"action news" reporter vernon odom is live at west chester university tonight one of the schools affected by the strike and he'll have much more coming up on "action news" at 6:00. >> meantime new at 5:00 vandals target a south jersey nonprofit that helps children with special needs. the organization and a nearby business have both been hit. now police are trying to figure out if the cases are connected. right now officials are looking for a person of interest or maybe people who are responsible for that series of tire slashings. >> the victim a group that helps kids with disabilities enjoy sports. "action news" reporter gray hall is live in harrison township new jersey with the full story tonight. gray. >> reporter: well, rick and monica, the executive director of that program also owns a pizza shop behind me. he says he's puzzled as to why this would happen and he's hoping police will be able to make an arrest. >> you can tell they're ice picks. you have one, two, three, three, four, five in this tire. >> reporter: troy memis owner of holy tomato two in

mullica hill new jersey says he's disappointed some some unwould puncture tires on trailers sitting in the back of his restaurant. >> i don't know how you describe that. that's just -- that's anger. that's hate. >> reporter: he says it's not just about the trailers but what they are used for. >> we don't leave any kids out. and that's the name of the game. >> reporter: he's not just the owner of a pizza shop but also the executive director of top sports. it's an outreach program for children with special needs. the trailers are loaded with equipment that allows athletes with disabilities to enjoy sports. >> it's disheartening. our program is a nonprofit and thoroughly funded through donations and this is basically with mounting and balancing this is $800 worth of tiressism he showed us this surveillance video what he believes captures the suspect responsible. he says a car drove into his parking lot tuesday night stayed there for less than four minutes and left. just last week he says he captured a similar car in the parking lot after sever tires

were slashed on his employees cars. >> this one is scary. >> reporter: harrison township police are investigating reason not sure if the cases are connected. he's convinced it's the same person. >> if they were targeting me i would expect windows broken on my restaurant. that didn't happen. i would expect my car to be damaged. that didn't happen. i would expected my house to have vandalism. that didn't happen. they targeted the trailers of our special needs program. >> reporter: he says if he has to he'll keep he replacing the tires. the bigger picture is about those kids in his program. >> we painted our fence over on the side of our restaurant and it says worry is a misuse of imagination. so i will not worry about that. >> reporter: and back out live police are still investigating this case. there is some good news to share with you tonight. when the community heard about this story on facebook, they stepped up and donated some tires and so this weekend those kids will be able to have their sporting event. live from mullica hill new jersey gray hall channel6 "action news."

rick. >> gray, thank you. turning now to accuweather and the big change in store for our region as we look live outside right now at the commodore barry bridge. we had a taste of summer all week long but tonight rain could move in and by tomorrow we will be 15 to 20 degrees cooler outside. meteorologist cecily tynan is at the big board with the forecast. the winds of change, cecily. >> rick, it will feel more than 30 degrees cooler tomorrow when you factor in the temperatures and the wind. right now it still feels like summer holding at 79 degrees in philadelphia. we've been there for the past four hours but if you look to the west, temperatures in the 40's and 50's. that air mass is moving our way. it's a cold front and the leading edge of that cold front right now is moving through lancaster county approaching chester county. no lightning with this but were he do have some heavy downpours right now and it's moving very slowly. so, it's moved through lancaster, reading right now you're on the edge of getting some of those showers and as it pushes through tonight, we

allegheny avenue. officials say it was burned beyond recognition. police are trying to determine the cause of death but it may take some time. folks in that area told "action news" the neighborhood has steadily been getting worse and they're not surprised by the discovery. >> another former aide for new jersey governor chris christie has taken the stand in the bridgegate trial and today she testified that christie did know about those lane closures on the george washington bridge a month before they happened. anthony johnson from our sister station wabc was in court today and he has more on today's developments from newark, new jersey. >> reporter: bridget kelly testified that she he told governor chris christie about the planned traffic study at the george washington bridge on august 12th, 2013. kelly says she was told by the government's key witness david wildstein to make sure she informed the governor so she did exactly that and relayed the message to the governor that as a result of the study there would be traffic problems in fort he lee.

