are off. i'm alicia vitarelli in the news it will now cost you double if are you caught using a cell phone behind the wheel in delaware. and community leaders take a stand after six children are shot in philadelphia. within the last week alone. but the big story on "action news" this noon is the new lead in the search for a driver that took a man's life. the victim was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by a vehicle and launched 30 feet into the air. now, police have recovered surveillance video that could help fine the person responsible for this hit and run. katherine scott joins us live from the crash scene in the feltonville section of philadelphia with the details on the search for the driver. >> reporter: that is right, the surge continues for the driver this noon, we are at the scene of the accident and officers were able to follow a trail of

leaked antifreeze and motor oil. in the surveillance footage that "action news" obtained. you'll see the minutes before this alleged hit and run driver dumped the vehicle in a back driveway. >> you see the 2000 gmc yucon pull up to the driveway, it sits and then a figure moves to the front of the car where the damage is, and then the driver continues halfway down the driveway, front end damage visible before dumping the vehicle off screen. and then the officers arrive and begin to inspect the driveway. >> there is a trail of antifreeze and motor oil. and the officer followed the trail about five blocks. >> this started at 11:30 at whitaker in feltonville. the victim was riding the motorcycle south and whitaker

when the yucon traveling north made a left turn and struck the motorcycle. >> i heard a loud boom. i didn't hear brake sounds or nothing just an impact. >> the the motorcyclist was launched about 30 feet and unconscious when first responder as rived and taken to einstein medical center when he was pronounced dead at 12:10 a.m. they saw that both airbags had deployed. there were no plates on the suv. >> the gmc did not have a license plate so it's possible that the driver removed the license plate in order to elude capture from police. >> reporter: it's hard to tell from the surveillance video if that is what the driver was doing in the back driveway, the yucon was towed for police evidence and the name of the victim is not released.

campaign stop at the hanover community center in bethlehem later this afternoon. a tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of florida as a tropical system spins in the gulf of mexico. another tropical depression is sitting off the coast of north carolina. this system sparked fears of high wind and plenty of rain and forecasters say that the storm will not make too much of an impact. in hawaii people are preparing for the first hurricane to ever make landfall on the big island. right now hurricane madeleine sits 150 miles east of hilo. officials are warning people to stock up on supplies and husker down. rip currents are a concern at the jersey shore and the rest of us are dealing with higher temperatures and the humidity. it won't leave us alone. sky 6 hd is looking live at penn's landing on this hot wednesday afternoon.

meteorologist, david murphy, is tracking the muggy conditions from the "action news" big board and we know we have relief coming. >> we'll have to wait another couple of days and maybe less than that. clouds mixes with sun and generally speaking another bright day and another warm one too. 89 in philadelphia and the same number on the thermometer in allentown untrenton and even numbers from the shore to the lehigh valley. and dew points are a little bit higher today than they were yesterday. especially in points south with dew points in the upper 70s and low -- and upper 70s in cape may. the dew point in philadelphia has eased back a bit since a more humid morning but sweaty out there and you'll want cool drivens and dealing with the temperatures and somewhat noticeable humidity. 10 off the record of 101, but well above the average of 83. tonight's overnight low 72 and that is above average.

we are looking at three different tropical systems, hurricane gaston is farther and farther away from us at this point. we have tropical depression 8, that looked like it would come into cape hatteras, that is passing us by and putting in an on shore flow at the beaches in new jersey and delaware. and tropical depression 9 will cross northern florida and shoot past our coast over the weekend and that means more problems with the rip currents but also heavy surf. a rip current danger along with heavy surf exists up and down the jersey coastline and the delaware coast. and all of our local beaches and plan on this being a problem today, tomorrow and the holiday weekend. we'll see if we can ease that back a bit for labor day. for now swim next to the lifeguards and take precautions.

meteorologist, david murphy, with a check of the accuweather forecast, the muggies are sticking around. >> reporter: they are. points south especially it's on the sticky side today. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dry and heading outside to the beach. cape may, new jersey, live on sky 6 and there are folks enjoying the water to a degree and hopefully they are all swimming next to the lifeguards and listening to the whistles, we have continuing problems at the shore today and through the weekend, you see the heavy surf on the beach and rip currents. 85 is your current temperature. the dew point slipped to 63 but other areas mid to upper 60s and other spots in the 70s. that is the range where we say it's pretty sticky out there. wins of 8 miles per hour. 83 in allentown and everyone within the range in most of the region. satellite shows you an increase in cloud cover the farther north

and west you go, we are expecting partly cloudy skies and the farther north more cloud cover at times. but the lehigh valley partly sunny overall and more humid than yesterday. and 85 is your high. 84 is your high up and down the beach and ocean temperature is 77, but with the heavy surf and rip currents, it's not the best beach day in terms of diving into the water, you only want to go to your waist. and the lifeguards in most areas will tell you that. listen to them right away. if you get caught in a rip current you do not want to swim back to shore against it. you want to easily, gently swim north or south parallel to the beach. we hit this all the time on our newscast but if you get caught in one of these it can cause you to panic. that is the way to get out of it it's not that hard. today's high in philadelphia is

91 with winds on the light side. overnight muggy and cloudy and a late thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. 72 is the overnight low. and here are the thunderstorms between 11:30 and 1:30 in the morning, bright and early tomorrow we may have something else to show you. and a chance that others pop up in the afternoon and i see this more and more on the models. hurricane gaston is less and less of an issue for us. tropical depression 8 veered away from us, but putting the heavy surf currentses on the beaches and the second tropical depression probably become a tropical storm at some point and probably holds off until thursday night and friday before it pushes through northern florida, this track by the way is moving more and more north so it looks like tampa and orlando
