"action news" reporter walter perez is live outside the victim's apartment in sellersville. walter, you've got all the details. >> reporter: jim, we'll give you a live look right now at the scene here. you can see that squad car remains outside the crime scene still closed off with police tape. the suspect and his wife meanwhile lived in the apartment just on the other side of that wooden fence there. the question that lingers is, what possible motive could anyone have to murder a 62-year-old disabled woman? >> there's no way. >> reporter: chris of sell verse sil said that was his reaction when he found out his close friend stands accused of murder. walker allegedly killed his neighbor faith price sometime over the past five four days. but no one was aware a crime had been committed until walker showed up a a police station over in montgomery county last night. >> he did appear at the

norristown police station and talked to the officers at the police station there. >> reporter: soessentially surrendered in norristown. >> that is correct. >> reporter: after surrendering, walker reportedly told investigators he was high on methamphetamines when he murdered miss price.we spoke wis neighbor, who says his girlfriend often helped miss price who was in frail health and lived alone. >> made sure her cat was fed. that's all she had was her cat. i don't think she had any close family at all. so we were as close as family as she had. >> reporter: meanwhile, walker's wife reportedly told police that her husband had been behaving erratically around the time of the murder over the past few dhas separate incidents, she stated that she found syringes inside his vehicle, she later found him naked in that same car, and just yesterday he was involved in a car crash. but chris snyder said none of

matches up with the person he has known for years. >> we were always outside just talking, fixing each other's problems. he'd borrow tools. i'd borrow his tools. all was happy. i still don't believe it. that's not the damien i know. >> reporter: a pending autopsy will reveal the cause of death. walker is being held without bail at the bucks county correctional facility. reporting live from sellersville, walter perez, "channel 6 action news." rick? >> thank you. a 59-year-old man died today when he was hit by a car in wilmington. police say danny peek was out running when he somehow entered the road and was hit by a mercedes-benz. the crash happened at 7:30 this morning on the 2200 block of lancaster avenue. the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. the presidential campaign came to philadelphia today, and the person of donald trump. he told an audience in center city that he wants to dramatically increase the size of the mill child at a cost of

[ applause ] this was not designed to be a raucous rally. it was the subdued donald trump reading from a teleprompter in front of this invitation-only audience of old-line republicans, some of whom have been reluctant to contribute to trump's bombastic campaign. trump promised an extensive and expensive military buildup of airy branch, greater security and misand cyberspace defense, a perfect segue to jab at his archrival. >> we're not doing very well

students caught in the closing of itt tech. the school is hosting an information session right now at its campus in bristol, bucks county. itt tech's locations in thrut 38 state abruptly closed down after an announcement that the government wouldn't give students federal aid to attend the school. that meant a loss of $580 million in expected funds across the country. representatives from bucks county are on hand tonight to outline opportunities at public two-year nonprofit college. students in the trenton school district were sent home early today because of a hot and humid conditions. they canceled classes in the middle of the afternoon today. with temperatures expected to rise even more, early dismissal will continue tomorrow and friday. that's the word from trenton. it will be a hot night at citizen's bank park in philadelphia for more reasons than one. first the weather and then the

bruce springsteen concert that will heat about 40,000 springsteen lovers try to keep cool at the sports complex in south philadelphia. "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist. sarah? >> reporter: jim, i got a lot of the concert-goers here to keep me company. i'm here at the holiday inn parking lot. they've been here for hours already. and it is hot. so they sought out some trees, maybe a little bit of grass. they put up tents like this one. you better believe a slice of shade was a hot commodity on this very hot day. ♪ the streets of philadelphia >> reporter: the ipod in the parking lot is playing. the streets of philadelphia are hot once again. and here at the sports complengsz, ahead of tonight's springsteen concert, fans of boss are trying to keep cool by staying away from the red-hot blacktop. >> i'd rather sit out there with everybody else but i thought, let's go in the shade. it will be cooler. >> it was like blacktop.

grace and waffles and bacon for tabitha and little sister tamia. both of whom are ready to get this year going. >> i get to see my teachers and i'm hoping to have a passion for teaching. >> reporter: tabitha organized her supplies before heading off to hill friedman, which this year moved into the former morris e. leeds building, part of the effort to expand access to high-performing programs. millions of dollars went to repairs and rerenovation including this science lab. at the annual bell-ringing situation, the doctor said the start of this school year is the strongest since he started as superintendent. he says the budget has stabilized, and they're now embarking on a $440 million five-year investment program. >> it includes a nurse and counselor in every school, $32 million in new instructional materials, $7 million in turning around the lowest performance 62 schools. these are things we should be doing as a school district and i'm excited that after four

back in the soup, here's adam joseph with the accuweather forecast. >> yeah, the haze, the heat, the humidity, the indices over 100. it's going to feel like july in september. as we take a look at stormtracker live double scan, we have downpours to the west of harrisburg. it could clip parts of our western suburbs this evening. but the showers along the coast because of hermine have now push to the east. heat advisories will go into effect. that's our first highlight tonight. tomorrow at noon, lasting through 6:00 p.m. for the majority of our viewing area. this includes the lehigh valley, the delaware valley, the entire state of delaware, really the exception here is southern delaware and along the coastline, not under that heat advisory. and with that basically means is those areas in the orange will feel that heat index, how it's going to feel when you step out. will jump to 95 by lunchtime. 102 at 2:00 in the afternoon. 101 at 4:00. and even after the sun sets at 8:00, still feeling like the

mid-90s. we did break that 90-degree mark in the city today of 91 degrees right now sitting at 89, same for allentown, reading. 90 in wilmington. the poconos, low 80s. and right along the shore today, upper 70s to low 80s. some showers near beach haven and clouds today. so it kind of struggled to boost that temperature up. but you can see the spin with hermine. that is starting to progress to the north and east now. so the last of the clouds now pushing off the coastline, dry air here with sinking air, and then you get rising air with the front. so that's the downpours are developing. and heading towards washington and baltimore, and that's really the main trajectory of these downpours this evening. however, at 9:00, you could see some lehigh valley, berks county, lancaster county, western chester county. they'll be hit or miss. philadelphia points to the east, you are dry here all evening and all night. even by midnight, those western areas clearing out with a mixture of stars and clouds, but warm and muggy every war tonigh.

trenton to reading, 73 philadelphia, 70s in the state of delaware and the same thing for the shore line. the september heat is on the next three days. and you can blame this high pressure to the south, because this high, a real musclemaker will crank those winds out of the west-southwest, feeling at or above 100 thursday, friday, saturday, challenging records as well. could be record-tying tomorrow in philadelphia set back in 1939 of 96, record-tying, 94 set back in 1884 for the end of the week, and pretty close to the record on saturday set in 1983. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, oppressive. humidity is going to drop. but it's still going to be uncomfortable on friday. and that steam bath feeling here saturday of 96 feeling once again like 102 or so, and then a cold front comes in thursday night, early -- saturday night into early on sunday with a leftover shower early sunday breaking for sun for the eagles
