you, it is 6:00 a.m., saturday, october 1. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news," police are looking for a pair of thieves who surprised a resident in a north philadelphia home overnight. the race to the white house head to lancaster county. the polls show the two candidates are a dead heat. drivers in new jersey could see a spike in gas prices, we'll tell you why. but first, it's a dreary start to the weekend. sky6 live hd looking at the camden skyline we had a drenching in parts of the region

this week. the question when will we see the sun again? the person with the answer, meteorologist chris sowers joins us with the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. when will we see the sun, chris? >> reporter: you'll see it tomorrow. at least a little bit tomorrow, i promise you. there are showers tomorrow afternoon that will linger monday into tuesday. we're dealing with a cut-off low it's sitting there off to the west. there's nothing to steer it or move it along its way, day after day it sits there and brings a lot of dreary and damp conditions. that's the view in atlantic city. we have patchy fog in outlying areas and we're seeing the misting takes placing again. pottstown, 54. coatsville, 55. same number for saint davids. center city, 58. chester, 57. upper 50s, low 60s south jersey and delaware, as well. dover, 63, vineland, 61.

glassboro, 59. satellite and radar, pretty much nothing has changed, clouds and showers across the tri state with the upper level feature back here to the west. it's sitting and spinning and we're seeing wave after wave of moisture pull off the atlantic up over the delaware and lehigh valleys. same daniels today, more clouds and mist from time to time, some areas seeing a brief passing shower, 69 degrees coming off yesterday's high, 63. we'll clear tomorrow you'll see the return of sunshine. as i mentioned there's showers monday and tuesday, i'll run down the details in the seven-day forecast in just a bit. >> this morning, some homes in bethlehem are condemned because of a sinkhole. it forced families to evacuate. work continues at the site of the 700 block of north new street. ment ground beneath the home has

before police got there. nobody was hurt. this morning, philadelphia police commissioner said he is concerned about the number of shots fired at a suspect wednesday night. 32 christopher sowell was killed after a stabbing and assaulting five people including three children. nine officers shot 109 shots at the mann after he refused to show his hands. commissioner ross called it contagious gunfire. >> clearly 109 rounds gives significant pause and concern regardless of the circumstances, it's not an indictment with the police officers, it may be an significant training issue we need to address as well as other things that come up in the investigation. >> commissioner ross said the medical and are has not determined how many bullets hit christopher sowell. two knives were recovered, but no guns. the nine officers who discharged

impact us here. >> reporter: that's the big question, once it crosses over and gets into the southern bahama chain where does it go from here. we'll tackle that question in just a moment. we have drizzle and clouds and patchy fog as we look back from our temple university camera, very gray and dreary image this morning, you will see a lot of that unfortunately today. the radars are clear, what you're not seeing if misting taking place. the misting the particles are so small and tiny it's hard for the radar to pick it up. take a look at the rainfall totals going back since wednesday, over a foot or close to a foot in southern delaware, sussex county in delaware. 4 to 7-inch in dover. 2 to 4 in southern atlantic county and south jersey there's one to 2 in philadelphia.

camden, gloucester counties in new jersey, parts of the lehigh valley and less than an inch the farther north you go. this has been a southern storm so far, just a ton of rain we were five inches in deficit two weeks ago. now, philadelphia is only an inch deficit to the south. it's amazing what a southern change in the weather pattern can do for you. it's fall-like since the upper level low has been stuck in place, 75 tuesday, the numbers go nowhere over the last several days. wednesday, 671, thursday, 65 and yesterday, 63 feeling like the 50s. pressure is rising. the winds out of the northeast 10 miles per hour. 50s to the north, low 60s to the south. high temperatures today will top out around 67 to 69 degrees. again, it's all thanks to the upper level low still sitting

there across the ohio valley this morning. you can see the train of showers and embedded downpours lifting north and that means more clouds for us and the lehigh valley and the potential of more showers. it sits and spins and spins and spins. this is a 12 hour loop. the jet stream that pushes these guys out of the way has lifted north an forgot about the upper level low. here's matthew the magnificent approximately 155 miles per hour winds. the center is right there. it is expected to lift to the north, this trough right here will start to lift to the north over cuba west of the windward passage, once it hits the bahamas where does it travel

going to go. there's an area of high pressure it's called the atlantic ridge sitting east of the bermuda. if the high is out to sea it will allow matt that you to escape and -- matthew to escape and over the open waters of atlantic. if the high is closer to the u.s. mainland, matthew will be closer to the u.s. mainland and end up being an east coast hit. the good news if you followed us over the years, you know the european model is the most reliable forecast models out there. that's the model that suggests the hit. we'll watch the storm over the next week. >> we're hoping for a miss. the sixers lose a key young player to injury. this time it's ben simmons. jamie apody has more.

