morning. 67 there. slatington, 69. tanersville, 68. warrington, 69. center city, 71 and new holland checking in at 70 degrees, gandys beach a muggy 65 on the bay water. 64 in vineland. woodbine 69. sea isle city, 73. on the boards in atlantic city, it's a muggy 74 with sunshine. satellite and radar if you're down the jersey shore waking up to clear skies travel 30, 40 miles inland, all of a sudden we have the thick overcast overspreading the region. all areas north and west are cloudy. there are a few spritzes and sprinkles in the lehigh valley with storms across central pennsylvania harrisburg and williams port. not as nice as yesterday, not a bad afternoon, not as pretty, that's for sure, humid, very warm, show thunderstorm possible under mostly cloudy skies.

high temperatures 87 degrees. all that humidity building up will lead to this heavy, drenching downpours tomorrow morning. the timing on this is absolutely lousy. its in time for the tail end of the commute. some of the models pricking heavy drenching downpours to the tune of 2 to 3 inches. that's a lot of of rain in a short period of time. it's all needed but not all at once. when i come back we'll focus on that and another warm up in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> developing on "action news" this morning, federal officials hunting for clues to an explosion in new york city. it left 29 people hurt and a second device was found not far away. the blast was called suspicious this morning but not yet an act of terrorism. it comes a week after the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. abc's ray ramodi is following 89

investigation. >> reporter: watch this surveillance video following the moments the blast occurred. take a look from a different angle, debris flying, pedestrians running for cover. >> we heard the explosion and then it went boom! >> it was so loud, it was shaking my body. i turned around i looked in the middle of the street there was a big cloud of smoke. police say chaos erupted around 8:30 saturday night. this aerial video shows the debris from the explosion. the explosion coming from a dumpster on the street. >> nothing is going to happen, okay. nothing is going to happen to you. >> reporter: this cell phone video capturing the moments a good samaritan helping a bloody victim, one of 29 injured.

>> there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection. >> reporter: but the mayor of new york did say authorities believe the explosion was an intentional act. counterterrorism officers and k-9 searching the area. as of this time the exact cause of the explosion has not been determined. >> reporter: new york city on high alert as the president is expected to arrive here later today ahead of hundreds of world leaders and dignitaries coming to new york ahead of the u.n. general assembly starting on monday. ray ramondi abc new york. 7 04:00 a.m. a man shot ten times was one of three people injured outside a nightclub in port richmond. officers found the victims in the parking lot. two women shot in the legs were taken to the hospital in stable condition. the man shot multiple times was critically injured. police believe one shooter is

responsible. they are trying to track him down. philadelphia police were shot at near south street. around midnight, two officers noticed two men smoking marijuana at 9th and south street. when they approached them they ran to darian street not far away. that's when police say one of the men shot at the officers. they were not hit the men were arrested and the gun was recovered. police did not fire a shot. meanwhile, surveillance video shows police chasing the suspect in the friday night deadly shooting rampage in west philadelphia. >> reporter: in reaction to the shooting that injured two police officers they are now traveling in pairs. innocent civilians were also gunned down. "action news" reporter, jennette reyes has more. >> shots fired at police. shots fired. >> heard the shots, we did not come out after we heard the shots. they were ringing out, it sundayed -- sounded like 22, 23 shots. >> he carried out one of the

most violent acts we've seen in philadelphia in a long time. >> reporter: it was 11:18 p.m. when kaepernick will also glen set out to hurt as many people as possible. it started out with 18 gunshots aimed at sergeant sylvia young. she was inside her police cruise cruiser at 52nd and sansom. >> she was struck quite a few times, unfortunately one or two were lodged in the her ballistic vest. she took rounds to the arm. >> reporter: glen fled eastbound on sansom street arriving officers pursued him. as he ran past maximum level rounds he shot the manager in both legs and a barmaid in the and ankled both are in stable condition. >> when i came out i saw a bunch of cons and the security guard with an os -- cops and the security guards were on the ground. >> reporter: you can see the suspect running on foot with police officers not frar behind.

philadelphia. millville, 65. trenton, 68 degrees. it's a good 16 degrees warmer in trenton than it was yesterday at the same time. 18 degrees warmer in atlantic city and wildwood and 14 degrees warmer in millville. it feels lousy out there, because the humidity levels have increased. dewpoints in the 40s and 50s, all of a sudden here's our kale right here, it's awful, ranging anywhere from 65 to 70. it's a tropical air mass. it's warm and soupy out there this morning under a mostly cloudy sky. this is a slow-moving cold front approaching from the northwest. it will take its good old sweet time getting in here, once it gets in here, it will take its good old sweet time getting out. one or two areas pick up a spotty thunderstorm later on. the better threat is after midnight tonight and tomorrow

morning. keep an eye to the sky after 2:00 p.m., north and west of philadelphia. those are the areas that have a chance of seeing the stray thunderstorm. tomorrow morning after midnight getting into the wee hours of the morning. showers and thunderstorms developing west of the city. that line pushes south and east through the tail end of the morning commute. look at the shades, the reds and the maroons this is a heavy driving rain, the downpour for parts of the area that will continue in the first part of the afternoon before exiting by 3 or 4:00 p.m. this is much-needed rain, so a lot of could fall in a short period of time. it's never a good thing. we need the wet weather, though, tomorrow morning downpours, it depends on where they set up. generally speaking most areas will pick up a half inch to an inch, isolated amounts to 2 or 3 inches is possible with any of the downpours that develop. that is first thing tomorrow morning. today, mostly cloudy, warm and

