breaking news. five people are now charged in a deadly shootout on the atlantic city expressway. several other drivers called into 911 as shots were fired between two moving vehicles in egg harbor township. chad pradelli joins us live from the regional medical center where victims are being treated. what is the latest tragedy here? >> reporter: they are not releasing the state of the injuries, but everybody is in stable condition. this investigation is still ongoing as detectives are looking for at least one other vehicle and others that may have been involved in the shooting in the eastbound lanes of the ac expressway. it was a rolling shootout down a busy atlantic city expressway. new jersey state police say that when the bullets stopped flying four people were injured. in this ford explorer found in egg harbor township.

they found four weapons, three handguns and an ak-47 style assault rifle at the scene. down the street they found this nissan maxima pulled over and the passenger was dead of a gunshot wound and the passenger was not injured. after an extensive investigation into the night. so far five people have been charged with weapons offenses. police say that a black dodge ram pickup may also be involved. detectives are looking for the vehicle and the occupants. it was last seen getting off the expressway in the pleasantville area. state police there will certainly be more charges in this case. including possible murder charges, but of course detectives are trying to gather ballistic evidence to see who fired the fatal shot. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action

news." >> all right chad thank you. we are following more breaking news from chester county this afternoon where a truck slammed into a building in honey brook. police say that the truck first struck another vehicle and then crashed into the building on the 4100 block of horseshoe pike. chopper 6 hd is over the wreck this morning and we are work to find out whether or not anyone was hurt. and one out of control car left a panel of destruction in south jersey, it took out a pole, a front porch and damaged other parked cars in camden early this morning. annie mccormick joins us live from the crash scene with more on the driver's condition and how this played out this morning. >> reporter: that is right, according to family members, the driver remains at cooper hospital at this hour in critical condition and crews are cleaning up after this crash that happened hours ago including pseg who had to put up

a new utility pole. this started the violent chain of destruction this morning. >> what drew my attention to it was the sound of him hitting the fourth car in line. >> after driving at a high rate of speed. the driver lost control and snapped a utility poll in half and hit parked cars and destroyed a portion of this park. >> it's exploding like all over. and just come back and it looks like this -- >> came this way to the pole and jumped all the way up on the porches and when he hit the porch he hopped over my mother's car. >> it ejected the driver. medics rushed him to nearby cooper medical hospital in critical condition. >> he was just trying to get home he had my mother's car and

just trying to get home because she needed to be to work soon. >> his family says that all he knew was that he had to return the vehicle before his mother had to go to work. now they are praying for his recovery. >> the family is praying for him. i mean it's just heavy on my heart right now. >> reporter: and back out here live, the owner of the apartment building says this is the second time in two years that an out of control vehicle traveling on haddon avenue crash nood a building and police say the investigation is on going. alicia back to you. >> thank you. now to a developing story in northeast philadelphia, detectives are responding to a possible home invasion and sex assault. the inden was first reported overnight on the 5100 block, within the last 30 minutes, police were still on the scene. we are working to find out more

details and we'll bring you updates on air and online at 6abc.com. >> a tropical weather system is expected to strengthen off the coast of north carolina. it's outer banks could get strong winds and flooding because of this storm. the national weather center is monitoring this and a warning is issued for the outer banks. the jersey shore remains under a higher risk of rip currents because of that storm brewing out at sea. david murphy has more on that. >> reporter: it may be a few days before we get rid of the problem down at the shore. the cause of this is hurricane gaston, a category two hurricane season was a three for a while. it's hundreds of miles away but still pushing swells across the ocean and into the delaware and jersey beaches and giving us the

piling up and causing rip currents. and dangerous heavy surf. there is that tropical depression off the coast of the carolinas. it does look like it will do a curve off the coast of north carolina and then shoot right past us and that storm would also be pushing water in on the beach and perhaps continuing our problems with rip currents. finally transcript number nine coming across the northern portion of florida and shooting out in this direction and that one may chop up the water and give us problems. two issues we are talking about the first is rip currents, if you get caught in a rip current, you don't try to swim back to shore against it. it's easy to get out of these go parallel to the beach north or south and into the escape zone, and you are out and it's easier to come back. and be careful of the heavy surf

