delaware valley's leading news program with meteorologist melissa magee, jeff skversky and walter perez. >> two explosions, one common link. last night's blast in new york city and one yesterday morning at the jersey shore used the same type of cell phone. tonight, police are looking for a man spotted on surveillance at the scene of the explosion and where a second device was discovered in manhattan. new developments in the search for the bomber who left more than two dozen people injured in new york city.

>> officials want to speak with the man spotted at the scene of the blast as they work to determine whether the explosions in new york and new jersey are connected. christie ileto is live in the satellite center with details. >> the device that never detonated last night was discovered blocks away from the initial blast and left authorities with a plethora of information. a cell phone and wiring attached to a pressure cooker was sent for analysis. this device, discovered blocks away from the initial blast is key to tracking down the master mind in saturday's explosion. it was likely set to detonate like this in chelsea that sent pedestrians scrambling for fear. >> oh, my god. >> wasn't a political or personal motivation. we don't know. >> reporter: there's no clear motive. surveillance places a man at

both scenes. authorities want to talk to him. no group claimed responsibility for the blast. >> at this time, there's no evidence of an international terrorism connection with this incident, but, but, it is very, very early in the investigation. >> reporter: hours earlier in seaside park, new jersey -- >> we need to shut down this run. >> reporter: they got the bomb from the trash can. the race was meant to honor marines. >> need to find out how sophisticated it was. >> reporter: law enforcement tell abc news similar types of cell phones were used in the explosion. they are exploring the possibility that the two may be linked to the same person or persons. the intact pressure cooker is key to finding where they were

purchased. was the cell phone used before it was discovered? 29 people were injured in this blast. they were all released from the hospital earlier today. obviously, this could have been far worst. police say they are searching for a motive. no arrests made. christie ileto channel 6 "action news." >> more to come on this and more. thank you. officials identified a man who went on a stabbing spree that ended with nine people injured. the attack is called a potential act of terrorism. the 22-year-old was dressed as a security guard when he stabbed nine people at the cross roads center mall. an off duty police officer shot and killed him. isis claimed responsibility for the attack, but it's not clear whether he was ablthing in their name. all nine victims are expected to make a full recovery. >> one of two officers shot on friday night would you describe released from the hospital today.

the university of pennsylvania police officer and a philadelphia police officer sergeant were injured in a shooting rampage that ended with five people shot and two killed, including the suspect. newly released surveillance video shows the chaotic scene during the shooting. jeanette reyes is live at the presbyterian hospital with details. jeanette? >> reporter: we are told the officer that was released is in good spirits and home. the other surviving victim is hospitalized. they are expected to make a full recovery. tonight, "action news" obtained several surveillance videos that give us a glimpse into the terror and horror. >> i'm at the mcdonald's at 51st street. help me, please! >> reporter: 18 shots aimed at police veteran sergeant silvia young. she was ambushed at 52nd street. she was the first of six

victims. >> a guy. he's got dreads, about 20 years old. >> you are hear the officer describe 20-year-old nicholas glenn. the next vicks at maximum security lounge. the barmaid was used as a shield, then shot in her right ankle. >> shot in the leg. >> reporter: glenn continues eastbound. "action news" obtained surveillance video showing him running. a half dozen officers followed closely behind. another residential camera captures the suspect casually walking by with a gun. >> somebody shot in the car. >> reporter: he fired nearly a dozen times into a white nissan maxima with a man and woman

inside. the woman died at the hospital. glenn would later with cornered at an alley at 48th and walnut. you can see the university of pennsylvania officer approach and shot in the leg. he falls to the ground, gets up and limps away. seconds later, dozens of officers emerge. a brief exchange of gunfire and glenn is shot and killed. police have yet to identify a motive. they never find out why glenn did this. they found a letter entitled "doomed people." reporting live in university city, jeanette reyes act news. back to you. >> on the heels of that shooting, two other police officers were targeted last night when a teenager opened fire on south street. one more addition to a violent night in the city.

bob brooks has more. >> reporter: after midnight, a 19-year-old made the worst decision of his life. he opened fire at a philadelphia police officer. police say he shot out the back window of this suv, the side of a home and luckily not the officer. paul owns that suv. >> back windshield is gone. there's not a side mirror. a couple bullet holes. too many guns in the street. >> reporter: neighbors heard the shots ring out. >> like an m-80 going off. sounded like it was in your house. >> reporter: the teen was running away after the officer tried to stop him for smoking pot on ninth and south. >> police did not discharge their weapons during this confrontation. >> reporter: the 19-year-old sus speck was caught and trapped on the dead end. in the parking lot of the pub, a

quadruple shooting. a 22-year-old man was shot an alarming ten times, listed in critical condition. next on north broad, two men shot sitting in their car, the driver whose head, the passenger in the shoulder. it was an attempted robbery. >> where i am, 15th and market where another shooting happened, 3:00 a.m. a 22-year-old found lying in the street. he was shot in the arm. he's refusing to cooperate with the investigation. center city, bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." philadelphia police are investigating a possible hate crime. a wooden cross and gas tank found leaning against first baptist church on 1th street. the cross was not set on fire. police are trying to figure out why it was left there. s tomorrow, 12 jurors will
