campus. it has left people living in the dorms without running water. walter perez is live in philadelphia where repair work is underway there behind you. >> reporter: that is right sharrie, we'll give you a live look things have dried out for sure. as can you see crews are working to repair the 2 inch main, this is 15th and norris at the edge of the temple university campus. it's area around norris street at 13th and broad but the water department is optimistic, service will be restored by 8:00 tonight. it was right around 9:30 this morning when water started gushing along the intersection of 13th and norris streets. as a result several homes and businesses in the area remain without water services including a pair of temple university residence halls. there are two that are shut on norris street belonging to

temple and as on as we get water restored we'll get them back water service. one of the affected dorms is the peabody building primarily a residence hall for freshman. the students say to put it mildly. >> have you to go to the blue cross center at the student sent toward shower. >> they gave us the first floor bathroom. that is a nuisance to walk all of that way. >> i may end up going to j and h and getting one of my friends to take me in there to shower. it's a pain. >> temple freshman austin drill says he knew he should have cleaned his dirty clothes tonight. >> i was going to do my laundry and i'm out of socks. >> back out live, i'm not sure if you can see how the pressure of water released from the main lifted the road there. water service is expected to

normal and we are tracking some 70s in the near future. in fact we are on the verge of that 70 in the mid-atlantic region. 76 in charleston, west virginia and 78 in toledo. a true fall feeling in the northern plains and the midsection of the country with highs overall in the 40s there today. with that front there are a couple of showers kind of in between the warmth to the east and the cold to the north and west. but a lot of these heavy showers and even downpours near chicago and the great lakes begin to fall apart as it moves to the east. we are only tracking an isolated shower as the front pushes through tomorrow and it brings another cool shot behind it for the end of the week we are tracking a nice fall weekend as the temperatures start to jump back up. we'll have those ups and downs with the afternoon highs coming up in the full accuweather forecast.

>> looking forward to it thank you. in north carolina today, all eyes are on the tar river, with the effects of hurricane matthew still being felt, that river is expected to crest today. north carolina's governor, pat mccrory is advising residents to evacuate and stay away until the river crests. the death toll continues to rise and hurricane matthew claimed at least 34 lives in the u.s. half of them in north carolina. residents there say that while the sun is shining today this storm has been devastating and continues to wreak havoc and for those that have survived they are simply happy to be alive. >> people with little or nothing, the flood took it all. but we are here we are safe. got a roof over our head and hot meals and who knows, we are just thankful for that. >> looking on the bright side meanwhile u.s. marines are

a trio of suspects is wanted for two robberies in philadelphia. last week two men went inside the little caesars on the 5900 block of lancaster avenue pointing a gun at the female employee and she quickly opened the register and grabbed all the cash and meanwhile the third man

acting as a lookout robbed the mom parked out front with her children. if you know anything about this crime are you asked to call police. sometimes there is nothing better than a good neighbor. and hey there is an app and a website for that now. next door is a private social network for your specific neighborhood. today the camden county police department announced they are working with the app to make their neighborhoods in new jersey safer and stronger. the app helps people in any specific area, connect virtually from hearing about a rash of break-ins to finding a babysitter. police in camden says that virtual neighborhood watch is key to communications and working together to keep the streets safe and heard from one woman a resident from the park side neighborhood, she explained how her neighbors worked together to make a robbery arrest.

afternoon and sprinkles are passing by north of philadelphia. the front moves on and returning sun north and east before the sunsets late in the afternoon and by 8:30 everyone is clearing out. hurricane nicole, in the atlantic, you can see it's a beast of a storm, winds sustained is 100 miles per hour. and look at the eye wall in the deep red and the thunderstorms around the eye, with 145 miles per hour winds out from the eye and it's hard to get a hurricane to directly hit the island of bermuda. think of how big the ocean is and how tiny of a speck bermuda is but it's going over tomorrow, as a hurricane 2. 4 to 8 inches of rain and damaging winds as well. looking at the four day at 4:00 forecast, back at home quiet and limited sun and isolated shower and 71 tomorrow and behind the

denied cosby appeal today. is he set for trial in june accused of drugging and molesting constand in 2004. police are looking for men that robbed a man in fairmount at 20th and brandywine street. they went up to a 27-year-old man on the street and demanded he hand over his belongings. the robbers got his cell phone and head phones, anyone with information is asked to call police. a crash between two tractor trailers left hundreds of chickens dead and shut down a major roadway in delaware. it happened before 4:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of route 1 in smyrna. one truck was carrying live chickens many that were killed and left scattered on the highway. the road is reopen at 10:00 this morning and police have not yet said what caused the big rigs to
