critical condition. internal affairs investigation is now underway. monday night jim is off, i'm monica and the big story on action news tonight is this police involved shooting in northeast philadelphia that authorities say started with a family argument. the scene is the 2700 block of thompson street and police investigators report that a verbal altercation escalated to a physical struggle that is when the gun was fired. >> the altercation the off duty police officer is armed with an off duty weapon during this altercation his weapon was discharged at least twice striking one of the individuals inside of the home in the torso area of the body. >> the person shot was a 19-year-old man now at area hospital in critical but stable conditions, authorities are not releasing his name, the 15th district officer's name or their exact relationship. two other people inside the house were not hurt. no one has been charged.

hermine is hundreds of miles off the shore in the atlantic ocean now but it is still creating dangerous waves and strong rip currents and delaware and new jersey beaches are told to avoid swimming in the ocean as the storm stalls off the coast. tonight a tropical storm warning is in effect from new york to massachusetts where the storm is creating 20 foot waves and high winds. police in georgia are searching for a thief and carjacker who sped off in a vehicle with two little babies in the back seat and happened at a gas station in atlanta and the children's father was in the store paying for gas because he could not get his credit card to work at the pump and that is when the thief sacrumed in the car and sped off with twin little baby girls

may get out early and you don't know as we take a at double scan live radar you will notice some showers scraping long beach island heading to atlantic city and outer bands from hermine that are pivoting from the east to the west but again it's just a few sprinkles at this time. but the one thing that hermine has done the last couple of days both morning and in the afternoon is creating spectacular sunrises and sunsets because of those high clouds on the outer bans of hermine made up of ice crystals and this was cents in to me on my facebook from elizabeth ann in potstown philadelphia and the glows this the horizon and a nice sunset on the schuylkill river and it's 72 allentown and 73 trenton, 70 wilmington 72 dover and along the shore equally as nice with that north westerly wind and not much of a sea breeze.

there is the center of hermine and over the last few hours it continues to move to the west slowly right now again bringing bands of winds of over 50 miles per hour, rain into eastern and southern parts of new england even long island and you can see some of that rain now bending as far back as the coastline but the sent tell of the storm a good 250-300 miles to our east and there are those high clouds that continue to push to the west. as we wake up tomorrow morning some of those high clouds around mixing with some sunshine pleasantly warm at 69 at 6:00 in the morning and at 8:00 your temperature of 70 degrees so it really doesn't move all that much over a couple of hours from 6-8 a.m. 88 degrees tomorrow again hermine drifting just to our east, sun and clouds but a breeze out of the north. 10-20 so we move that temperature up. even further here on wednesday up to 91 degrees the humidity comes up a little bit as well and call it slightly humid and 91 feeling like 92 or 93 still a high risk for rip currents

through much of this week since hermine gets stuck over the open waters of the atlantic and south of long island and rough surf and 82 new jersey, 88 delaware for a high no sea breeze a land breeze between about 12-25 miles per hour. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast 80 tomorrow but upper 80s with a warm breeze and turns hot and humid wednesday, 91 and then near records on thursday, 95 degrees feeling like 97 and then record breaking at the end of the week even going into the weekend 97 on saturday with some late day storms with a cold front that will break the humidity on sunday left over storm in the morning and mostly sunny monday at 84 so again a very hot weekend ahead and if you can make the plans to head to the shore to cool off great place to be in the month of september over the weekend. >> absolutely, the water is warm and crowds are gone. >> philadelphia church to the homeless as part of a labor day
