we just learned a man died in that shooting. at this hour, police are trying to piece together what happened as the search for the gunman continues at this hour. the big story tonight is the search for the person who shot and killed a man and injured a 5-year-old girl. it happened this evening in burlington city, new jersey. police have been canvassing that area but so far have not found the gunman. action news is live at the scene on new york and east federal streets with more. jeff. >>reporter: walter, police just gave us an update. they said that 24-year-old victim who was shot in had head has die -- in the head has died at the hospital. police are skill on the scene here five hours after gun fire rang out and a manhunt began. >> a search of the neighborhood was completed to no avail. the suspect is still on the loose. >>reporter: police are looking for a gunman who fled after a shooting outside a home on the 100 block of east federal

street. a 5-year-old girl and a man in his 20s were both injured just before 7:00. the man was shot in the head and the child has nonlife threatening injuries. police officers from several departments spent hours searching backyards and wooded areas. police are confident the gunman is not hiding out in this immediate neighborhood. >> the investigate is preliminary. i don't want to give false hopes to anybody. we have made progress but i definitely want to consult with the prosecutor's office and detectives before we come out with information but we have made progress. >>reporter: police say the girl was injured in some way but doctors are still trying to figure out exactly how she was hurt. again, that 24-year-old man has died at the hospital. police now searching for his killer. reporting live in burlington city, new jersey, jeff chirico.

walter. walter: police in philadelphia are still sorting out what lead up to a triple shooting in west philadelphia this morning. authorities say it started when a 21-year-old woman and a neighbor were confronted by the woman's ex-boyfriend at breakfast. police say he followed the pair back to the 100 block of south 55th street. another argument ensued between the group and that escalated into a gun fight. two people were critically injured. the third is in stable condition. a 25-year-old man has died following a shooting in north philadelphia this evening. it happened at about 5:00 o'clock along the 600 block of north 12th street. investigators say the man was shot repeatedly. he was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later traffic was backed up this evening in atlantic city following a crash that happened near white horse pike on martin

people of pennsylvania can now purchase wine at dozens of grocery stores after the state's recent decision to allow businesses to expand their liquor licenses. but not all stores were ready today. trish hartman has detailed. >>reporter: they will be grilling out this saturday. >> steaks and shrimp. >>reporter: and for the first time she can pick up a bottle of wine to pair with it at the grocery store. >> it's actually a lot more convenient than having to go to the wine store and then home. >>reporter: the shop-rite has expanded restaurant licenses allowing it to sell up to four standard bottles of wine per person. while there's a limited selection now, a store official says being a family-owned store allowed them to start sales quickly and plan to expand their offerings in the coming months >> it was just here the other day. this is a shock. it's the first day they did

darby. people were there handing out signs supporting law enforcement. people are encouraged to put the signs on their yards. >> the best thing that we can do to help them is order lawn signs and have everybody have them on their lawn so that when a police officer if they drive down the street can see all the support that our community is giving. walter: they'll hand out more signs later on this month. it was more than just about fashion today in south philadelphia. this is stomp the runway and its goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence. it was established by a local designer four years ago following the murder of local model vanessa watson. tonight they were wearing clothing for a message. proceeds will go to local charities. the wheels were turning and burning tonight in westchester for the 12 lath annual iron hill

walter: police corporate to investigate that dead -- continue to investigate that deadly new jersey transit bus crash that killed two people. one of the bus drivers involved has been released from the hospital. he has more than 35 years of experience. the two buses collided yesterday in newark. one of the buses, as you can see, was nearly torn in half. the other bus driver and a passenger were killed. investigators think speed may have been a factor firefighters in california have made significant progress battling a huge wild fire near los angeles. the so called blue cut fire is nearly 70% contained at this hour. many of the people who live here are starting to return home only

to find widespread destruction. more than 100 homes have been destroyed and 58 square miles were torched. the fire started on tuesday. still no word how it started now that flood waters are starting to recede in louisiana, crews are going house to house looking for signs of life. at least 13 people died in the flooding that swept through parts of southern louisiana after torrential rains last week. officials estimate 60,000 homes have been damaged and many people have not been able to see if their homes are among the casualties. >> i'm terrified. i just pray that all is well, you know. and the lord, you know, god is still in control. walter: president obama is scheduled to visit baton rouge

sometime on tuesday. the good people of bucks county came together today to help the flood victims in louisiana. action news on the scene there for a flood drive. a steady stream of people stopped by to donate food and basic items. all those donations will go straight to louisiana. u.s. swimmer ryan lochte and three u.s. swimmers may face disciplinary action from the u.s. olympic committee after lying about being robbed in row rio. the three swimmers kept in rio for the investigation are back in the u.s. now. they arrived in miami last night. bentz released a statement saying he never lied about being robbed while out with his friends in rio. he also says he never saw anyone break down a bathroom door and that lochte is the one who tore

pockets of showers and thunderstorms firing off in the afternoon. scattered showers and storms across the region and they continue to move through until about 10:30, 11:00 o'clock tomorrow night. some could be on the strong if not severe side. so what to expect tomorrow, heavy afternoon showers and storms. the best bet to find the activity any time between 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. tomorrow night. big concern with strong gusty winds and drenching downpours that could lead to localize flooding. there's a lot of moisture in the atmosphere ahead of this cold front. here's the big change, however, in the wake of this cold front we're tracking big time relief by monday. dew points still in the upper 60s, lower 70s tomorrow.
