person has been pronounced dead at the scene. a second person has been rushed to cooper university hospital in extremely critical condition. no word what led up to the violence. stay with "action news" on air and online for updated information as soon as it becomes veilable. meanwhile, homicide detectives have taken over the case in old city which is now a murder. witnesses tell "action news" it all started with an argument that quickly escalated. tonight the investigation continues into what led to the stabbing death of a camden county man inside the blue martini club. "action news" reporter christie ileto talked to the victim's family tonight and joins us live outside philadelphia police headquarters with details. christie. monica, andrew hazelton's family is trying to make sense of what happened. they believe he got caught in the middle of an argument between a woman trying to make her boyfriend jealous and he ended up paying for it with his life.

she's still texting her father, says she just wants whoever did this to have a conscience. >> turn himself in and be in jail for the rest of his life. >> reporter: now, monica, it's tragic this 8-year-old has to deal with something like that. so far no arrests have been made and anyone with information about who may be responsible is asked to contact police. reporting live here at police headquarters, christie ileto, "channel 6 action news." monica? >> thank you, christie. a bridgeton police officer who shot and killed a man during a traffic stop on new year's eve in 2014 will not face federal charges. new jersey prosecutors announced their decision today. the incident was captured on dash cam video. officers found a handgun in 36-year-old jerame reid's glove box. he was told to put his hands and up not to move but he st. petersburged out of the vehicle anyway with his hands u. that is when he was shot. prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue

criminal charges. police have now released a mug shot of the south jersey man accused of beating his girlfriend's toddler to death. this is the face of zachary tricoche, the 24-year-old accused of murdering a 2-year-old over the weekend. the pence saucon man is in the camden county jail tonight awaiting a hearing tomorrow. dann cuellar joins us in the satellite center with the latest on this disturbing case. >> monica, as too often is the case, the mother's boyfriend has been charged in the heinous crime. he will, of course, have his day in court. but so far there is no logic, no reason offered that could even remotely begin to explain such an inexplicable crime. >> reporter: this is the man who has been charged in the murder of the 2-year-old. he is identified as 24-year-old zachary tricoche, the boyfriend of the boy's mother. it was just before 11:30 saturday night that the paramedics rushed to the apartment in the 5900 block of mansion boulevard in pennsauken. this after the mother made a frantic call to 911. >> my boyfriend is like trying

to get him to wake up. >> can you see if -- can you feel if he's breathing? >> he ain't moving. >> reporter: paramedics transported the boy to keeper -- cooper university hospital where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour later. joe holly lives in the house right next door. >> it's sad. it was sad, and you hear -- it's not -- don't catch me by surprise. you hear it every day. it's always some tragedy going on so -- should not be, but it happens. >> reporter: tricoche is being held on charges on first degree murder in connection with the fatal beating. the child who has not been identified does have siblings but it's unclear who was home at the time or if the other children were also subjected to abuse. zachary tricoche will have his first court appearance tomorrow afternoon in camden. at that time we expect to learn more about this alleged crime. live here, i'm dann cuellar, "channel 6 action news." >> thank you, dann. crews had to help passengers off

this stuck roller coaster today at hershey park. 27 riders carefully climbed off the sidewinder this afternoon at about 4:00 after it stopped working. the steel coast serknown for its twists and turns. fortunately, no one was hurt. the malfunction is being investigated tonight. on friday, another roller coaster at that park also became stuck mid-ride for about six minutes. we are finally experiencing some relief from the extreme heat and high humidity. tonight, the streets in rittenhouse square were full of folks venturing outside to enjoy the cooler temperatures. cecily tynan live at the "action news" big board with details of how long this comfortable weather will stick around. we love it. >> it certainly is a nice change, isn't it? today's high, 83 degrees. that's two degrees below normal. and that came with dew points in the 50s a. that's a very dry air mass. that's why it felt so good. the reason why satellite 6 along with action radar showing that cold front that moved through last night that brought us some heavy rain has really cleared the door, opened the door for

president obama will be in louisiana tomorrow taking a trip to see the flooding devastation firsthand. almost 3,000 people are still living in shelters more than a week after the storm. others are still stuck in their neighborhoods surrounded by high water that has not yet receded. >> i didn't go to school the last couple of days because all the water. >> roads including major highways are still closed while that cleanup continues. state officials say $20 million in aid has been awarded so far and more is on the way. dozens of fires are burning across the western part of the country. firefighters are doing what they can to save homes in nine states from california to nevada. dry and windy conditions are fueling these large flames in oregon where hundreds of people are being told to evacuate now. one of the fires grew 20 times its size in only a few hours. meanwhile, crews are finally gaining ground on a fire in

california that destroyed 100 homes just last week. for the first time in eight years, casino profits in atlantic city are increasing. the division of game enforcement says the city's eight casinos saw profits rise by 21% in the first six months of this year. it is a sign the struggling industry may be stabilizing. the borgata reported biggest increase with a 27% jump from last year followed by the tropicana posting a 26% increase. an alarming mail sercausing controversy and raising high brows as it circulates among parents in northampton county. it is questioning the safety of liberty high school and even urging families to send their teens to a new charter school instead. the advertisement makes reference to a student's drug arrest last year. it then says "why worry about this type of student at school? come visit arts academy charter school." the bethlehem school