bridget kelly sales the governor was "okay with the study and asked about fort lee mayor mark sokolich." soon after she informed david wildstein the governor was informed about the study by sending infamous e-mail time for traffic problems in for the lee. kelly says she was echoing the same words that wildstein told her that traffic would result in fort lee from the study. kelly said showing emotion in court i'm sure if i hadn't used those words, we wouldn't know each other referring to the fact that she is on trial in there bridgegate matter. she also says the governor spoke to her about the study when he he returned from the 9/11 ceremony in 2013. the governor stopped by her office and told kelly any complaints about traffic would be handled by david wildstein and the port authority. bridget kelly got very emotional when talking about a meeting with officials following the fire in seaside heights.

of chemotherapy and radiation. she became an ambassador for the children's hospital parkway run raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for research. while treatment worked at first, her cancer came back. and sadly, there were no more options. niah died when she was 11. to fulfill a promise aim he mee started the no more kids with cancer foundation. recently it gave $155,000 grant to the university of california san francisco medical center. for a phase one clinical trial testing a modified version of the measles virus to treat the cancer. i spoke with the researcher via skype who says the money will help expand the trials to more hospitals. >> obviously significantly speeds up enrollment into the trial and then we will have the results much sooner. >> the theory is the modified measles virus is injected it attaches to and kills cancer cells without hurting normal

years later in wisconsin when dna from a rape he committed there matched evidence here. >> from our delaware news room tonight this is 36-year-old eric mcneilly extradited from maryland yesterday after wilmington homicide detectives connected him to an unsolved murder that happened more than six years ago. they say he shot and killed able flores along the 600 block of south franklin street in may of 2010. he's charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder. the motive for the incident is still unclear. a south jersey school bus driver has been arrested on child porn charges. 55-year-old robert lynch is a bus driver for the moorestown school district and moorestown friends school. police say they found child pornography on digital media devices inside his home on austin avenue in the glendora section of gloucester township. lynch is charged with third degree possession of child pornography. he was released on his own recognizance. >> suspect wanted for stealing from the toys r us chain may

least light showers dampening the ground near coatesville all this lifting from the southwest to the north and east and eventually will make its way in broken fashion to the city of philadelphia by about 8 o'clock or 9 o'clock tonight but what a week it has been. a rare fall stretch indeed with temperatures topping at 80 or higher all week long. monday 82. we spiked to the record on wednesday of 86. a record on thursday 81. and today even hit 80 degrees. normal high is 65 degrees. if you don't have to be -- you don't have to be a meteorologist to know that we're not going to see a stretch like this for at least six more months. right now it is still in the upper 70's for the lehigh valley where we topped off in allentown at 81 degrees today. 76 right now in millville. 74 in wilmington. but you can see that colder air already moving in. lancaster down to 60 degrees and reading has dropped to 67 where just to the north and east again allentown still flirting with 80 degrees.

that little wedge of sunshine today that we really enjoyed now beginning to fade with clouds working in from the west. the low pressure near buffalo and binghamton will continue to ride into northern new england and we'll see some of those light showers continue to pivot through at times overnight tonight. so it's not a washout but periods of rain about a quarter to a half an inch on average. and turning windy especially after midnight. 48 to 50 as we wake up tomorrow morning and we only stay in the mid-50's for highs tomorrow. showers at times during the morning. very late sun returning from the west to the northeast late in the afternoon but winds tomorrow between 40 and 45 miles an hour and the sun is back on sunday as that low lifts into new england. it's warmer at 64. the deep blue sky. but still very windy, about 30 to 35 miles an hour wind gusts for the seconds half of the weekends. as this woe winds up northern new england we're talking about those 70's and 80's we enjoyed. take a look at northern parts
