says it's not the first time. plus the key witness is expected to testify in the so-called bridge gate trial in new jersey. but the big story on "action news" this noon is a man in critical condition after being hit by a car in a bank parking lot. police believed it to be a hit and run and now they think it's more complicated. >> reporter: initially it was a hit and run investigation however police believe they are investigating a robbery gone bad, they believe that the driver actually visiting from portugal may have been robbed at one of the at the wells fargo. >> earlier this morning police towed away this white chevy recovered after an overnight investigation at the wells fargo

parking lot. you see the front anne damage on the vehicle on the windshield. >> the second district police responded to numerous 911 calls. it was in this northeast philadelphia parking lot before 11:00 last night that a 49-year-old man was hit by a vehicle and they believe that that man tried to robber of the striking vehicle with a knife and then the driver left the scene. >> he was laying in the parking lot of the wells fargo bank, he was suffering from severe head trauma. >> police hope that cameras can provide more information. and they returned to the initial scene and focused on the atm machines at the bank and the trash cans next to them. >> police say that the man taken to torresdale hospital was in critical condition and that witnesses saw the car drive or and jotted down the license plate number and provided it to police and that led police to the address to fine the vehicle.

reporting in the northeast, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." police are looking for the person that shot people including a woman holding an infant. the mom was hit in the crossfire yesterday afternoon, shot in the arm at 15th and wharton streets in point breeze and that the bullet barely missed the baby's head. two other people were shot including an innocent 62-year-old woman. bob brooks will update us in a live report at 12:30. the man suspected of planting bombs in new york and new jersey is held on $5.2 million bail. this morning the manhattan street where one of the bombs exploded was reopened. we have the story now. >> reporter: good afternoon, we have seen hundreds of new yorkers out walking in this chelsea neighborhood and fixing the broken windows in the

building behind me and life is get back to normal here in new york city. but the investigation into what happened and why continues. we know that the man believed to be responsible for this bombing in new york. two bombings in new jersey. and a manhunt that ended in a shootout with police. is 28-year-old amed kahn rahami, a naturalized u.s. citizen born in afghanistan. he was seen in his high school yearbook in edison, new jersey. >> i was living in this area for six years, everybody is calm and quiet and peaceful and nice. i would say. >> now rahami is being held on atemmed murder for the shootout with police, as authorities build their case against him in the bombings. >> there was pipe bombs and pressure cooker bombs. where did he get the materials and where did he build the bomb. >> and what happened in rahami's

resenyear long trip to pakistan. >> they will look at where he say he went or did he go to some rogue mosque or hook up with someone that could have taught him to be a terrorist. >> i see the subway was just as crowds as it was on saturday. and new york like always will bounce back. >> we might be shattered but not broken so we are all good, and happy we are back open and grateful to everyone in our community. >> reporter: if things are getting back to normal in new york, authorities are working to make sure that rahami was working alone. searching his social media accounts and looking into the trip to afghanistan. as of right now, rahami is still not cooperating. >> maggie thank you. the so-called bridge gate trial is continuing in new jersey. prosecutors alleged that governor chris christie knew about the lane closures as they were happening in 2013.

two of his former allies, bridget kelly, are accused of closing lanes to create gridlock and getting back at the mayor for not endorsing christie. the mayor could take the stand today. one of the government's first witnesses, christie denied knowing about the lane closures. turning now to accuweather, it turns out to be a nice afternoon after a foggy morning, the skies are clearing to a mix of clouds and sun, as we look at sky 6 hd over penn's landing. david murphy is tracking the latest conditions on the terrace. >> reporter: every now and then the sun tries to break through, if you look at satellite there say fairly thick band of cloud cover over the region, the farther north and west you go it starts to thin out. you notice the rain from an area of low pressure from the south, every now and then we get a break away shower.