and it could lead to back and neck injuries if you get pounded down into the water. and listen to your lifeguards and swim near them. otherwise a nice day, a lack of cloud cover out there. low 80s down at the shore and humid out there with dew points in the mid-60s but alicia generally speaking as long as you are away from places like cape may and dover it's better humidity wise than yesterday. we'll have the afternoon and a nice change in the weather pattern coming up and more on the tropical storms and where they may be headed. >> i am holding on tight waiting for this one. all right david. pennsylvania could get a new attorney general today. they are poised to vote on bruce beamers nomination. beamer was kane's one time top aid and testified against her during trial. he is expected to fill the

investigators are looking to see what caused the balconies to crumble off the building in long beach. fortunately police say no one was hurt. an oklahoma woman is facing charges for shooting a man she found in her daughter's bedroom. police arrested valerie foely for assault with a deadly weapon. the man could survive and face charges, but police are still investigating the circumstances. police are increasing patrols after a new report of a person dressed as a clown trying to lure children into the woods in south carolina. deputies responded to an apartment complex last night when three children said that three clowns were trying to attract them with money in greenville county. a mother called police when her son and three others around her apartment building also claimed

they saw claims behind a basketball court. >> i thought my child was saying thing. the next day 30 kids came up to me and said did you see the clowns in the woods? investigators have no evidence of anyone in the apartments but added more patrols any way. a teen who pretended to be a doctor is arrested again. malaki robinson is accused of writing a bad check for a down payment for a car. police say he was practicing medicine without a license and also stealing from a patient. today he faces new charges of grand theft. >> this could be a dreaded list for parents, sending their kids off to college. an annual party school list with the university of madison, wisconsin, making the top spot. lehigh is number four and the university of delaware comes in at number 12.

accuweather forecast. we are hanging on tight for the break in heat and humidity. >> and it will come in the middle half of the work week. stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dry that is good. it's a pretty day certainly. sunshine is pouring down over the japanese garden and tea house in fairmount park. i love that spot. one of the prettiest corners of the city if you ask me. it's still warm and on the humid side. 85 is the current temperature and the dew point up over the 60 degree threshold but 64 is not bad. have you to go to 70 to be oppressive. winds out of the east at 6 miles per hour. not all that strong. 83 in wilmington and 81 in trenton and 80 in allentown undone on the beach it looks like low 80s pretty much everywhere you go. there is a lack of cloud cover out there, with high pressure in

control keeping us light and bright. lots of sun and less humid than yesterday and 85 and not quite as hot. at the shore today if you concentrate on the numbers it looks like a good day. 81 or so on the beach. ocean temperature 74. that is all good. but as we said a pronounced chance of rip currents and heavy surf. swim by the lifeguards and listen to what they say. you don't want to go out of the heavy surf and if there is a rip current, don't swim against it. it can catch you by surprise. think cleary and get yourself back to shore. 85 is the high in philadelphia and sunny and generally less humid and a tad on the sticky side and mainly clear tonight. dipping down to 70 and kind of a warm overnight. to the tropics we go hurricane

gaston is off the coast, sending the swells into the shore. tropical depression number eight to the south and a tropical storm over the next day or so. the same with tropical depression number nine, we'll start with the track on number eight. the new track has this missing cape hatteras, and pushing a lot of wind and rain in but not making total rainfall. again wednesday maybe into thursday, continuing to push the water into the jersey and delaware coastline. so more rip currents wednesday. and tropical depression number nine appears to be going into northern florida and then shoot out to sea and could give us problems with rough seas into the weekend. your exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast today's high is 89 and sunny and tomorrow 91 and a thunderstorm at night. assuming that front can get through fast enough on thursday, yes it could be a showery
