dieded -- decide decide they are willing to strike if the leaders call for it at the end of the month. a candidate in the pennsylvania senate race picks up the endorsement in the area. eagles take on the rival washington redskins hoping to get into the win column. let's go outside to chris sowers, a great day in the weather score. >> reporter: yes, it's a great day, we've lost the sun, it's making things gray at this midday hour. 6 degrees in millville. 64 in philadelphia. 63 in in allentown. cape may, 6. atlantic city, 68. dover, 70 degrees. satellite and radar showing a little bit of cloud cover working its way across the keystone state this afternoon. accuweather will allow for that. we'll go combination of sun and clouds this afternoon with temperatures up in the low 70s. it's a warmer day, officially

we'll go 73 degrees for philadelphia. maybe a couple of degrees warmer south and east, especially in millville, dover and cape may. this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak it gets really warm. starting tomorrow we head back into the 80s with two potential record-high days on the way. both of them could feature 85, 86 degrees. today is the start of it. it gets nice later on this week. when i come back i'll let you know how long the weather last in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. i'll let you know how long it will be before we get weather, guys? >> members of the transit worker union local 234 voted to authorize a strike should contract talks breakdown. >> that could impact thousands of riders at the end of the month. >> "action news" reporter, bob

brooks is live in philadelphia, bob this is big news. this is going to affect anyone who uses septa. we're talking about thousands of people. the sheet metal union workers hall where where the union came, they came to get updates on negotiations with septa, they didn't like what they heard. they will strike if need be at the end of the month. the current contract for the transit workers union 234 is said to expire at the end of the month october 31. if the strike happens it will start november 1. some of the demands they want, they want an increase in the cap which pensions are calculated 50,000 to $70,000. wage increases, better healthcare and dental care. if the strike hams it won't happen -- happens, it won't

happen until december 1. if it continues during the november 8 election they will continue to strike despite that happening. we did speak with union members who came out after the vote. they are not happy. >> they want to take away our benefits. if they don't touch management, why do they want to touch ours. we're on the front lines. >> they want to take us out of where we are now, put us in a lessor claim. >> reporter: septa did send us a statement this morning it reads in part both parties exchanged proposal on july 13 and continue to meet in negotiations since that time, we remain hopeful as we work to bargain an agreement in the best interest of the employees, riders and the public. back out here live you have heard the union members are not happy about the current negotiations. they will strike november 1, if

need be. i want to remind people this is not a strike that would start tomorrow. it's the end of the month when the contract expires, october 31, the strike going into effect november 1. reporting live from philadelphia, bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." nydia. >> thank you. a private security guard working homecoming weekend at lincoln university was hit by a stray bullet overnight. pennsylvania state police was on hand after the shooting at 3:30 a.m. police say a bullet hit a van carrying private security officers. one officer was hit in the arm. she was taken to christiana hospital in delaware where she underwent surgery. lincoln officials says students are safe and unharmed. no arrests. an argument between two men ended with a stabbing it all happened in north philadelphia. police were called to the 2600 block of north fair hills street to report a fight there at 11:30. the 26-year-old victim was rushed to temple university hospital in serious condition

with several stab injuries. police have not made any arrests. happening right now, new jersey police are trying to determine the cause of a deadly one car crash in burlington county. medics were unable to save the person involved in the accident. the car flipped on its roof 541 west hampton township at 4:30 a.m. the driver's identity has not been released. now to the 2015 rails for the white house. the presidential candidates are taking a day off from the campaign trail presumable -- presumably prepare for their final debate on wednesday. abc news washington post survey shows hillary clinton leading donald trump by four points by likely voters nationwide. that's within the margin of error and factoring in third party candidates. if you live in new jersey, the deadline to vote is tuesday.

you can register online at the board of election office. you can register at the dmv if you are renewing your license or applying for one. thein pennsylvania and delaware has passed. katie mcginty picked up the endorsement of the philadelphia inquirer running against republican senator pat toomey, it's one of the biggest in the country. this morning the inquirer's editorial board released a statement saying they endorsed her because she has a grasp on the human consequences of government policy and seeks to improve quality of life for all. over 200 girls were kidnapped in nigeria, leaders are hoping more of the school girls will be released after boko haram freed 21 of them. they were among 276 girls kidnapped two years ago. 57 girls escaped immediately after the kidnapping. militants released 21 girls on thursday, the international committee of the red cross and the swiss government brokered the deal. >> the u.n. general is in haiti to see firsthand the damage created by hurricanes matthew. he visited one of the many schools serving as a shelter. the storm killed 500 people in haiti. >> an update on the forecast, gloomy outside, right?

satellite and radar all of these clouds that are starting to bubble up across central portions of pennsylvania are in advance of the approaching cold front right here which will pass on by to the north overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. it could produce showers across the lehigh valley and the poconos first thing tomorrow morning, outside of that this front will be very harmless and pretty much pass through dry. the wider view showing a complex down to the south. we'll have to watch that later in the week, that could come running up the coastline and bring wet weather to our neck of the woods thursday and friday. after that you can see there's not much going on, a couple of storms moving onshore across the west coast and washington and oregon. generally speaking the lower 48 is quiet and very, very warm. 83 degrees in dallas. they are shooting for a high of 90. memphis, 80. saint louis, 80. both locations will top out around 86. it's this warm air that's charging east. once it arrives it will sit over

