to 8-year-old gabrielle carter. she died yesterday two days after being shot in the head playing on a porch in camden. action news reporter jeff chirico joins us live with details. >> reporter: walter, that vigil is expected to take place right in front of her home. you can see that home where the balloons and stuffed animals cover the porch. meanwhile, it's been three days since the shooting and police say they have few leads in the case. >> three days after the deadly shooting police are still on the scene. they're trying to put pressure on the community to share what they know about the gunman who claim little gabrielle's life. balloons marked the spot where she was caught in the cross fire playing on a porch near her home. a bullet to the head can claimed her life. officers flooded the sheet searching for evidence and handing out flyers, despite efforts, police chief scott thompson told act news few community members have come forward. >> it's been difficult for us to

get additional information. we're hoping. >> reporter: the reward stand at $24,000. she passed friday night, they're pleading guilty with the public to help little gabrielle get justice >> if you know something step up. this is not going to help our children, our children is the future. we need help with this. >> reporter: and police say they are going to release surveillance video from this case, only as a last resort. it's unclear how long and how many days will pass before they decide to release that video. once again, that vigil expected to saturday at 7:00. if you know anything, call 911. jeff chirico, channel 6, action news. police in egg harbor township searching for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian early this morning, the victim was crossing black horse pike about 1:30 when it

happened. police were working to identify the victim and getting a good description. investigators in salem county are searching for the cause of a house fire, the victim's broth brother is fire fire and he says the victim's son spoke to action news reporter trish hartman at the scene >> 26-year-old ramir heard was embraced by friends and family outside of his home in salem. identified as tasha roots died in the plays. he was staying were any family member when the fire started. he remembers his mom as an independent woman who taught him and his brother to work hard. >> try to face it. she was a strong woman. >> reporter: her older brother is a 30 year firefighter with the city of wilmington and came

to the scene as soon as he heard the news >> courageous as a firefighter. you know, have a family member, you know, so i know what the, fire will do. >> reporter: investigators with the new jersey state fire marshall's office spent hours looking for a cause, relatives gathered to comfort one another remembering a woman who always put her two sons first. >> whatever it takes to get the job done for family, she was always there. >> she will be staying with family members, her younger son is 18 and had just started his freshman year at college in north carolina last weekend. he's now back in town to mourn with family. reporting in salem new jersey, trish hartman, channel 6 action news. in check chester county two people escape injury. the fire broke out about 11:00 last night inside a home on the 100 block of ridge wood circle. the people who lived there were able to escape but the home was

destroyed. this afternoon at the lois in the northeast, it was about fire safety. union fire company teamed up with the first alert folks to launch this campaign designed to help people be prepare just in case. workshops stressed the importance of smoke alarms with fresh batteries sales creating an escape plan. molly the safety dog was on hand it was a little bit less humid but still hot, the strep could develop into another heat wave, and there's concern about rip current at the shore. meteorologist melissa magee is at the action news big board with our first check of the accu weather forecast. >> reporter: the last weekend of august was hot but not terribly humid. the high we're seeing coming in at 93. with the easterly wind it's 89 in the 70 in the poconos, at the coast, as you're picking up that on shore flow, 81 in cape may and 81 degrees as well in beach haven end. we talked about the due points, the humidity certainly on the

low side. as you look at the number. points to the north and west. due point numbers are in the upper 50's, lower 60's. not terribly humid across the region but the moisture with that on shore flow and that easterly quicking up on west ward down to millville and dover at this hour. if you're stepping out we got you covered the rest of the evening, drop down to 85 at 7:00 p.m. under mostly sunny sky, mostly clear at 8:00. 79 at 9:00 p.m. and the upper 70's at 10:00. 11:00 mostly clew skies. there is a concern as we head throughout the rest of oh you are weekend. long periods swells thanks to gaston well to the east of bermuda, and the on shore flow, we do have a moderate risk for rip current along the new jersey coast line and also in delaware.

a popular farmer's market in bucks county celebrated dogs, they were invited to bring their four-legged friends as part of the dog days of summer events, there were special vendors on hand with items geared toward dogs including dog beds and treat. there was plenty of fresh summer produce. kid in wilmington spent the day washing cars for a great cause, these children are raising money to support the stop the violence prayer chain foundation. the kids also offered a special thank you to city council president theo gregory. one of the rooms will be named after him. he helped the foundation get a van so they could transport the kids to different programs. it was a very, very special day in coatesville as the community honored its police officers their hard work and did he dedication. kids had a chance to enjoy a giant slide, a bounce house even pony ride, organizers say in

skversky channel 6 action news. thanks. jeff. the eagles chances in the nfc east have improved. that's because once again, tony romo will will be out for awhile. the cowboy quarterback broken a bone if his back's could miss six to ten weeks. he suffered the injury when he was hit from behind. romo las has a history of back injuries. remember last year he missed 12 games with a collar bone. eagles and cowboys meet week seven. it will be interesting to see if romo is back by then. the phillies will try again, jeremy hellickson on the hill. the schuylkill rivers on the beach. the first for these two guys, ben simmons and joel embiid. look at the big man go. looks pretty good to me. he says he's ready to finally hit the court. and he's telling action news he feels 100%, he will be a full go