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, let's take a look at the tropics, we're looking at tropical storm carl. here's the eastern seaboard, here's the leeward islands down to the south. carl is 1200 miles in the open atlantic. the center of circulation is right here, the thunderstorms are off to the northwest which is a good sign. that means the storm is having a difficult time getting better organized. you need the thunderstorms to wrap around the center for it to strengthen. it has 40-mile an hour winds, 1300 miles east of leeward islands. pressure is starting to fall. it will start to track to the northwest it will head in

sergeant. 7:30, first outside we go to meteorologist chris sowers and the accuweather forecast. a little muggy out there this morning. >> reporter: it's a little sticky out here this morning, that's correct. it's different from yesterday whed temperatures in the 40 -- when we had temperatures in the 40s. we low clouds, not too many issues with fog, but we have a low ceiling. if you're flying out early this morning, check ahead with your carrier to make sure your flight is on time. big story this morning, 71 degrees, yesterday at this time we were in the low 50s. 71 in allentown. 66 in the poconos. missileville, -- millville, 65. trenton, 68. cape may, dewpoint of 73. if you look toward the top of the screen i put a little scale there so you can follow along. 61, 62 slightly humid.

mid 60s it's humid. 670-plus that's awful. we've got upper 60s and low 70s showing up. yesterday at this time most of the dewpoints were in the 40s and 50s. so again, the warm, soupy air is starting to move on in. eventually that will lead to showers and thunderstorms, especially after midnight tonight and tomorrow morning. here's the good news if you're not a big fan of the muggies, they will drop off as we get into the middle of the upcoming week. the problem is that at dewpoints continue to lower, we'll see the heat increase again. pick your poison here. dewpoints in the upper 60s same thing with tomorrow and tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, we won't be dealing with much in the way of humidity. satellite and radar, we'll see a lot of clouds out here today, though. one or two areas may pick up a brief quick-hitting shower or thunderstorm. that's the all from accuweather, 87 degrees is the forecasted high.

>> we need to support our first responders and prepare for the victims. we have to let the investigation unfold. >> "good morning america" will have more reaction at 8:00 a.m. philadelphia police say the man who went on a deadly shooting rampage in west philadelphia had a long criminal record. police shot and killed a 25-year-old glick atlantic city glen during a -- nicholas glen during a chase on walnut street. he left a letter that described his hatred of police and his parole officer. you're looking at a surveillance video right now. bob brooks has more. >> reporter: we are at are 52nd and walnut where the ambush started. you can see the shattered glass on the road. this is sergeant sylvia young's cruiser after it was shot at at a staggering 18 times.

a madman ambushed sill vee young in an -- sylvia young in an attack. >> a neighbor who didn't want to be on camera said she heard rapid gunfire that wouldn't stop. >> reporter: young was shot in the arm multiple times. the shooter took off on foot running down sansom eastbound with officers chasing hind him unloaded on the nightclub, he shot the security guard in the leg and took a patron outside as hostage. >> uses her as a shield. >> reporter: the suspect shot her in the leg and continue running. at 49th and sansom he shot at a woman and man in their car, he killed the woman and shot the man in the chest. >> next thing you know on this block, between 49th and 48th i heard several shots fired.

west of the city of philadelphia. as we go live on sky6 live hd you can see from our temple university camera, actually you can't see much. the cloud deck continuing to lower and lower, the ceiling it's called. some areas are dealing with patchy fog, most of us seeing mostly cloudy skies. double scan live is clear, shows shows -- showers out in western pennsylvania and harrisburg. 71 in allentown. philadelphia, 72. millville, 65. cape may, 74. wilmington and dover, both showing 70 degrees. you see the front from new england all the way southwesterly in the appalachian and ohio and tennessee valley. we get the heating of the day, the line will become more active. it will roll in here in the form of an isolated shower or

thunderstorm. after midnight tonight into tomorrow morning, we see a little bit of an influence from what was once tropical storm julia. we'll pick up tropical downpours tomorrow this morning. today is soupy with conditions that are very comparable, that's the word i was looking for, what they see in florida, very high dewpoints. same thing tomorrow, cloudy skies, downpours in the morning hours, hopefully this thing will get on its way and provide us with a glimpse of two of sun before the day is ut-oh. monday does not look like a nice day, especially early on. you want to allow yourself extra time for the morning commute when the thunderstorms are expected to develop. future tracker 6 one or two areas pick up a quick-hitting shower or thunderstorm. shouldn't amount to all that much. today is cloudy and sticky. we'll see showers develop west of the delaware river that will march east as we move into the morning hours.

7:00 a.m., heavy drenching downpours, over interior sections of south jersey by 10:00 a.m. it will be the tail end of the morning commute. it will be push east and out to sea by 2:00 p.m. the big concern is not strong gusty winds or hail or anything like that. it will be drenching downpours. some locations could pick up anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short period of time. we need the rain, but not all at once. the u.s. drought moderator has put us at a moderate to "shelter me rescue of the short term drought impact. hopefully this will put a dent in that. we are in a deficit of 4 inches.

hill native is home from her incredible journey of swimming the english channel. katie scott began the 29-mile swim from england to france. it took 13 1/2 hours, she has been swimming competitively in open waters for the past several years. after five, six hours everybody is tired of swimming, but you just keep swimming. mentalitily that's the hardest -- mentally, that's the hardest part to stay positive. >> because of the changing current, katie swam 34 pliels in the end. -- miles in the ends. the toy hall of fame has announced their winners.