as well. that i felt -- a lot of that may be slowing down your travels. poconos in the 40s. mid 60s across south jersey and 64 in delaware and 69 in wilmington. winds speeds pick up out of the northeast sustained in beach haven. atlantic city, 13. philadelphia, close to 10. lehigh valley close to 10 and 15, trenton, 12 miles per hour. here's satellite and radar, big story today continues to be the cut off low sitting right here along the indiana ohio state line. it's bringing waves of moisture northward through the delmarva, chesapeake bay region and all the delaware and the lehigh valleys. here's the call from accuweather, gray and gloomy, scattered showers possible. high temperatures today, camping out in the upper 60s. >> thank you for the update.

>> new this morning, one woman is injured and neighboring homes after a house fire in wilmington, delaware. the action cam was at the scene, 100 block of west 30th street. the fire unofficial start to sts morning. the woman was taken to the hospital. no word on her condition. the delaware fire marshal is investigating. musicians with the philadelphia orchestra were not on stage, instead they were on the picket line outside the kimmel center. therethere was no harmony insidr those waiting for the show to start. john rawlins was there. >> reporter: inside the kimmel center the black tie fundraiser was a go, but no music. >> outside there was a brass ensemble with the picketing musicians. all this unexpected after talks stalled came a vote to walk out tonight to the deployment of fans. >> very disappointed, to fly in

boston salaries and at this point without increases over a 30 year career of musicians we would be $1.8 million behind boston members. no scheduled concerts this week for philadelphia orchestra. talks begin again next tuesday. saturday and sunday no shows because of the walkout. one person was shot and right now, pennsylvania state police are investigating the crime. "action news" was on the scene on the unit block in middletown township. police say one person was shot during a break-in. it's not clear if the victim was a homeowner or suspect. however we know the injured person is recovering from the hospital. today there will be a public memorial to honor two firefighters killed in the line of duty in wilmington, one week ago. this comes a day after they were laid to rest.

[bagpipes playing] >> yesterday, hundreds attended the funeral mass at saint elizabeth catholic church. jerry fickes was laid to rest at a private funeral earlier in the day. christopher leach and jerry fickes rushed into a home to rescue children they believed were trapped inside. >> just by the turnout here in wilmington you're seeing he was a respected and honored man and he died doing what he loved to do. >> police say the fire that killed the firefighters was deliberately set, 28-year-old beatriz fana-ruiz faces charges for the crime including murder. the public memorial will be held at the chase center on the river

morning in the delaware and lehigh valleys. the cut off low to the west is spinning to the west and it continues to bring in the clouds and the drizzle, occasionally you see a patchy shower. storm tracker 6 live double scan is crystal clear in terms of steady or heavy precipitation, we're not seeing it this morning, we're seeing the patchy mist and drizzle out there, which is okay by us, we had plenty of rain over the last few days, some areas south of philadelphia picked up close to a foot of rain since wednesday afternoon. 69 degrees is the forecasted high today a tad under normal 72. 58 degrees is the low temperature this morning. 49 in the poconos. millville, 62. cape may, 65. dover, 64. atlantic city, 62. there's always a little bit of patchy fog along the coast, 4 miles per hour in wildwood. shorepoints from wildwood to cape may all the way up to south of toms river where they are dealing with patchy fog,

everybody else for the most part is okay, every now and then vineland area, millville, a little bit of fog out there and patchy fog in western portions of atlantic county. satellite and radar, more rain approaching from the southwest. there's the upper level low right there. you can see it's kind of like a train of moisture lifting north as that low continues to sit and spin. there's a better view of it on storm tracker 6 live. we set it in motion for you. heavy showers and thunderstorms off the coast of the carolinas, there's cape hatterus. there's the upper level low, there's the main cull prilt right there. -- culprit right there. it's been left behind by the jet stream which is the steering

mechanism. what we need to happen to clear this mess, the jet stream needs to pick this up again and take it up into canada. that will happen later tomorrow into monday. you'll see an improvement in the accuweather seven-day forecast in just a moment. in the meantime, future tracker 6 suggests clouds out there, it's damp and misty, drizzle in places in one or two areas and passing shower. tomorrow morning, look at this, final clearing for at least a little bit of sunshine. that will be the flavor of sunday, combination of sun and clouds. with the added sunshine it will allow temperatures to climb into the 70s. 69 tomorrow, maybe 75 or 76 on sunday, breezy a passing shower, otherwise it's a cloudy day with drizzle. winds out of the east/northeast at 5 to 15 miles per hour. a damp and dreary day, 1:00 p.m., 68. 3:00 p.m., 69.