superintendent is appalled. >> liberty high school students, families, parents, grandparents who have gone to liberty high school deserve better than basically a political hit piece that came through the mail. >> officials with the charter school strongly denied they had anything to do with it. the state auditor general said he's committed to finding out who sent that mailing and why. dredge something underway right now off the coast of long beach island. "action news" got a firsthand look at the process aboard the lynn ert island. it's one of the three vessels currently working on a $138 million project to build berms and dunes to protect the coast from hurricane and storm damage. once the sand arrives on the beach, bulldozers, of course, move it around and when they're finished, the beach will be extended by several hundred feet. >> starting with about an 8 million cubic yards of sand and then some the storm damage we had through the winter, we're actually going to go back and fix areas, till we get to 11 million cubic yards of sand.

republicans are stepping up attacks on hillary clinton's handling of sensitive government information. some congressional republicans issued subpoenas today to three technology companies that either made or serviced the private email server clinton used while she was secretary of state. at the same time, a federal judge is ordering the state department to look at nearly 15,000fbi documents from its investigation into the emails. former democratic congresswoman gabby giffords is endorsing the re-election bid of republican senator pat toomey. giffords made that endorsement today citing toomey's record on gun control. jerry sandusky is back in court today for the second day of his three-day appeals hearing. the former penn state assistant football coach wants his child molestation conviction overturned because he says his original lawyer did not

adequately represent him. today, his new lawyer spoke on conflicting statements from a man who said an assistant coach saw him being sexually abused by san dus any a penn state shower. so-called victim number two settled abuse claims with penn state but did not testify against sandusky at trial. sandusky testified during the first day of this hearing and strongly denied any guilt. sandusky is currently serving a 30 to 60-year sentence. a final report out tonight on the deadly alligator attack at disney that left a toddler dead says little could be done to prevent what happened. wildlife officials say the seven-foot alligator grabbed 2-year-old lane thomas when he bent down. a report says the child's father tried to pry open that gator's mouth, but the animal broke away. trappers have killed six alligators since the attack. a federal judge in texas blocked the obama's policy on

transgender bathrooms. they directed public schools across the country to allow children to use bathroomles their choice. but a judge put that ruling on hold. that means federal agencies cannot take action against public schools that choose not to follow that directive. u.s. olympic swimmer ryan lochte lost two sponsor today. the swimmer and three teammates lied about an armed robbery at the olympics in brazil. lochte has since apologized for embellishing what officials now say was really a dispute over vandalism by the swimmers at a gas station. health officials say the zika virus could soon spread beyond florida. so far two neighborhoods in miami have been identified as zika hot zones. the cdc has issued a new warning for pregnant women telling them to avoid traveling to miami-dade

county. health officials are worried that the zika virus could spread to the gulf coast, which has been hit by recent flooding. the mos quito population there is expected to grow because of all the standing water. >> whenever you have a situation of flooding, it leaves areas behind where mosquitoes can breed. and until you get that water cleaned up, it's a hot spot for zika, for west nile. >> president barack obama request an emergency $1.9 billion in february for mosquito control and vaccine development. but lawmakers left washington for their summer recess without approving that money. in tonight's "healthcheck," a new study finds instagram pictures can actually predict depression. researchers at harvard university looked at nearly 44,000 instagram photos from volunteers, some of whom had a history of depression, and they found that people who are depressed posted pictures that were less bright, not saturated with color. the studies will found depressed

71 degrees. interior south jersey, temperatures in the 60s. hammonton, 63. browns mill, 62. hockessin, 67 degrees. and along the coast, the ocean temperature, 73. temperatures there in the low 70s. satellite 6 along with action radar showing we have high pressure that's moving right over us. and that is squeezing all the moisture out of the atmosphere. not a cloud in the sky. and with that high pressure, temperatures really taking a tumble tonight. 62 degrees in philadelphia, the low. that's five degrees below normal. but many suburbs in the 50s. allentown, 51. reading, 52. trenton, 57. millville dropping all the way down to 56 degrees. so really a great night to give the air conditioners a break. and tomorrow is going to be very similar to today. plenty of sunshine. today's high, 83. tomorrow may be 82 degrees. with that high pressure right over us so it won't be quite as breezy as today. but this high pressure is on the move. on wednesday, it starts to migrate to the east. and what that does, we get the

return flow out of the south. so it will begin to warm up. still humidity should be the dew points in the 50s. 87 degrees. but before that cold front moves through late in the day on friday, temperatures will be spiking in the 90s with an increase in humidity. if you are down the shore tomorrow, enjoy. it's going to be beautiful. put the 61screen on. plenty of sunshine. winds out of the northeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. well, we are getting close to the peak of tropical storm season. there are three systems in the atlantic. tropical depression fiona is falling apart. gaston just named will be a fish storm. so no threat to land. what i'm track something this tropical wave, got a 50% chance of becoming a tropical storm and some computer models do bring it near florida by early next week so that's something i'll continue to monitor. back at home, the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, just gorgeous, 82 degrees. low humidity tomorrow. wednesday, humidity still in check. and warms up to 87. thursday, getting more muggy, 89
