that's where we find "action news" reporter, jeff chirico this morning. we know that crews went into the home to rescue several people including several children. >> reporter: that's right, brian and firefighters are on the scene this morning their job made more difficult knowing that two of their fellow firefighters have died, as you said the police chief confirmed within the past hour that a third firefighter is in critical condition. let's show you what it looked like after 3:00 a.m. this morning. firefighters arrived to heavy smoke an flames shooting from the house on the 1900 block of lake view street. the fire quickly spread to an adjoining row home. firefighters were attempting to rescue several people including small children when the floor collapsed beneath them. firefighters had to dig through the rubble to retrieve the body of one firefighter which they carried out draped in a flag. two others were rushed to the hospital one died at the hospital, a third is in critical

condition. a man spoke to "action news" earlier this morning built moment he learned his -- about the moment he learned his house was on fire. >> all my kids running away fire, fire, the fire supposed to started in the basement. we don't know how. we lost everything. >> reporter: and that man told us his wife and children were taken to the hospital. firefighters say four -- excuse me, fire officials say four children and one adult were treated for smoke inhalation and released. two firefighters have died here while trying to rescue a family giving the ultimate sacrifice this morning in wilmington. live in wilmington, delaware, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> an awful morning there, jeff. thank you. also in wilmington, two people are seriously hurt after a fire truck collided with a minivan this is the scene at the intersection of 8 the and adams

street. firefighters were responding to another call not that deadly fire when the accident happened. two in the minivan suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries. two firefighters were hurt. let's turn to meteorologist chris sowers getting off to a cloudy start. >> reporter: cloudy, yes, refreshing, that's the key word. we have a cold front pushing through. yesterday's high 89 all the warmth the heat we've been dealing with for months on end all that is coming to an end as cooler changes arrive later this afternoon. pilots, 57. saint davids, 62. glassboro, 64. cinnaminson, 61. hammonton, 64, vineland, 66 degrees, satellite and radar there's the cold front right there, stretching from west to east across the keystone state bringing clouds this morning and a couple of hit or miss showers through reading and pottstown,

but as you can see here there's not much moisture associated with the front. for the most part it's going to slip through dry. you'll notice a huge change in the humidity levels later on and big change in the temperatures. clouds and sun, the sunshine will increase after lunchtime. breezy and cool high of 75 degrees. the numbers drop off so far tonight and tomorrow, some of the outlying areas could get into the mid 40s, if i think tomorrow morning, look at allentown and reading, 45 degrees, poconos 42, philadelphia, 51. it's cold tomorrow morning, i'll have the details in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> we're following breaking news this morning out of washington state where five people are now dead following a shooting at a shopping mall and this morning the search is on for the shooter. >> cascade all burlington units male ran into a woman's macy's with a long rifle. we're getting multiple calls. >> a gunman opened fire in the

makeup department department of macy's north of seattle. the four women and a man were killed. the gunman ran toward the interstate. they are telling people to stay inside and doors and windows blocked, the gunman was wearing black and using a hunting-type rifle. fbi has been called into assist local authorities. a young man is clinging to life after being shot in the street last night. this is video from where he was found 4500 block of north franklin street in hunting park. the victim is in critical condition at temple hospital. they are searching for clues and identity of the gunman and the motive here. center city was disrupted by calls for a suspicious device in front of the market street fire station, of course after

the balming in manhattan and new jersey, authorities are not taking any chances. dann cuellar has the details. >> reporter: the scene was the fire station at 2110 market center city. before 3:00, firefighters called after seeing something suspicious in front of the firehouse. >> pvc pipe was wrapped on both sides with duct tape. others in nearby buildings told show shelter in place. bomb squad experts moved into determine what it was. chopper 6 hd over the scene as a technician examined the suspicious looking device. shortly after that they blew it up. we were unable to clear the item so we hit it with a disrupter, it was empty. >> reporter: other calls came in of similar pipes being found along 22nd from market to south street.

