pennsylvania history. tonight, a jury convicted the state's top law enforcement official on all charges, including a felony crime. and this video shows the final moments before attorney general kathleen kane walked into court two hours ago and was found guilty. monday night, jim's off, i'm rick williams. the big story on "action news" this evening is the democrramat courtroom conclusionthacould send kathleen kane to prison. and christie ileto there as the verdict was read. >> this is absolutely unprecedented facing up to seven years in prison. her attorneys plan to appeal. it was in thes closing arguments that attorney kevin steele asked the jury to show courage and do what was right. and given this guilty verdict, it appears to at least them that they have done just that. >> it seems we had somebody who felt that she was above the law.

>> the state top prosecutors finds herself on the other side of the law for abuse of power and lying under oath. the jurors hand down the guilty verdict for the illegal leaking of investigative documents and grand jury information to the media to get back at a former state prosecutor, and then lied under oath about what she had done. >> this was about the grand jury in montgomery county and lying to that grand jury. the evidence was overwhelming in that regard. >> the conviction on all counts was a crushing blow, i won't say otherwise. >> the defense legal time did not call any witnesses. >> in many of my cases no witnesses appeared and it is a strategy, and obviously we thought that it would work, but i will be the first person to say we were wrong. >> the judge was adamant that

kane not threaten any witnesses and took her passport awaiting sentencing. >> it is tragic beyond any measure. and i think she has to deal with. she is a very strong woman and she will deal with this. >> now again, felonony perjury carry the prison sentence. and governor tom wolf issued a statement say "there is no question that she should resign immediately. i implore attorney general kane to do what is right, but the commonwealth residents first and step down from office." other news, seven passengers are recovering from a bus crash

that shutdown germantown avenue. in happened in the nicetown section of philadelphia around 8:30. the route 23 bus collided with a car. it is not said who is to blame. and two groups crash over the statue of frank rizzo. thousands signed a petition calling rizzo a racist demanding the removal of the bronze sculpture. and others wanted it to stay. and the controversy boiled over this evening. and dann cuellar live at the rizzo statue in center city with more on the skirmish. dann? >> a rally in support of the police and the frank rizzo statue saying where it is right now. but things got a bit contentious when members of black lives matter showed up trying to disrupt what was going on. ♪ god bless america >> about 300 people gathered at

the plaza to rally in support of keeping the frank rizzo statue. >> extending one block to the municipal services building in support of keeping the frank rizzo statue. >> soon things turn chaotic when a handful of black lives matter protesters arrived on the scene with banners. >> police had to get between the two groups to prevent them from clark. -- clashing. >> it's a disgrace. how dare them! disrespect the philadelphia police department. >> when the rizzo and police supporters tried to march to the statue in center city, members of black lives matter tried to commandeer the march standing in front of the group. things got heated once again.

again, police using tremendous restraint tried to straight the two groups. at one point allowing the blm members and other supporters continue to the statue. >> i think black lives matter is over reacting just a little too much. >> and i think it is the most e ridiculous thing tried in the city of philadelphia. he was not a racist, number one. >> and blm members refused to be interviewed. >> i think the shirt says it all. >> the pro-rizzo supporters did make it to the statute and they vowed to fight to the bitter end to make sure the statue is not removed from in front of the civil services building. >> thank you. this drawn-out heat wave the sixth day and contributed to

deaths. and it is changing to hot and stormy as rain sweeps across the region. and cecily tynan is tracking it all live with double scan radar tonight. >> the showers and thunderstorms, good news that some lawns are getting watered and some gardens. this is the warm front and this will usher in a tremendous amount of humid tomorrow. and double scan showing a pretty intense cluster moving out of the washington, d.c. area. once they move in, they kind of lose their punch. not looking at any thunder or lightning here now, but a batch of rain stretching across route 55 in new jersey. this moved through philadelphia about a half-hour ago, and more moving out of maryland. they should be moving into kent county, delaware. what this will do is bring us a lot higher dewpoints than today. today the high 94 degrees, the sixth day of the heat wave. dewpoints in the upper 60s. the heat index was hot but bearable. 99 degrees saturday. the heat index soared up to 111. but tomorrow we are back in the

confirmed 40-year-old mark short of sinking spring killed his wife, three kids and even the family dog. and then turned the gun on himself. he left a note on the dining room table confessing to the horrific murder-suicide. last month megan short called police saying she was afraid of her husband, but she did not file charges. >> we advised her on how to get a protection from abuse order. in fact she said she could get one the next day but never followed through. >> she told friends she planned to take the kids and leave. he went out the next day and bought a gun. less than three weeks later, saturday, august 6, the very day megan and the kids were set to move out is the day that the police say mark used the gun to kill his family. the kids were still in their pajamas. he had taken them to hersheypark the day before. sentencing day for one of the men involved in astray-bullet shooting killing a 3-year-old girl. tynirah borum sitting on her front porch in gray ferry in

across the body. and now startling developments tonight. >> we learned jessica gave birth to the second son april 27th, a pregnancy she kept hidden from "action news," her family and local authorities. when children and youth services found out they quickly went in to remove that child amid more allegations of abuse. >> i was just hiding it because i didn't want them to take him away. >> jessica admits she gave birth to her second son, julius, in secret. when we first met her this summer she was fighting to regain custody of other 1-year-old when they found the child with more than two dozen fractures across his body. >> i just want this to end. i want him to be home and i want him to be happy. >> the happy baby. >> at the time jessica and her doctor told "action news" the

injuries were caused by a disorder and lack of vitamin d, a combination that may cause fragile bones. who she didn't tell us is that she is pregnant again. >> i am not legally obligated to tell someone i am pregnant. i was scared. i think anybody would be. >> that prompted her to give birth in lancaster county. >> i didn't want to give birth to my child and have them ripped out of my arms in the hospital, that's what they do. >> when julius was seven weeks ago, when she applied for state aid her secret was exposed. and they stepped in and took julius. >> i want them to know that it is going to be proven it is something medical. >> hospital records show that julius also has a fracture on his right tibia and the diagnosis again child abuse. and now jessica is facing our cameras a second time. >> why would i risk that, to put

myself in jail. if you are being accused of abuse from one child to another, why would i want to risk that spotlight? >> jessica had her newborn evaluated by a doctor at boston university, a specialist who diagnosed her and her first child with edf and vitamin d deficiency. >> a high degree of certainty that julius has that disorder. >> and telling them that combination and not child abuse can explain the bone injuries to both children. >> i wouldn't hesitate to have the children returned to the parents. >> when we reached out to berks county they would not comment saying that the law prohibits berks county children and youth from confirming or denying any involvement with the family. >> they can continue to fight, but we will continue to fight, also. we're not giving up. >> berks county also requested that jessica release complete medical records and undergoing a full body scan.

the doctor says the scan likely won't show anything because he says there may not be remnants of fractures that jessica suffered as child. on the campaign trail, hillary clinton in scranton, pennsylvania joined by favorite son, vice-president joe biden born there. and clinton's father also born in scranton and they tried to appeal to working-class voters. and joe biden said trump lacks tools to be president. saying he doesn't have a clue. >> i really mean it he doesn't seem to want to learn. he doesn't seem to think it matters. this man is totally, thoroughly unequalified to be president of the united states of america. >> vice-president biden made an empassioned endorsement of hillary clinton at the dnc in philadelphia, but this is the
