you, 6:00 a.m., saturday october 22. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." big changes we're tracking cold and rain to start off your weekend. plus, other parts of the keystone state are cleaning up after storm brought devastation to the area. homecoming is going on as planned in west chester university after a deal is reached to end the faculty strike. first, chris sowers is here to join us with the accuweather. it's wet and cold. not good news on a saturday. >> reporter: a lot of people were tired of the 80s, gray, they wanted to go on a hay ride and wear shorts and ts and sweat. that's the way it's been all week. we have cooler changes arriving and showers pushing through and periods of heavier rain as we look live on sky6 live hd at the

ben franklin bridge. again, the cooler numbers are starting to filter into the delaware and the lehigh valleys. storm tracker 6 live this is western salem county, logan township and through salem and the smaller communities on the delaware river to the delaware bay. we are seeing heavier showers, this line is drifting east, it will be in woodstown in the 35 minutes. that will march through the heart of south jersey over the next couple of hours. behind it we're clearing out a little bit. the roads are damp and we're seeing patchy mist and drizzle. the steadier rains are lifting to the for north and pulling aw. 37 degrees in pottstown, coming 06 yesterday's 80. quakertown, 47. saint davids 48 warrington, 48. glassboro, 50. cinnaminson, 49. down in woodbine, 52 degrees. the 24-hour temperature change

is 15 to 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. compared to yesterday's high, some locations are 30 degrees cooler. the front is pulling in, blustery, 11:00 a.m., 48 degrees, 1:00 p.m., 49. 5:00 p.m., 55 skies brighten up and the drier process begins. -- the drying process begins. we're talking about cooler numbers in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> storms caused problems in participates of western ascertain central pennsylvania. a 65-year-old man was on a ladder when a tree fell and pinned him to the ground. he later died at the hospital. hills grove, sullivan county, a home was destroyed after a storm pushed water over route 87. a bridge was damaged in the flooding. in williamsport there are concerns that thousands of gallons of spilled gasoline may get into the drinking water

supply. the gas spill happened when an 8-inch pipeline ruptured during yesterday's storm. they hope the flood waters recede enough today to fix the break. with all the changes underway we're putting accuweather at your finger tips check the forecast online at 6abc.com or the 6abc news app. new this morning, a suspect who led police on on a chase was shot by officers overnight. this happened on the 500 block of north 56th street in west philadelphia just before 4:00 a.m. police say they were chasing the individual on foot. not clear why police fired the shots. the suspect was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital in stable condition. officers took a person into custody, they are questioning two others, we are told no officers were injured. philadelphia police right now investigating a deadly shooting that involved thetoura.

a person got into a fight with part of the entourage inside the club. they are looking for the entourage who left the scene in a black bmw. there's good news for 100,000 students, the strike is over for faculty members at 14-state universities. they have packed up their protests signs and back in the classroom. the system reached a contract agreement. jennette reyes has more on the strike. >> i didn't know how long the strike was going to be, i thought it was going to be another week or so, hearing the

agreement achieved i'm excited to get back to class. >> reporter: on west chester university campus a collective sigh of relief. the deal was reached on day three of the state system walkout in 34 years. the strike disrupted classes for students at 14 state universities bringing the semester to a halt. hanging in the balance. grades -- tom wolf helped them come to an agreement. among other things, the agreement would provide faculty with pay increases and allow the state system recognize important healthcares cost savings.

spoke to a standing room only crowd last night at the newtown athletic club in montgomery county. he drove home the plans for illegal immigration and terrorism. however, trump supporters say he scored on issues like trade jobs and taxes. >> for people like ourselves he is not going to raise taxes. that's a big one. >> trump campaign has been pushing hard in an effort to win the philadelphia suburbs. hillary clinton is currently leading the gop candidate by 4 points in the keystone state. >> pennsylvania senator, pat toomey is getting support for his fight to remain in office. he was in northeast philadelphia where he picked up the endorsement of the fraternal order of police. he campaigned in bucks county. katie mcginty was in vice president joe biden in

sites like twitter and facebook and spotify were affected. it affected many businesses in the u.s. at&t is in talks to buy time warner. according to the "wall street journal" that deal could happen as early this weekend. such a deal would send waves through the media sector. it would give at&t control of cnn and hbo and cartoon network. there's been no comment from either company about this. it is not fun when your luggage does not arrive at your destination. it could mean a refunds on the checked bags. the move is one in a series of steps the obama administration is taking to increase protection

for passengers. airlines are required to refunds fees for lost bags. but this proposal would include bags that show up late. 6:21. dorothy's iconic ruby red slippers are losing their luster, but they may shine again. the museum of american history asked for $300,000 to preserve the shoes from the beloved musical "wizard of oz." $239,000 have been raised. the money will be used to restore the shoes and protect them. no place like home.

before 3:00 a.m. on the northbound lanes of route 73 waverly lane in maple shade, new jersey. the person died at the scene. the driver stopped nearby. two philadelphia police officers are okay after they were involved in a bad wreck. this all happened around 2:30 a.m. at the germantown avenue and high street. the officers were in an unmarked police vehicle and they were hit head on. we are told the driver of the other car was taken to the hospital to be treated. happening today, philadelphia will be front and center in the race for the white housest democratic nominee hillary clinton makes a stop here along with her vice presidential nominee tim kaine. the pair plan to attend a rally at penn park university of pennsylvania later this evening. friday, clinton was in the

so far police did not release a motive for the shooting. just hours earlier, police in philadelphia's west oak lane section responded to a shooting that involved three people. a 52-year-old man and two 32-year-old men were shot on east walnut lane. they are listed in stable condition. police have no motives or suspects. a car accident involving a top delaware county official right now is under investigation. according to traffic citations and sources, director of emergency services, ed truitt rear ended another driver on september 29 in middletown township. the victim tells police that ed truitt left the scene. ed truitt was issued two traffic citations, but not charged with a hit and hit-and-run. ed truitt has requested medical leave and is off the job. lawmakers continue to

investigate the deadly train crash in hoboken new jersey. we have learned that the nj transit new executive director will testify before a state commitee next month. new jersey lawmakers are threatening to use subpoena power if they don't show up at the next hearing november 4. the investigation continues into the september 29 crash of a train into the hoe -- hoboken terminal killing one and injuring one hundred. septa completed the crumb creek viaduct replacement bridge in necessitier proven -- necessitier necessitier -- it is designed for a 100 year life span.
