open up the oven, that's what it feels like. the humidity is through the roof. let's get you outside and show you what is a beautiful shot. once we get outside it's uncomfortable. mainly clear conditions, humid weather will continue to grip the delaware and the lehigh valleys over the next 48 hours or so. today should not be as bad as yesterday. the excessive heat warning will continue right through the evening for the entire viewing area, it expires at 9:00 a.m., that's when the humidity levels start to die down a little bit. 6:00 a.m., it feels like 92 in philadelphia. 94 in millville. dover, 93. 90 in atlantic city, close to 90 in wilmington. satellite and radar, we really haven't seen much relief in the form of thunderstorms. we were hoping we would get a few of them in and around the immediate philadelphia area, but a lot of were confined to the

lehigh valley and the poconos and upstate new york and southern portions of the great lake states. that's where they will stay today. one or two areas could pick up a pop up short term later on, most of us stay dry, 97 degrees is the forecasted high with the humidity. it will feel like 107. it will be another awful feeling day, yesterday's heat index was 111. it's better, but still in the dangerous category. when i come back we'll show you cooler temperatures, finally, in the seven-day forecast. >> our heat wave has turned deadly in philadelphia. the temperature is part of the story. the humidity is also a factor. bob brooks has more. >> reporter: if it wasn't hot enough already how about adding fire. philadelphia firefighters battled a blaze tan abandoned church steeple in mount airy. it was about ice cold water and

cold wet towels. the philadelphia health department reported the first two heat related deaths of the heat wave, one in brewerytown and the other one in port richmond. this crew of army vets meets every year at fairmont park. they made sure to find a spot under the shady tree for the cook out. describe the heat. >> it was brutal. >> reporter: kids down the street did ice cream. >> for people looking to get exercise and run, like malik rush did it on the trail. these sisters stuck close to the water for fishing. >> i caught one bass. >> and two bass. >> reporter: for dad, he brought two poles, he was trying to stay

is safe. >> one down got 24 inches of rain in an hour, rivers in mississippi are expected to crest four feet above record. officials in milwaukee, wisconsin are calling for calm after a fatal shooting by police. firefighters couldn't put out the fire because of gunshots. one officer was hurt by a brick hurled through window of his car. police in wilmington are looking for a person who shot a man leaving him critically wounded. it happened on west third street. police say a man was shot in the chest outside a park, he was rushed to saint francis hospital. >> this week democratic nominee hillary clinton brings her campaign to pennsylvania that includes a stop in philadelphia.

matter. people need to take precautions. >> reporter: yeah, unfortunately we had two deaths yesterday. the heat index will be 105 to 110 today. there is relief in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. i'll show you that in a couple of minutes. let's get you outside and show you the view, it's a steamy morning, beautiful shot of cape may. just like yesterday even though the shorepoints will be baking today. yesterday cape may had a peak index of 110 degrees. you had a sea breeze by afternoon. but it was hot even on the sand. there will not be much relief anywhere across the delaware and lehigh valleys today. high temperatures, lakehurst, 99 degrees. philadelphia that was the hottest temperatures of the year, 98. doylestown, 98. smyrna, topping out at 97. today a degree or two colder not much better.

83 degrees dewpoint, 77. pressure holding steady. the winds are light out of the southwest at 12 miles per hour. feels-like temperatures already in the 90s across the city and areas south and east. dover, 93. feels like 94 in millville. 90 in atlantic city. 90 in the city, mid 70s north and west. we had good thunderstorms up here in the lehigh valley yesterday evening, that cooled you down. that's why temperatures are down in the 70s right now. it will heat up in the 90 later on as well. satellite and radar frontal system is stalled out to the north. beautiful conditions out here, you get into the high plains, the great lake states it's comfortable up there. the front stretches like this. the problem is it is having a difficult time sinking to the south because of this heat-pump high, this bermuda high sitting off the coast of the carolinas, until this guy nudges himself out to sea that will allow the cold front to drop in and allow

chris sowers joins us with the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. another day of oppressive heat. >> reporter: this is the last of it, it slowly gets better. >> reporter: let's get you outside, we're talking heat and humidity as we look live in wilmington. look at the haze. we have dewpoints in the mid 70s, usually that kind of air mass is confined to areas of the south, gulf coast states, florida, houston, texas t it's rare that you see these kind of dewpoints up north in the delaware and lehigh valleys. it's been like this for the last several days. today, unfortunately, another uncomfortable day. it will feel like 106, 107, 108. 70s north appear west, rain-cooled air from the thunderstorms. atlantic city, 82. trenton, 78 degrees. yes, once again it is very oppressive out there with dewpoints well into the 70s and it will stay that way throughout the day.

broad street. the drama began at south broad and catherine where he was involved in the first crash. he fled that and lost control near norris street crashing into the tbront porch of an -- front porch of an apartment building. nobody was hurt, but the building was damaged. the driver is the at temple university hospital. this morning bangladesh muslim community are asking new york police to treat the shooting death of an imam as a hate crime. the imam and his assistant were talking along and shot in the head. police do not know if the shooting had anything to do with the victim's faith. >> police in hamilton township say a man shot and killed by an off duty corrections officer was under a restraining order. police say the order banned

dominic neil from contacting the correction officers girlfriend. the officer was inside his home when he saw neil approaching the front door around 3:30 a.m. according to police he shouted at neil telling him to stop, when he did not the officer fired shots through the glass door. neil was rushed to the hospital where he died. no charges were filed. closing charges are expected tomorrow in the corruption trial of kathleen kane. the top law enforcer said she doesn't think it is necessary to testify in her own defense. she is accused of leaking grand jury to evidence to the media ad lying under oath. she faces 7 years in prison for perjury if convicted. music fest wraps up in bethlehem tonight. there will be a special
