enough already how about adding fire. philadelphia firefighters battled a blaze in mount airy with all the gear and flames it was all about ice cold water and cold wet towels. nobody was hurt there. others not so lucky. the philadelphia health department reported the first two heat related deaths of the heat wave, one in brewerytown and another sadly in port richmond. those who ventured out tried to take precaution. this crew of army vets meets every year at fairmont park. they made sure to find a spot under a shady true for a cookout. describe the heat today. >> it was brutal. >> reporter: kid down the street did ice cream. for people looking to get exercise and run like malik rush, he did it at valley green on the trail. the simmons sisters stuck close

work of a house fire in frankford. you can see the exhaustion of the crew members who balloted the flames. it took 20 minutes to put out the fire, but it took a long time to recover because of the heat. no injuries were reported. 7:05. if you're just waking up with us, the big story at home, the hoot, but in louisiana it's flooding that turned tragic. three people have died there. rescue crews are searching 100 closed roads where many vehicles got stranded in rising water. take a look at this, this is one dramatic rescue. >> i'm drowning. >> we're coming we're coming, i'm breaking the window. forced evacuate their homes >> get my dog. >> heart pounding dramatic rescue, the they saved the woman

and her dog. 100 people have been rescued. some people in shelters said there was little time to get out. many had to deal with different wild creatures as a result of the high water. >> we tried to go out the back door, there was spiders. we tried out the kitchen there was a snake. we fought through that and got in the car and tried to leave, but we couldn't. >> thankfully that woman is safe, but she is wondering what is salvageable. some rivers in louisiana and mississippi are expected to crest four feet above perceives perceives -- previous records. police in wisconsin are calling for calm after a man was shot fatally by police. several businesses were torched. one officer was hurt by a brick hurled through the windshield of his car. police shot and killed a man

accused of turning a gun on them following a chase. >> this week democratic presidential nominee hillary clinton brings her campaign to pennsylvania. that stop includes one in philadelphia. tuesday afternoon clinton will hold a voter registration rally at west philadelphia high school and tomorrow she stumps in scranton with vice president joe biden. clinton and biden both have family ties to scranton. donald trump took his message to connecticut traditionally a democratic stronghold. the town he stumped in is heavily liberal. he said he stopped there because he said you never know unless you try. tomorrow he campaigns in the battleground state of ohio and then to north carolina. mike pence told wabc he may release his tax returns before the election.

yourselves that. it's actually not that far away. here's the front right here, this little line. now, normally that's a couple of hundred miles away, normally it would take a couple of hours to get here, but it's moving at a snail's pace, it's not going to cross the area until thursday. it's going to take sometime. in the meantime it stays hot, oppressively so. we'll see temperatures in the mid 90s feeling like 107 degrees. balls the front is to the west, the thunderstorm activity will stay to the west. lehigh valley has the best chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon just like yesterday. peak index numbers, the model has us at 102, accuweather puts us at 107. tomorrow, 97 degrees for the heat index, tuesday, we're back in the triple digit heat again as the dewpoints creep up again.

thieves are hijacking cell phones leaving victims footing high bills. abc's lauren lister looks at the troubling numbers and how thieves are getting in in. >> reporter: a growing threat in the palm of your hand. thieves are hijacking your cell phone. criminals crafted a fake i.d. and took over their accounts buying three iphones on their dime. >> i think they got ahold of my online account because they checked to his if i had it available. >> reporter: this kind of cell phone hijacking is on the rise, 2600 cases in january from this year alone, more than double than that 3 years ago. why is this fraud growing? >> you don't have to approve

flooding down south after "action news." >> new this morning, a driver is in the hospital facing numerous charges after two crashes along broad street in philadelphia. the drama man at south broad and catherine when the driver was in the first crash. he left that scene and crash on norris street. the building is occupied by temple students. nobody was hurt, but the building was damaged. the driver is in temple university hospital. closing arguments are scheduled tomorrow in the corruption trial of kathleen kane. the state's top law enforcer told a judge she does not think it's necessary to testify in her own defense. her lawyers rested without calling a single witness. kane is accused of leaking grand jury evidence to the media and lying about it under oath. she faces up to 7 years in prison if convicted.