an investigation by central detectives determined the items in question rolled off the back of a madison concrete construction truck that was located at 16th and vine. >> this was an honest mistake, but it caused disruption and more than a little bit of panic today. >> reporter: the response gives rise to the times we're living in. in the wake of the terror bombing attack also in philadelphia and new jersey, the terror bomb squads have been responding to increase in calls about suspicious items. >> there's been a significant increase. we're happy to see that people are being vigilant they are becoming involved in the process of keeping the city safe that's a good thing. >> reporter: now, police have not accounted for all 17 pipes scattered along roads in center city. if you see one, don't touch it, call police let them handle it and don't be overall concerned. by the way the driver was cited for failing to properly secure his cargo.

dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> police in delaware county are working to identify a new person of interest of a murder of a woman in yeadon. the investigation is focusing on the man seen in this surveillance video at 59th and catherine in southwest philadelphia. the blood trail led them to that scene. natasha gibson was found murdered thursday morning on the 600 block of bailie road. officials initially named her boyfriend as a person of interest, but he has been cleared. a camden man is behind bars facing charges in the death of gabby carter. the little girl caught in the crossfire sitting outside her house. u.s. marshals took brown bound into custody in at any -- tyhan brown into custody in tennessee. police arrested his mother and girlfriend accused of lying to

to follow breaking news out of wilmington, delaware. a devastating morning for that city's fire department. two firefighters are dead. a third is critically injured after an overnight house fire, this happened on the 1900 block of lake view road. that's where we find jeff chirico who joins us live with the very latest, jeff? >> reporter: brian a quiet and somber scene out here this morning, neighbors and firefighters stunned and saddened by the news we're waking up to this morning. right now you can see the burned out buildings behind us. this fire started at 3:00 a.m., heavy flames and smoke were pouring out of the home on the 1900 block of lake view street when firefighters arrived. they found that smoke and heavy

flames despite that went inside while trying to rescue several children and an adult, the floor beneath them collapsed. two firefighters were rescued and taken to the hospital. one body of a firefighter was dug from the rubble. he was then carried out by firefighters draped in a flag. those two firefighters at the hospital, one is in critical condition at this time, another has passed at the hospital. so, as we're learning at this hour, the fire started in the basement. a homeowner spoke towels saying he heard -- to us, saying he heard his children yelling for help. that's when they called the firefighters to the scene. the fire spread to a neighboring home. that's when firefighters tried to rescue the family. four individuals, four children and one adult were rescued. they were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and released.

the sad news this morning, is that in this attempt to rescue that family, two firefighters have died and another is fighting for his life. we are waiting for a word from the fire chief waiting for a news conference from the fire chief. we are told that may happen at some point this morning, we'll continue to follow the breaking details here in wilmington. reporting live on lake view street in wilmington, delaware, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> we'll have the latest developments on this throughout the day. in the meantime we turn our attention to the accuweather forecast as we a wait the arrival of a cool down, chris? >> reporter: it's here, good morning to you brian, good morning everyone, temperatures have dropped into the 60s across the viewing area. upper 50s in the northwest, the humidity levels continue to drop off as well. so it feels comfortably cool this morning. 59 in reading, if you have not done so, turn off the air-conditioners and open up the windows and let the cool air in.

trenton, 58. atlantic city, 65. the frontal system is in the process of pushing through. one or two showers are starting to pop up now. we're zoom into the limerick area of we have showers around skippack, some of them are steadier, but they are dissipating very, very quickly. we are not expecting too much moisture with the front. what we are expecting is a big cool down. look at the numbers in southeastern canada they were down to 31 degrees, they are now up to 39. that's the same air mass that's heading this way later this afternoon and actually for most of the upcoming weekend. it's the first true blast of fall. canadian high pressure system drops south with cooler temperatures moving into the

peaceful. terrence crutcher is being laid to rest today, officer betty she shellby is charged wih manslaughter. she shot him after he had concluded her search for a weapon that turned up nothing. he had his hands up at one point. we're two days away from the first debate for the two nominees. the poll shows hillary clinton leading trump by 7 points. both candidates are getting ready for the first debate of the 2016 campaign. it will focus on making america more secure, prosperity and the direction in which our country is heading.
