good afternoon in the news this noon. vandals have destroyed donald trump's star on the walk of fame. >> and several officers are on leave following a deadly shooting at a motel. and a fire tragedy in chester county. a 65-year-old woman was killed when flames tore through her home in birmingham township at south birmingham road and the long time homeowner was found dead on the floor. gray hall is following the investigation and joins us now live from the birmingham township police department. >> well, sara that victim lived in her home not far from the police department for 30 years and last night the unthinkable happened. tragedy overnight in chester township. just after 11:00 p.m. tuesday night along birmingham road the house went up in flames and the

home opener did not make is out alive. >> there was a fire in the house and the first fireman did a search of the residence and found a victim on the first floor bedroom. >> this captures the images of the boarded up home after the fire. the victim is identified as bonnie lynn hall. >> there were smoke detectors inside of the residence. >> someone noticed the fire and called for help. firefighters are still not sure what caused it. they say it appears to have started in the back of the home. >> it was 10 minutes of the first or second truck being there the crews found the victim. >> all right so back out live, a heart breaking story we can also tell that you this fire does not appear to be suspicious and sadly we have to report that the owner also lost their two pets a

dog and cat. and the investigation continues into what caused this fire. live in birmingham township, gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. we have brand new surveillance video of yesterday's smash and grab at boyds philadelphia in center city. a red toyota rav 4 backed into the back window just enough to crack the glass. the suspects got out and finished breaking the window, they rushed inside of the high end store and ran ott with handfuls of misdemeanor worth $45,000. they put the goods in a silver mercedes benz parked on chestnut. police have not identified any of the suspects. we woke up to a taste of winter this morning but we are slightly warming up this afternoon. sky 6 hd looking at the commodore barry bridge and winds are a bit lighter than yesterday and plenty of sunshine out there and definitely a chill in the

air as temperatures climb into the 50s that is a big improvement over this morning. lets see what is in store for the rest of the day. demeanor david murphy is out on the terrace. >> reporter: neighborhoods experienced temperatures below freezing, we are starting to recover with a sun and clouds mix. 48 degrees in philadelphia. some spots to the south hit the 50 degree mark and 46 in reading and these are all numbers down below where we were this time yesterday. 7 degrees cooler than yesterday in philadelphia. wind speeds are not as bad single didn'tities across the region. we have improved. 54 degrees almost 10 degrees below the high of 63. and check out the overnight low. this morning we got down into the mid to upper 30s in the

immediate region and down close to freezing and near freezing in spots but the 41 indicates milder conditions headed in. tomorrow morning is chilly but not as cold as this morning. the satellite shows you cloud cover sneaking in from the north and west and beyond the cloud cover you see rain in ohio. by tomorrow morning some of that could be crossing the lehigh valley and poconos and it may be cold enough in those areas, to produce wet snow for tomorrow morning. that is a sign of the changing times. for the rest of us it will be rain and by the time it's said and done late tomorrow night, a .25 to .50 inch in spots going higher than that. it's arrival and departure, we are talking about the weekend and things are changing and there is a big area of warm air on the way. >> thank you. several children escaped when their school bus caught

fire in west philadelphia. firefighters needed to hose down the vehicle near the intersection of north 67th and media streets. the bus was taking seven students to the overbrook center when the flames broke out. all of them got out safely and they walked the remaining blocks to school. a number of residents were treated for smoke inhalation when a fire ignited at their assistant living center. they were called to pennsauken and the entire building was evacuated and crews had the blaze under control 45 minutes later. annie mccormick will have the full story at 12:30. septa workers are back at the bargaining table today. talks resumed yesterday as monday's strike deadline resumes. they plan to strike if they don't have a new contract. the workers and septa are at odds on several issues including

wages, pensions and health care. if the union was to go on strike, septa buses and trolleys would be affected but not the regional rail. >> after a deadly shooting at a motel. yesterday morning, police were trying to serve an arrest warrant at a motel in elkton southwest of wilmington. officials say brandon jones and chelsea porter both from dover showed what appears to be handguns at police and they appear to be pellet guns. they are wanted on more than a dozen weapons charges each. chopper 6 hd over hatboro, montgomery county, where firefighters are on the scene of a blaze here a two alarm house fire at 13 west county line road here in hatboro, the firefighters were called out at 11:30, just over a half hour ago. it looks like the flames came