but it's not doing much. we had some through cape may county and now fortescue and southern cumberland county and down to the southern tip of delaware, you are getting a shower or two. these are light sprinkles and that is probably all you'll see today. 77 degrees in philadelphia. warming up and 78 in allentown where the sky is thinning out a bit. trenton 78 and 76 in wilmington and 72 in cape may. it's also rather humid, especially down in south jersey where you see the 70 degree dew points, that is oppressive humidity if you start to work outside you'll feel that. 84 is the high, well above the average high of 77 and the record is 90 set back in 1983. and the low was 68 well above average. as we look at the wide view, tomorrow there is not much going on to the west thanks to an area

of high pressure inching its way to the east. the rain producer on the east coast is less of a factor for us. i'll have improving word in the forecast for tomorrow and the next day sara. things change a bit for the weekend but all things credited a nice seven day ahead and details in accuweather. for now a little overcast and we are waiting on the sun. from our delaware newsroom. a tractor trailer slammed into a man's house in newcastle this morning. causing damage on moore's lane, police say the truck driver lost control and hit a parked car and barrelled through the front wall of the home. this is not the first time this has happened. >> i lived there since 1983, second time a guy hit a car on the street come up this hill and come into my house. last time they tore the porch off and this time they came in. >> nobody inside of the house was hurt and the truck driver

a new report says that millions of drivers are wasting a lot of money on premium gas. aaa found that there is no sense in paying for premium if your car is design food run on regular. it does not increase horse power or fuel economy or clean the engine better than regular gas. according to the auto club, 16 million americans wasted $2 billion on premium when it wasn't necessary. gas prices continue to climb in several southern states because of the pipeline leak in alabama. in georgia regular gas increased 5 cents a gallon sense yesterday and 27 over the past week.

but there is good news, a temporary bypass is completed and the main gas line should resume tomorrow. kellogs is recalling some waffles because they may be contaminated with listeria. 10,000 cases of eggo nutri grain whole grain waffles. the federal government wants to regulate self driving cars, the obama administration says that the feds should take the lead because it's essentially controlled by software, and issued a 15 point safety assistments saying how the vehicles should perform. president obama believes the cars could prevent thousands of deadly crashes if the technology is properly regulated.

stormtracker 6 live double scan shows a sprinkle or shower down south, when you go in tighter not a lot happening here. lewes delaware just a spritz. and a couple of spotty showers down the shore. outside we have sky 6 hd at the airport looking overcast over philadelphia international airport and temperatures are warming up and it's a little bit muggy. 76 at philadelphia international airport and dew point 67 and anything over 60 means it humid and up to 70 it's very humid. and with the cloud cover it doesn't feel quite so bad. winds are out of the east at 8 miles per hour. not all that heavy of a breeze today. temperatures currently up in allentown 78 and 78 in trenton and 76 in wilmington and 75 in millville and 72 in cape may, new jersey. future tracker 6 picking up the cloud cover and rain story. clouds between now until 6:00

will thin out a bit, and later in the afternoon see a bit more sunshine building into the i-95 corridor and the farther north you go the better chance of seeing more sunshine and to the coast the harder to see the full force sun. at times there could be a pop-up shower. the lehigh valley, 86 degrees though nice and warm and humid, and more humid the farther south you go along the coast. lots of clouds and a shower or two. 78 is the warm high on the beach. philadelphia 84 degrees and clouds and sun and mentioning a spotty shower because at times over the past couple of days, some models suggested something may make it up to philadelphia. i think that is a very small chance, 84 degrees and weapon hope for more sunshine later in the day. the sox and phillies, the white sox making a rare visit. a bit humid and 78 for the first pitch and 75 for the ninth

inning. you can check out cecily or adam later in the evening before you head down making sure nothing is popping on radar. overnight 68 and pretty mild, and there could be some late spotty fog. and tomorrow during the day high pressure builds in and winds up warm with 76 degrees. and more sun in play tomorrow an today. if we get stubborn cloud cover that is closer to the coast. and tropical storm karl we continue to track this storm and if you have plans to go to bermuda you are likely to change them. it's expected to grow into a category one and eventually a category two, and it looks to be close to bermuda. the change is pulling the track away to the east of bermuda. still i expect a windy, rainy weekend. and as this tropical season
