track and control the type of mosquitos that could

do it yourself. back inside to you sary. >> reporter: thank you. >> officers on patrol in north philadelphia were able to quickly arrest a person wanted for murder late last night. police saw the suspect running away from a shooting scene with a gun if his hand, jorge lopez was found gunned down on german town avenue, officers heard the gunshots and ended up chasing the man. he is expected to face charges. well, a different shooting sent a man to the hospital in stable condition, this time it was in the hunting park section of the city. investigators say that the 20-year-old was shot multiple times around midnight on the 3800 block of north percy street. a witness rushed him to the er and there is no word on who shot him or why. philadelphia police are hope that video will lead them to two

there is encouraging news coming outs of flint, michigan this afternoon. researchers from virginia tech that first exposed the city's led problem says it's water quality greatly improved. during a press conference, they announced that 45% of the 162 homes they tested had no detectible levels of led that is dramatically better than last year. but flint residents are told to keep filters on their kitchen tap or use bottled water until they are given the okay from officials. and these soldier surprises get us every time. so beautiful and powerful. here we see a son surprise his unsuspecting mom in phoenix, arizona, she is so surprised she

and full steam ahead. the next three days, we are talking about dangerous heat and humidity. heat index 106 and heat index saturday 108 and sunday 106. this will be the toughest heat wave so far this summer. we are looking at days with the heat index above 105, the water temperature also very warm, the atlantic city steel pier reported an ocean temperature of 83.3 degrees yesterday that is a record, the old record 83.1 set back in 2011. it's refreshing to get in the water but still hot. meteorologist, melissa magee, is on the beach in atlantic city with a forecast. how are you surviving the heat are you okay? >> reporter: yes, i'm doing fantastic, i have a good assignment today cecily because you can feel the nice breeze with the south facing wind, it's not bad but as you mentioned, the heat is on.

monday it's still pretty hot and a cold front brings a round of showers and thunderstorms and hopefully temperatures drop into the 80s on tuesday, it's close, if it's 90 we are still in a heat wave but we won't feel quite as intense and tuesday the air show 88 and thursday moderate humidity and seasonably warm with a high of 87 degrees. last heat wave we had, it last the about a week but we own had one day with the heat index above 105, we are looking at a solid four days, this is really dangerous, you have to listen to your body. >> we will thank you cecily. quick break and more news when we come back.

especially produce, here is nydia han with some solutions. food we throw out is produce, that happened in our house and i hate it. consumer reports checked into making fruits and veggies last longer. it's good for us but half the produce we buy ends up in the garbage, to keep it fresh and stop the waste, consumer reports did testing. they tried the oxy container, and they were filled with raspberries and strawberries and leafy greens and they stored them in their original clam shell containers, they were left in the refrigerator and checked. the oxo looked good but is it worth buying special containers, not much kept it much cleaner than the original clam shells.

cecily tynan, rick williams and monica malpass. it is 5:00 and we continue to follow breaking news in south jersey for you, a gas main fire still has a main road shut down in egg harbor township. chopper 6 hd over the scene right now, you see an active flame there and the action cam was on the ground in ocean heights match knew as the flames continue to rage. they have evacuated a nearby building as a precaution and no one has been hurt. and gas crews are working now to shut off the flow of the gas so officials can clear the scene. we'll have updates as we get them through the newscast and on our website at 6abc.com. meanwhile, wild weather made for a tough start for commuters in philadelphia. sticky skies opened up a downpour during the rush.
