open up on wednesday. me and my friends are going to blow it up and they are talking about the school districts headquarters. that is just terrible. for now reporting live in south philadelphia bob brooks channel6 "action news." brian. >> getting ridiculous. thank you very much bob. we have developing news right now. eagles starter niche gel brad lam in lot water arrested for carrying a loaded gun inside miami international airport. bradham allegedly tried to carry the gun through security yesterday but an x-ray machine picked it up. he told workers he forgot the gun was in the bag and then showed them his concealed weapons permit. he's facing a misdemeanor weapons charge. bradham was also arrested in miami in july. in that instance he's accused of attacking a hotel employee during a dispute involving an umbrella and he is still out on bond for that charge. >> in jamaica people are boarding up their homes preparing for what could be a life-threatening hurricane. the center of hurricane matthew is expected to pass to the east of jamaica tomorrow.

now officials say some folks are refusing to leave their homes. the storm could dump up to 40-inches of rain on that nation as well as in cuba and haiti. there are 50,000 people still living in these makeshift tents that have been their homes since the deadly. quake there six years ago in 2010. >> now though the track of that monster storm is far from certain right now we're keeping close tabs on any potential impact it might have here. >> meteorologist adam joseph is here with a first check of the accuweather forecast and the threat. adam. >> yeah, by the time it passes somewhere along the east coast of the midatlantic whether it's out to sea or hugging the coast it wouldn't be until the second half of the week. so we have almost six days to watch this but presently right now hurricane matthew still at a category four status winds sustained 140 miles an hour. it has been this strong a category four since saturday morning and this is a textbook looking hurricane with its eye and the thunderstorms that continue to blossom around that eye. here is jamaica.

say displayed handguns and forced customer to the floor at the el palafo restaurant last week. one of the suspects then struck a customer on the head with his gun. the thieves took cell phones and money and fled. the driver of this car was injured this morning after losing control and slamming into a house. it happened about 3 a.m. at the intersection of west fisher avenue and north mascher street in the olney section. the driver suffered head injuries and is hospitalized in stable condition. no word why the driver lost control. >> well, after three months of trying ties for septa commuters service on the regional rail line was finally back to normal today. during those three months commuters saw delays and crowding as more than 100 cars were taken out of service for he repairs. rush hour is just getting under way and "action news" reporter john rawlins live today at suburban station. john, how are things going? >> reporter: well, a little early to tell about the p.m. rush. we'll know in another hour or so how things are going. a bit of a rock he key start

with some of that sunshine returning. cape may 71, 72 in millville, 77 in wilmington, 76 in philadelphia f-lower 70's all to the north so all these temperatures are running above average for this time of year. satellite and radar we had a lot of clouds early this morning, low fog, some drizzle around but then that broke to some sunshine this afternoon. any of those concentrated showers off to the north will fall apart as they sink in as a weak boundary is pushing in from the north that will drop temperatures here during the tomorrow. tonight partly cloudy. we'll watch for some of that patchy fog to redevelop after midnight. temperatures 56 in the suburbs, 58 degrees for center city, so really not much fluctuation in that temperature no matter where you are with a northerly wind setting in five to 10 miles an hour. future tracker6, 7:30 tomorrow morning very similar to this morning. some low lying clouds, some drizzle in a few locations along with some of that patchy fog and temperatures overall in the upper 50's, low 60's in

southern areas and tomorrow afternoon, not as warm as today. up are 60's to around 70 degrees and we'll see some again mixture of sunshine and clouds, very similar to what we're seeing here this afternoon. the latest with hurricane matthew winds sustained at 140 miles an hour moving slowly to the north at 6 miles an hour, extremely low pressure, 940-millibars. this will head right between jamaica and haiti over the eastern tip of cuba as we get into the next 24 to 48 hours and then as you can see, as it curves north of the bahamas it weakens to a category two but comes very chose to the coast of the carolinas on saturday morning, winds sustained at 110 miles an hour. this is the track from the national hurricane center. it doesn't go beyond this because the cone of uncertainty the error would be extremely wide to think about a track that far out. so, with hurricane matthew locally here, what we know saturday through monday's time

