breaking news this morning, one person is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in wilmington. just after 5:30 a.m., an suv and car collided at pennsylvania avenue, the impact trapped one of the drivers. it took rescue crews a half-hour to free him. the person is at christiana hospital. police are actively searching for the driver of the suv involved in this. they say are that person ran away from the scene. we'll continue to follow the

breaking news story all morning long. turning to the weather, storm tracker 6 live is live showing potentially strong storms moving in from the west. they are expected to hit us later this afternoon. let's go outside with meteorologist chris sowers with more. hi, chris. >> reporter: yeah, things could get active this afternoon. we'll have increasing clouds, lunchtime or so, the thunderstorms fire up. 74 in reading and allentown. philadelphia, 74. wilmington, same number. millville, 68. atlantic city, 66. cape may, 73. the dewpoints continue to climb. now we lucked out yesterday, we started out oppressively humid, but during the afternoon drier air work to the surface, even though it was hot, it felt all right. dewpoints in the low 60s. today not so lucky. we start in the upper 60s and low 70s. the numbers will increase to the mid 70s later on. it will be very, very oppressive

out here. future tracker 6 confirming that, wilmington, dover, mid 70s. almost the entire viewing area by the first part of the afternoon is in the mid 70s. watch what happens we get the powerful line of thunderstorms later this afternoon. the cold front slams through, all of a sudden the dewpoints drop into the 50s by tomorrow afternoon. that's a breath of fresh air that will feel very, very refreshing. we have another 18 hours to go of oppressive humidity before cooler and more comfortable changes arrive. satellite and radar, the frontal system we're watching was harmless enough. nothing going on out to the west except for showers, it will get more active as the day progresses. 11:00 a.m., increase going clouds 82 -- increasing clouds, 82 degrees, high humidity levels. 1:00 p.m., outlying suburbs, 85.

"action news" was there overnight as smoke bellowed from the home in pine valley. investigators say the home on the 900 block of summit avenue was being repaired at the time of the fire. a person passing by noticed the flames. by the time firefighters got there, the flames were raging. the home was sold two weeks ago

for $729,000. the fire is under control. no injuries reported. burlington county authorities continue their pursuit of a shooter who killed a man. a child was injured in the violence. jeff chirico has more on the manhunt from burlington city. >> reporter: an extensive search of the yorkshire neighborhood was completed to no avail. the suspect is on the loose. >> reporter: burlington police are looking for a gunman who fled after a shooting on east federal street. a 5-year-old girl and a man in his 20s was injured before 7:00 p.m. the child was non-life threatening injuries. the man was shot in the head and taken to cooper university hospital. officers spent hours searching backyards and wooded areas. they are confident that the gunman is not hiding out in the north yorkshire neighborhood. officials will not say who they are looking for. >> i don't want to give any false hopes to anybody. we have made progress, i meant

lochte is the man you see pulling to the ground a framed metal advertisement, adding he was unsure why, you see one of the attendants pick up the poverty frame. there was a heat the exchange, here you can see the swimmers sitting lochte standing. that's the point that lochte inflamed the situation. again, i cannot speak to his actions, but ryan stood up and began to yell at the guards. after jack and i tugged at him in an attempt to get him to sit back down. it was then that the one of the guards pulled a gun. a customer at the station offered to help and defuse the standoff. lobility -- lochte released his own tepid apology for not being candid. . >> no police, no police. >> reporter: they were saying no police. >> yeah.
