year we hit 90 degrees or higher. you factor in the humidity it will feel like triple digit heat again. another uncomfortable day. if you're outdoors, i stress to you, i know we're used to this by now, don't overdue it, don't under estimate the heat. it can be dangerous. you have to take it easy out there, when the humidity is as high as what we're forecasting today along with the high temperatures. right now it's warm, 70s across the board. 74 in warrington. 78 in center city which is close to the normal high for this time of the year. it is 6:00 a.m. glassboro, 78. agenda -- gandys beach, woodbine 78. satellite and radar, high pressure planted right there, we'll see a combination of sun and clouds today. it's going to be a scorcher.

the other ended up on the grass in the median. 6 people were injured saturday of this. none of the injuries appear this morning to be life threatening. the kelly drive lincoln drive on 76 eastbound is shut down while police work on the scene. we'll keep you posted throughout the morning. we have good news to share with you, a delaware county police officer who was shot while on duty is back on the job. it was 2 1/2 months ago that christopher dorman suffered the dramatic injury. dann cuellar spoke to the officer as he went back to work. >> reporter: christopherchriston was back on the job. as far as he was concerned not soon enough. it's remarkable when you consider he was shot 7 times on june 24. >> i'm shot, i'm shot. >> shots fired.

>> reporter: dorman was responding to a routine call police get everyday, except the man in question had just gotten out of federal prison and no intention of going back. >> i'm shot, i'm shot, i'm shot. >> reporter: dorman was shot in the face enfour times in the chest and once in the groin and once in the leg. doctors say it was fortunate he was wearing his bullet-proof vest. >> he wants to come back to work after what went through, give it up, i don't want to do that norm. after what i've been through. he wants to go back since day 1. >> it's great having him back. >> he is a good, nice excellent young man. >> reporter: but dorman has no apprehension of being back on the street. if anything he was made stronger by all the love and support he received from his colleagues. >> i don't consider them my

co-workers any more, they are my brothers and sisters. >> reporter: christopher dorman was back on the streets of his beloved folcroft where he was born and raised loving the graveyard ship. dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> welcome back. new this morning, gunfire injured two people and sent panicked fans running for cover. this happened in york pennsylvania. the players and fans scrambling after hearing the shots echo in the parking lot. you see the chaos there. witness said police saw the men arguing told them to take the dispute elsewhere, moments later the shooting started. >> we walked them down the parking lot and all of a sudden there was gunshots. >> reporter: the police say the men who were shot are conscious and breathing. several people with the suspects

at the time of the shooting are cooperating and talking to police. we are told that the stadium as metal detecters. a ma menorah stolen from a synagogue in philadelphia. we showed you this video of a man swiping the menorah. rabbi showed up for service on thursday, and the menorah was returned. other than a couple of broken light bulbs, it was in tack. second congressional district seat is vacant for the first time in years after congressman chaka fattah stepped down. vernon odem has more on the race and the candidates. >> reporter: if you look at david and go -- david

of course it felt like 100 when you factor in the humidity. today will be around 96 or 97. where does this rank here? well, number of 90-degree days, we've been following this and tracking it all summer long. on average we should see 27 degrees during the course 689 year, where we hit 90 degrees or higher in philadelphia. the accuweather prediction was 32. we've seen 44 and today will make 45 in terms of amount of 90-degree days, a lot of of these are el nino years. this is a strong el nino year. so was 1988. so was 2010, it's the same kind of parent we're seeing now. we were expecting the late season heat. we were hoping it would start to tail off, which it will in the seven-day forecast. we have one more scorcher to get through. factor in the humidity it feels