"action news," thousands of septa workers have authorized a strike at the end of the month in the event contract talks fall through. we have the developing story. a south jersey police officer is recovering reportedly being attacked by a woman responding after responding to call. protest he recalls showed up he -- protesters showed up at a rapper performing in philadelphia. why they are protesting his song. >> let's go outside to chris sowers. 61 in saint david. warrington, 68. look at the 70s showing up to the south. gandys beach, 73. smyrna, 70. millville, vineland, 70 and sea isle city, 67 degrees. things will get warmer as we progress along through the workweek. tuesday and wednesday we could have record highs around here, both days well into the 80s. satellite and radar a little bit of cloudy cover west of philadelphia this afternoon otherwise mainly clear conditions south and east, here's the pattern, the overall weather pattern that's going to set up this week this is called the southeastern ridge it's a huge area of high pressure off the southeastern coast of the united states. it will sit there. the winds blow clockwise around the high pressure. that's a south/southwesterly wind. it will warm things up so much look what happens over the next three days. come monday we're around 80 degrees, tuesday we're forecasting a high of 86. the record is only 80. that was set back in i believe,

union hall to get an update on the negotiations. septa said they did not like it and they will strike when the contract ends. septa officials are going to make consults to the healthcare plans and other plans they have. some of additional demands they want, they want an increase in the cap in which pensions are calculated from 350,000 $50,000 to $70,000. it will not happen until november 1. if it goes on on november 8. they will not go back if the strike is going on. >> it's the way they are treating us. >> it should not come to this, it's the way it is around the county. >> we've been negotiating for a couple of years and septa citizen not taking us seriously.

>> reporter: septa sent out a statement in part reading both parties exchanged proposals on july 1 and continued to meet in negotiations since that time. we hope to bargain in in reachig an agreement for in the best interest of the public and our employees. the contract does not expire until october 31. the strike would happen around midnight, november 1. bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> pennsylvania state police are investigating an incident on the campus of lincoln university that ended with a private security guard in the hospital with a bullet wound. it happened at 3:30 a.m. a bullet hit a van carrying private security officers on duty handling extra events surrounding homecoming weekend. one officer was hit in the arm. she was taken to christiana hospital in delaware where she underwent surgery. students are safe and unharmed.

so far no arrests. >> philadelphia investigators are on the scene of a suspicious fire in the city's frankford section. this was the scene you're about to see along the 1300 block of dyer street. we are told the home is vacant. firefighters responded a little after 3:15 a.m. they found three separate fires inside the home. crews put them out quickly and there were no injuries reported. earlier, firefighters had to put out multiple fires at another vacant home three blocks away. a woman faces arson charges for burning three row homes in west philadelphia. the woman is charged with sparking the blaze on girard avenue yesterday afternoon. police believe she sparked the fire because her boyfriend owed her money and would not pay her back. the row home fire spread to the two other homes on either side

of the buildings. a neighbor took video on her cell phone. >> it was very, very scary. >> the suspect who was not identified suffered burns to her ankle she is being treated at penn presbyterian hospital. philadelphia police say they caught a vandal red handed slashing tires in center city. 16 people had tires slashed between broad and jfk yesterday morning. five were owned by the city of philadelphia. officers were on routine patrol 1400 block of arch street. they saw a man near a ford escape with a knife in his hand. the man walked to the front of the suv and stabbed the front tire, they arrested him. >> a south jersey police officer is on the end, a woman is behind bars accused of attacking a police officer with a cleaning solution. it happened yesterday afternoon. officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance and tried

speaking with a woman through a closed door, that's when she abruptly opened the door and threw pinesol into the officer's face. she is under arrest and formally charged. a rapper's song has produced outrage in the asian community the song is said to tarring them. the protester voiced their anger over the song yz they say it encourages fans to break into homes in chyna niece neighborhood. in the controversial video one of the actors breaks into a home with a picture that features an asian family. >> we want to get our message across. >> demonstrators say there's an increase gains those in the china nest-american community. >> donald trump is spending

trying to gain the upper hand of a wildfire that's getting a boost from winds there. the valley fire is five% contained and threatening five hundred more buildings. a state of emergency has been declared to free up resources to cover that fire. it confers five miles of handle. a state of emergency has been declared in the coastal town. mandaneza, oregon. trees were uprooted, a tornado in that region is very rare. two touched down in that area on friday. >> time to turn to accuweather in our area we've got beautiful weather today and the week ahead, if you like it warm. >> reporter: if you like it warm, this is your week. it's that seesaw i'm talking

about it's miserable on one side of the country it's nice on the other. we're benefiting from the seesaw this weekend, all the miserable weather, the jet stream is dipping to the west, that's why it's stormy out there. sky6 live hd you can see what's going on, you take a look underneath the ben franklin bridge, i have a couple of sail boats a nice breeze kicking up, the winds are light out of the south/southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour. even though we have cloud cover west of philadelphia. radars are clear they will stay that way that were. 73 degrees, the high temperature, the normal is 67. starting on the auto 50. normal low is 48. chester, of 4. detective it -- 64. levittown, a degree warmer. gandys beach, 73. hammonton, blue berry country checking in at 68. satellite and radar as i mentioned all morning, this front will come through harmless

enough. it will produce a couple of clouds that's about it. all the precipitation stays up here, vermont new hampshire, new england. maybe it gets as far south in the lehigh valley tomorrow morning. maybe a spotty shower, outside of that, the front comes through dry. the weather pattern we'll see this week is the southeastern ridge. the winds blow clockwise around the area of high pressure. these southern breezes. these are really, really warm. it tams into the heat and drives it east and everybody east of the mississippi river will benefit with warmer temperatures. you can see the pattern taking shape. this is the water vapor loop you can see how everything is moving west to east. actually this looks like it's pushing north like that. there's no cold air, this is
