struggle for a weapon. "action news" reporter jeff chirico is live in trenton with the details, jeff? >> reporter: hi walter. folks say more people could have been hurt if not for that officer. they say this block was packed with people attending a party after a funeral. argument broke out just before 10:00 on the 500 block of roosevelt street. witnesses say man who died, 34 year-old alfred toe, grabbed a gun from his brother's car and pointed it at another man. according to prosecutors, 30 year-old conn stan teen toe disarmed his older brother but got shot in the hand in the process. that is when an off-duty officer attending that party stepped n he ordered constantine to take the gun and he complied but police say alfred toe, one witnesses say initially got the gun tried to grab a weapon from the could be. we then pick up the story from there. >> i was standing right there.

little information, about this case. the driver of this car was killed after losing control, and slamming into a utility pole this morning. the investigators say driver was traveling down chews landing road when it happen, car plowed into the pole, splitting the vehicle in half. in word on the driver's identity or why the driver lost control. overnight shooting, ended up with a man, in critical condition. victim was riding a motor psyched until front of the steve's prince of states, on comly street when someone shot him in the head. investigators think shooting was as a result of the argument involving victim and several other men. so far no arrests have been made. investigators are trying to figure out if an overnight case of groping in south philadelphia is connected to a string of reese even sexual assaults in the city, believed to be commit by a man on a bike. especially aware of anyone riding on the sidewalk or near the sidewalk. >> reporter: folks like martha hitchin woke up to disturbing news in their south philadelphia neighborhood, yet another indecent assault being investigate by police, another suspect seen fleeing on the bike. police say woman was walking home from work on the 1600 block of bainbridge when she was groped. >> i don't think it is wise to walk late at night but sometimes people have no choice if they get off a bus, subway they have to walk. >> reporter: this is latest of assault in the series of sexual assaults that the police have been trying to solve. last week police held a news conference and released surveillance video of a male on a bike, caught on cameras groping a woman wearing a dress, and then riding away. police say he is a hispanic man in his 20's with a stocky build between 5-foot four and six, wearing i black and orange backpack with the chest strap. investigators believe the same man is behind four similar assaults this month and investigate to go see if this latest incident is connected.

yeah, once again we have a heat wave on our hand. normal for us this time of the year is 84 degrees. the despite all of that august heat, it certainly didn't feel too bad outside. currently in philadelphia, coming in at 89 degrees. eighty's in allentown. seventy-eight in the poconos. at the coast in cape may nice on shore wind, 80 degrees there, 81 for beach haven and atlantic city. looking at dew point numbers we're not bad. we have seen worse for this time of the year, dew point numbers were were in the 95 corridor and north and west are in the the middle to lower 60's. more moisture for cape may and dover especially with the on shore push of moisture across the region at this hour. here's satellite six with action radar you can see it is dry and quiet across the region. we're tracking a cold front in the eastern great lakes and some of this moisture will start to dive to the south and east as we go through the rest of tonight the but there is not much moisture associated with this so i would allow for a spotty, isolated shower for the rest of this evening, otherwise, we're staying dry. here's the call as we look

year. this is more than likely going to go down as one of the warmest augusts on record in philadelphia. eighty-nine in the city at this hour. eighty-seven in reading. seventy-eight in the poconos. at the coast in cape hey nice on shore breeze at 79. eighty in beach haven. eighty-two in dover. eighty-six in the west and lancaster. looking at dew point as cross the region certainly not bad along that 95 corridor and to the north and west. dew points are in the middle to lower 60's. we have 70-degree dew points popping up for dover and cape may. that is partly because we are dealing with that constant push of moisture from the easterly direction, heading in across our coastal communities. more moisture at the coast because we are closer to the atlantic. your satellite six with action radar is there that cold front that is still off to our north and west, this will start to dip on off to the south and east but with very little fanfare, as it works its way in to mid-atlantic region and rest of the delaware and lehigh valley. call from accu weather for rest of tonight, partly cloudy, warm, humid, isolated

shower and storm. another wise we will stay dry, dropping down to 67 in the suburbs and 70 in philadelphia for the overnight low. taking it down to the tropics, things are starting to heat up, we were talking about this earlier. we have tropical depression number nine that just formed to the south, of florida. we will watch that closely. hurricane gaston that moves quickly becoming a category three hurricane and we have tropical depression number eight. gaston we have talk about yesterday and day before that with these long period swells and in combination with the easterly wind across coastal sections of new jersey and delaware there is high surf and rip current concerns. tropical depression number eight is something we have to track closely as it gets closer and closer to our coast. we will show you the track, with tropical depression number eight, wind sustained at 35 miles an hour to the west at 9 miles an hour and this could more than likely strengthen within the next day or so and clip outer banks of the not carolina before it heads out to sea but by wednesday it is pretty close to the jersey coastline and we
