75 miles per hour. it will be the first hurricane to make landfall in 11 years, you have to go back to 2005 with hurricane wilma, you see the structure of the storm, well defined now and the eye is developing in the center of hermine there. where you don't have cloud cover and the strongest winds are situated right around the eye wall as it heads to the coast of florida not too far away to the north and east. as you look at stormtracker 6 live double scan you see the feeder bands are beginning to spiral into the west coast of florida where they see several inches of rain and up to a foot of rain as it slowly pushes to the north and east. as we look at the very latest, 115 miles of apalachicola expected to make landfall late tonight and tomorrow morning. and the track going into south carolina and the lighter red around the actual track is called the cone of uncertainty

of where hermine could fluctuate or move. as it it heads to the north that cone of uncertainty expands in real estate. and stalls and drifts saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday off our coastline, but too close to call at this point. but it will be close enough that we'll have to worry about coastal erosion as well as a lot of coastal flooding and as of right now, we have warning in effect. and coastal storm warnings in south carolina and north carolina. and by tomorrow this will expand to our shore line as well. meteorologist, melissa magee, is at the shore in ocean city. no matter the track, the shore will feel the impact no matter what this holiday weekend?

>> reporter: that is right adam. i am talking to a lot of people here. one is paul, he is visiting here for a week and hermine will not really damper his plans. are you sticking around through the holiday weekend? >> for sure. >> you are not concerned with the heavy winds and rains. >> they don't call it wildwood for nothing. >> wind is not going to chase us away. >> i appreciate it. he is here with his son and wife. after that we'll be tracking hermine. we'll talk about what to expect and the shore impact here in wildwood and the other coastal communities saturday through sunday. this is a prolonged shore wind event. up to 60 miles per hour, and coastal flooding and erosion into the weekend and heavy rain and flooded roads as well. shore impacts of the weekend, if

you have to rank the days, friday certainly looks low, that is going to be a great day to get out and enjoy. saturday in the morning, on the low side, saturday afternoon and evening it turns high as the winds start to increase by that same thing on sunday and by monday some moderate concern as the storm by then will start to weaken and pull away from the shore line. we'll have much more on what to expect with hurricane hermine as it works its way up the coast. for now i'll send it back inside to you. >> i like that guy. they don't call it wildwood for nothing. lets go farther north, other shore towns are bracing for any weather coming their way. >> nora muchanic continues our coverage in seaside park. >> reporter: hi there, we visited several up tos around this area today and the best way to describe this is the calm before the storm.

the ocean was really pretty quiet today compared to what it has been like the last week and lifeguards in nearby seaside heights used the lull in activities to sharpen up their skills. seaside heights lifeguards were practicing water rescues, the ocean was calm today but with tropical storm hermine coming their way, guards are expecting high winds and rough waves and powerful rip tides, the more water you have coming into the shore it has to go somewhere and the rips become reverse rivers. this was a topic on the boardwalk. >> we are going home on saturday, we can't stay for the weekend but we feel bad for the people that are. >> my inlaws are down in florida, they are telling us they are getting hit and sending pictures of dark clouds and stuff. >> i'm a farmer, my concern is

back home, our crops could be damaged and corn blown over from the wind. >> this is the last week of summer before the holiday weekend. look at this beach. but for a couple of families, this place is absolutely empty. that is bad for boardwalk businesses like bob's fishing hole. >> the holiday weekend is suppose to be the last big hoorah. we hope, all you can do it hope. that is all you can do. can't fight mother nature. >> beach erosion is a concern, the dunes in ortely beach and a weak spot if the water gets too high. i feel bad for those that are weathering out the storm. it stinks for the last weekend. >> it sure does stink. rip tides what you have to watch out for as hermine gets closer. waves are 6 to 10 feet high and don't be surprise fire department you get near the water the guards may only let

the good news is five firefighters are out of the hospital after a tractor trailer crash nood their fire truck overnight. this accident on i-95 near penn's landing caused major delays for drivers in that area. in the path of that jackknife tractor trailer, this hook and ladder truck from ladder 16. they were responding to a two vehicle accidents when their tractor trailer slammed into the truck pushing it 250 feet. five firefighters were inside and all of them were taken to hahnemann university hospital where they were treated and released. officials say if it weren't for the quick thinking of joseph rayday who was behind the wheel they may not have walked away alive. he saw the tractor trailer coming and slammed on the gas. he saw it coming and he pressed

