making news in america this morning, protesters took to the streets of charlotte but a curfew made it relatively calm. still police are coming under increasing pressure to release video of the police shooting of keith scott. we're live in charlotte. out on bond, the tulsa police officer facing a manslaughter charge for the shooting death of another black man. she turned herself in overnight and has already been released. yahoo is releasing new details about the hacking that left hundreds of millions of people in danger. facebook feedback. what a new study is saying about those who overly are concerned as they may be with the number of likes they get. a good friday morning to you all. protests hit the street in

charlotte despite a city curfew. >> the mayor ordered that but while hundreds still massed in the streets there were very few incidents with police. >> meanwhile, the family of the man shot dead by police has now seen video of the shooting and is demanding the public be allowed to see it, as well. abc's maggie rulli is joining us now from charlotte. maggie. >> reporter: good morning, kendis and diane. as you mentioned there's been a curfew in place in charlotte as authorities are trying to avoid the type of violence and damage that we saw on wednesday night. but even a curfew did not stop people from going out to demonstrate. for the third night in a row protesters fill the streets of downtown charlotte. [ chanting "no justice no peace" ] alongside them police in riot gear and national guard troops to stop this from happening again. violent protests that left one dead and dozens injured, shut down a major highway and damaged several businesses. overnight both sides calling for calm. >> we want peace. we need change in these

communities. >> reporter: police have not yet released dash and body cam footage that shows the moment keith lamont scott, a 43-year-old black man was shot and killed by brently vinson, a black police officer. the police say scott had a gun and felt threatened. scott's family says he didn't own a weapon and in his hand was a book. >> my daddy didn't do nothing. >> reporter: the videos will not be made public until the investigation is over. >> the video does not give me absolute definitive visual evidence that would confirm that a person is pointing a gun. >> reporter: scott's family saw the videos for the first time thursday. in a statement their lawyer said after watching the videos, the family again has more questions than answers. when he was shot and killed mr. scott's hands were by his side and he was slowly walking backwards. the violent protests here in charlotte have led to more than 50 people being arrested and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage.

although we have seen some positives, you guys, yesterday we saw tons of volunteers out working to clean up their community trying to help their city bounce back. >> maggie, that curfew by the way by the mayor was ordered late last night with only two hours' notice. did it work? >> reporter: you know, so far it has seemed to be working. that curfew was in place from 12 midnight to 6:00 a.m. and impacts everyone that doesn't have to be out and about for something necessary meaning all protesters. although we did see a few hundred protesters continue to demonstrate even with that curfew in place but so far the police have only responded by letting them demonstrate as long as they remain peaceful and calm. so peaceful and calm protesters still working demanding to see that footage. >> yeah, and no doubt the presence of the national guard helped, as well, to keep things calm. maggie rulli there in charlotte, thank you. and as the protesters demand the release of that video the police chief has said he prefers to wait until the investigation is complete. >> yeah, earlier we spoke with the former fbi special agent in

charge, steve gomez and asked if the public pressure will force authorities to release it. >> this is all about being able to offer a full explanation and there's a complication that is clearly involved with this investigation based on the video and, you know, most -- if i was in charge of that kind of investigation, i would be saying, let's hold on for a second, they're probably doing a lot of interviews, they're probably examining the officer's past conduct, virginia there been any complaints against the officer. those are all being taken into consideration in addition to what the video depicts and what they're able to do forensically at the scene of the shooting. >> that's steve gomez former fbi agent in charge. thank you. breaking news, a police officer is free on bond in the shooting death of an unarmed black man in tulsa, oklahoma. prosecutors say officer betty shelby acted unreasonably during last friday's encounter with terence crutcher which was captured often police video and

to watch. hillary clinton is off the campaign trail doing intensive prep including mock debates with a trump stand-in. trump also cleared his schedule at least for today to do some preparing both trump and clinton are reviewing each other's past debates, trump says he's going to be himself and be respectful but sources say he hasn't delved into policy or taken part in any mock debates. investigators still haven't been able to question the man charged with placing bombs in new york and new jersey last week. ahmad khan rahami remains in the hospital unconscious. he was shot seven types in his gun battle with police. his wife, though, has now returned to the united states and officials say she's been somewhat cooperative. in a new interview rahami's father says his son underwent a personality change after visiting afghanistan and he informed the fbi but nothing was done. and police are looking for a motive in an apparent double murder suicide at an east tennessee factory. it happened thursday afternoon about 50 miles outside of knoxville. the bodies of three workers, two men and a woman were found

inside. police say all three were shot. a nearby high school was put on lockdown as a precaution. secret service looking into a possible cyberbreach after what appeared to be a scanned copy of the first lady's passport was posted online, the scam part of a batch of e-mails apparently hacked from the gmail account from a white house staffer. it includes a passport photo and information page most of which already is public information. yahoo! is reporting the biggest known hack of a single company's computer network ever. the internet giant says the account information of at least 500 million users was stolen two years ago. yahoo! blames what it calls state-sponsored hackers but doesn't name who that would be. the company believes no payment card data or bank account information was stolen. when we come back, the latest from charlotte and the shocking words of one lawmaker talking about the anger on the streets. brad pitt now facing a possible investigation into how

district includes charlotte is under fire for what he said to the bbc about the protesters. >> here is part of the conversation went robert pittinger and the bbc interviewer. >> what is their grievance in their mind? >> well, the grievance in their mind is that the animus, the anger, they hate white people because they're successful and they're not. >> the congressman has since apologized for his comments, the chairman of the congressional black caucus called the remarks devastatingly ignorant, divisive and disgusting. officers were overly aggressive, their boss says his officers did what they had to do after video of an officer pepper spraying a teen inside a police car. >> reporter: maryland police are defending this encounter with a 15-year-old girl pepper sprayed while in a squad car. police body cams capture it all.

>> come here. >> don't touch me. >> reporter: officers approach the girl who doesn't want her name released after they say she caused an accident on her bike. she refused medical attention and police say wouldn't answer their questions. she starts riding her bike again and an officer grabs her. >> i was confused what was going on. >> reporter: the teen says she was disoriented and scared after the accident briefly knocked her unconscious and just wanted to go home. soon she's in handcuffs and being put in the police car. >> put your feet in. >> reporter: then an officer does just that. gio benitez, abc news, ha haigerstown, maryland. former congressman anthony weiner is in trouble again. the u.s. attorney in new york wants weiner's cell phone records after allegations he sent sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old. a u.s. attorney in north carolina, the fbi and the new york city police department are also investigating. weiner has said the accusation may be a hoax. the fbi is gathering