through the roof and the firefighters are on the roof looking to see if there is remaining hot spots. no reports of anyone that needed to go to the hospital or any injuries, we'll monitor this in montgomery county where firefighters are on the scene of a blaze at this hour. in the race for the white house donald trump is taking a break from campaigning to open his new hotel in the nation's capital. after a ribbon cutting ceremony in the nation's capital he will visit north carolina this afternoon. mike pence is trying to boost the ticket in utah today that has not backed a democrat for president in 52 years. hillary clinton is encouraging florida voters to cast an early ballot. she is celebrating her 69th birthday with two events this afternoon. they are coming up with their own plan to lower health costs, after they unveiled that

if you have information you are asking to contact philadelphia police. two children ages 10 and 13 slept lieu a home invasion at their grandparent's house. a man broke into their home and looked for things to steal. they wound out taking a cellaphobe from sleeping kids and took one's gun and credit cards. a second suspect kept guard outside of the front door, since the break-in the grandparents installed new locks and lights outside. a man says a man was shot outside of a middle school and dozens of children witnessed the shooting leaving middle school outside of salt lake city, utah. he was rushed into surgery and the juvenile suspect remains in police custody. a florida amusement park decided to close its own river rapids ride after four people

died on a similar ride in australia. they shut down congo river rapids while they look to figure out what happens there yesterday. four people were killed when a conveyer belt malfunctioned. and now they are looking to see what nearly half the crew on board suddenly fell ill mid-flight. >> -- >> the a-380 was headed to san francisco from london when the pilot declared an emergency, 11 of 25 crew members reported feeling sick but none of the passengers felt symptoms, each crew member was hospitalized when the plane landed in canada as a precaution. a small plane had an unexpected layover in central pennsylvania, after it hit a deer a portion of the landing

gear fell off when it hit the deer during takeoff at blue bell. it landed safely at lancaster airport. no one was hurt but the deer did not survive. another driver is caught carpooling with a fake passenger, the man used a ball with a hat disguises as a baby in a car seat so he could drive in the carpool lane in washington state. the police officer noticed it during a traffic stop. he walked away with the ticket and the police had a funny picture. the cleveland indians are heading into game two after they shut out chicago last night in cleveland. one cubs fans predicted a victory 23 years ago in his high school yearbook. look at mike lee's senior photo from 1 9 93.

it's still on the cool side too. starting out in philadelphia with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s or 30s i should say and down around the freezing mark in the suburbs down to 38 in philadelphia, winds are out of the north not as strong as yesterday and still noticeable at 7 miles per hour. allentown 47, 46 in reading, 49 in trenton and 49 in cape may, new jersey. here come the clouds on satellite. we started out with the sunshine and the clouds are starting to streak in and high and thin and clouds and sun mix, and the rain is out to the west in ohio and will take a while to creep into pennsylvania and northern suburbs could catch the precipitation and rain might at times mix with wet snowflakes in the lehigh valley early tomorrow morning, clouds and sun and chilly today and 52 in advance of all of that. down the shore a mix of clouds and sun today as well. a high of 55 degrees, air

temperature cooler than the ocean temperature it's that time of year. 54 and partly sunny and cool and winds from the northwest 6 to 12 and not as strong as yesterday. and shades are probably a good idea. dipping down from the high of 54, 51 by 5:50 on the nose and upper 40s by 6:00. the overnight low only going down to 41. not as cool as last night. some suburbs could get down to the 37, 38 range. and we'll see clouds increasing overnight and very light. in terms of rain, tomorrow night at 5:30. we are on the air we'll have cloud cover, and rain north and west of philadelphia during the morning commute some of that may try to creep through the lehigh valley and the poconos. you see the precipitation is highlighted in blue and that is an indication of mixed precipitation for perhaps the first wet snowflakes breachly for a couple of you up north. we get to some showers building in from the west for the late