three women were shot in delaware this morning including one victim who is pregnant and police are still looking for the shooter. the action cam was on west 27th street in wilmington this morning. the three women were outside when the shooting erupted. a 23-year-old pregnant woman was shot in the arm and two other women in their 20s were also hit. all the victims are expected to be okay. the repairs on septa's regional rail fleet are moving in the right direction. four of the cars went back into service today and the lines should be back up to full speed by mid-november. officials gave us the update from the bensalem plant, for the silver line, and septa had to sideline them in july.

improvement tonight as the trend slips to the south and you see hurricane hermine wining up here heading to the coast of florida. winds sustained at 75 miles per hour. the red box in central florida, a tornado watch and the eastern side of the storm you have the spin of hermine in the atmosphere helping to turn the thunderstorms and why you get many tornadoes on the east side of a hurricane or tropical system. as we move through time, going into monday at 4:00 on labor day, you see the spaghetti notes that keep its off of cape hatteras and then stalls just off our coastline, the lines do a zigzag or loop deloop. and it drifts and meanders to the east sunday, monday and even into tuesday of next week.

"action news" continues with meteorologist, adam joseph, alicia vitarelli, sharrie williams and brian taff. >> it is 4:30 and "action news" continues with the track of hurricane hermine. are you looking at the outer edges as it batters the beaches of florida's panhandle. it's expected to make landfall later tonight and impact our weather this weekend. we begin with adam joseph at the big board and what is the latest from accuweather. >> reporter: hermine became a hurricane and winds sustained at 75 miles per hour. the eye is starting to get into radar's range along the coast there of florida. and this will be the first hurricane to make landfall in the state of florida in 11

years. when wilma came on the west coast of florida in 1995. and this continues to wrap around hermine bringing torrential rain and high waves and strong winds as we look near the eye we have data from a beauwhy over the water there. winds south-southeast gusting to near 60 and wave heights of 20 feet they get the storm surge and inland flooding and coastal flooding for the state of florida. right now 115 miles south southwest of apalachicola that is where it will make landfall late tonight. winded 75 moving north-northeast at 14 miles per hour. as it moves inland like all tropical system its starts to weaken with winds of 50 miles per hour as it crosses over myrtle beach and then emerges over the open waters of the langic off north carolina early

all right adam this is turning into an eventful weekend. >> and not in a good way as hermine makes its way up the eastern seaboard. we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dealing with a cold front passing through and developing a couple of downpours mainly in central and southern parts of new jersey. at the atlantic city expressway in hammonton. that stretches up to 206 to the

south and west of speedwell and malaga and buena. you are about to get hit are heavy rain, as this drifts towards the shore line. but no lightning or severe weather with it. temperatures in the 70s across much of the area with the cloud cover that really dominated today. it's not very comfortable out there, we are still awaiting the northerly wind to pull in the humidity late tonight and throughout the day tomorrow. it's moving in and clouds breaking up north of the lehigh valley and the poconos will set up for a more comfortable night as the clouds clear and a beautiful night on tap area wide. and then things go downhill as we follow hurricane hermine, there is the eye of the hurricane close to landfall as we get the feeder bands and heavy rain and tornado watches in northern florida. as we track this for you, 11:00 tonight is when it should make landfall, there is the center

with the wind wrapping around it and spirals up to georgia and south carolina and north carolina tomorrow afternoon and then emerges off the coast saturday morning near virginia, north carolina, and as p pushes off the coast it encounter the water against and could strengthen more over the water here saturday late in the afternoon at 5:00, you can see rain beginning to pull in from the south and east as far north as philadelphia and then it continues to ramp up and you see how the rainfall intensifies saturday night into sunday morning with the center of hermine that could be near tropical storm strength just off our coastline at 50 to 100 miles, that brings beach erosion and coastal flooding as well and heavy rain could make its way west into philadelphia. the blocking setup is happening here and high pressure so the north, this high is a beast, and what it's going to do is prevent