like the low 80s in the city of philadelphia. there's satellite and radar, there's the approaching cold front slicing through the heartland of the nation, temperatures are nice and comfortable on the backside of the front. here's north dakota right now down to 47 decrease, caspar wyoming it was snowing there yesterday, temperatures in the 30s, omaha, 55. wichita, 61. the air mass is going to charge east. it will moderate before it gets in here, we'll not see anything like that, we should see temperatures in the 70s. that will be our high temperature by the end of the upcoming week. so things will feel better out there, you just got to hang on for one more day. for today, front approaches it's hot and humid, it will be dry out there. temperatures over 100 degrees when you factor in the humidity. when you get into sunday, this is a pacific high working in, it will bump all the heat and humidity out to sea, it will be breezy and cooler with highs in the mid 80s and we'll lose all that humidity. for today, the 97 feeling like

everyone, 6:25 saturday morning, the southeastern ridge bringing the heat this week. part of the reason we're seeing the heat wave. this is usually a winter pattern that brings mild conditions up and down the eastern seaboard. here's philadelphia, here's bermuda, it's an area that sits off the coast. during the summer months it's known as the bermuda high. it's pushing back toward the eastern seaboard. when we get the cold front that are out in the heartland of the nation right now.

they attempt to push east and hit the high. they don't drive south, they skirt the northern tier states cooling down for a day or two, and then you heat back up, the high retreats as the low comes through. that's pretty much the pattern we've been dealing with for the last couple of months. that's why we're in heat wave number 7. it will bring the heat today. we cool things down tomorrow. 97 degrees today. feeling like 102 with the humidity. combines of sun and clouds. tomorrow morning there's the isolated chance of a shower or thunderstorm. otherwise it's clouds and sun, turning breezy and cooler high of 87 degrees. now we're going to start to warm up next week, that's followed by a strong cold front that will knock us down into the 70s by thursday and friday. >> good to hear the word cool. >> thank you so much. 6:26. alan iverson takes his place in the hall of fame.

philadelphia. officers were called to the scene a woman open the door and the suspect behind her started shooting at police. that woman was shot in the arm, but managed to run out of the home. she was taken to the hospital. police say several people were inside the home at the time including some children. >> we were concerned about the people inside. they had four children inside, i don't know their ages, and two adults that were also inside. >> the suspect's mother was in the home. she helped police negotiate with the suspect when swat members entered they found the man was shot in the leg. so far he has been identified as a man in his 20s. this morning he is in the hospital under police observation. we know the identity of the woman accused of running down a philadelphia police officer. she was identified as 33-year-old erica avila. police officers tried to stop a stolen jeep driving in the wrong

direction in port richmond. avila tried to run down the officer who prompted the officers to start shooting. it end in a police chase and crash into a police van. no officers were hurt. a break-threw agreement is in place -- break-flew agreement is in place to bring an end to the bloodshed in syria. the first step of the agreement calls for a nationwide cease-fire monday at sundown. american and russian military partnership will begin it will focus on fighting militants and delivering humanitarian aid to civilians. it's a turning points in the five yearlong conflict. house of representatives passed a controversial bill that

will allow the families of the victims to sue saudi arabia. the senate passed the measure in may, president obama is expected to veto it. the white house has warned it could lead to lawsuits from foreign countries against the u.s. pennsylvania governor, tom wolf is mourning the loss of his father this morning. his father bill, died at the age of 95 yesterday. funeral arrangements are pending. a spokesperson said the governor will not take part in the 9/11 observance that happens tomorrow at the crash site of flight 93. two universities are going to form the 5th largest college in philadelphia. thomas jefferson university and philadelphia university are merging. no name has decided. the merger is expected to be completed by next fall.

>> governor of louisiana has asked congress for $2 billion to help the bayou state to recover from catastrophic flooding. john bel edwards went to capitol hill to seek funding. 18 dogs were rescued from the louisiana flood zone. they are waiting for their forever home. they are at the camden county shelter in blackwood. they love the camera. the 1 puppies and 6 adults were brought there to ease overcrowding in the shelters down south. all have been checked out and they are ready for adoption. we hope they find their forever home. >> reporter: my wife said we could get a dog when we got a house. guess what we bought two weeks ago. >> what did you get.