front his story. >> i would have never imagined this would have happened but, you know, it d it's, you know, just one of those things. >> reporter: peter fields is a contractor who lives on edgewood avenue in trenton. saturday afternoon he arrived home to find his house broken into and someone upstairs. >> when i go in the house he had smashed the alarm system off the wall and he was in the shower taking a shower. >> reporter: fields couldn't believe the nerve of this thief. not only was he standing in his shower and rifling through his belonging but he had been helping himself to a bottle of whiskey as he searched the house for loot. >> i saw him, i watched him, i gave the police the information while i was on the phone watching him making sure he didn't escape. >> reporter: and that wasn't all. >> he had a bag packed ready to go. >> reporter: the thief had some of peter field's clothe packed up for when he left. they were set out on a bed. >> he got some clothes together, he had some alcohol and, you know, you would have

thought he lived here u police arrived quickly arresting 28-year-old antoine whiting as he was soaping up in the shower. the suspect hasn't come clean but he's being held on $50,000 bail charged with burglary theft and criminal mischief. peter fields says he's been robbed before but never by a thief who wanted to clean up before he cleaned him out. >> some of the strange of the things happening in the city now. >> reporter: strange indeed. fields things that the suspect may have been scoping out his house to see when he wasn't going to be home and that's why he felt comfortable enough to go in the shower. he was wrong. you just can't make this stuff up. live in our new jersey news room i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you nora. a man found shot late this morning in north philadelphia is hospitalized now in critical condition. chopper6 hd over the scene in the 3700 block of north park avenue at 11:00 a.m. today. police say the victim is a 41-year-old man. he was shot in the stomach and back and is being treated at

temple university hospital right now. no arrests so far. there have also been no arrests yet in the shooting of a man in salem new jersey. the victim was found at east broadway and olive streets with a gunshot wound to the upper body. he was also taken to the hospital. no word yet on his condition. >> a bank robber is on the run in philadelphia now. police are trying to track him down. it happened last thursday night at the td bank on woodhaven road in the northeast. now the suspect's face is mostly covered here but police hoping that someone might somehow recognize him or know something about this crime. officials say the man gave a bank teller a note demanding money and got away with an unknown amount of it. if you have any information please call the number on your screen 215-418-4000. >> now to the latest on hurricane matthew. it continues to churn across the caribbean ocean with winds of 140 miles an hour. >> yeah that massive storm bearing down route now on haiti and jamaica. take a look at this. the photo of hurricane matthew from a nasa satellite. it will dump torrential rain on the islands in its path and

that could trigger life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides. >> let's get to meteorologist adam joseph at the "action news" big board with the latest on matthew and the return of the sun in our area at least. adam. >> yeah, parts of haiti as well as jamaica and cuba could seen between 20 and 40-inches of rain. roof it is mountainous and that runs down and will flood the valley. that is one concern. you can take a look at how classic looking this hurricane is as it spirals. still has that well defined eye. became a category five on friday night and then has maintained a category four hurricane status since saturday morning as it slowly is lifting off to the north. we have hurricane watches for the southern bahamas. we have hurricane warnings for southeastern cuba jamaica as well as haiti and parts of the turks and caicos as the storm will barrel through again not only with flooding rains and dangerous storm surge but if you take a look at sustained wind as it passes through here not only especially western haiti but southern cuba.

five to 10 miles an hour. as we look at the surface map here, 70 degrees tomorrow. again, some of that fog or low clouds in the morning breaking to some sun in the afternoon. seasonable tomorrow with high pressure over new england and a trough in the form of a cold front coming in from the west. these two will be a player in the track of matthew. this high's really not going to budge on wednesday so for us locally wednesday morning clouds giving way to afternoon sun at 72. but the strong high it depends on the exact location of that high whether it hugs matthew along the coast or if it weakens enough it could let matthew go out to sea. in addition we have this trough coming in from the west that could link matthew inward to the coastline basically injecting matthew into the trough so these two will have to continue to follow through the rest of the week to see where matthew tracks between those two systems. right now still a category four, winds 140 miles an hour moved to the north at seven. this is the latest track from

the national hurricane center as of 5:00 p.m. and this track has been shifted to the west which is not good news as it will cut straight through the bahamas wednesday night into thursday morning and be just off the coast of florida as we get into the end of the week thursday and friday as a category three hurricane winds sustained 115 and now with the latest track instead of having it out to sea off of the carolinas, now could make landfall in north carolina saturday afternoon as a category two winds 105 miles an hour so again, this just indicating that the late of the models wander to say this high is going to be too strong holding that storm along the coast and this is the spaghetti plot saturday morning, again good consensus that it's somewhere in north carolina and then it will be just off of our coast here sunday afternoon, so too close for comfort and something we will track here for the seconds half of the weekend for some impacts. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, morning fog and some sun tomorrow afternoon, 70. partly sunny on wednesday, 72.
