tuesday night along the 1300 block of birmingham road the house went up in flames and the homeowner never made it out alive. >> the firefighters arrived and the fire was in the rear portion of the house and the first fireman did a search of the residence and found a victim on the first floor bedroom. >> chopper 6 hd flew over the scene and captured he's images of the boarded up home. the victim is 65-year-old bonnie lynn hall. >> the victim did win alone and there were working smoke detecters in the residence. someone passing by noticed the fire and called pour help. firefighters are not shore what accused it but it appears to have started in the back of the home. >> it was 20 minutes to extinguish the fire after the first or second truck there the crews found the victim. >> the fire does not appear to be suspicious and sadly we have

to report that the homeowner lost her two patets, a dog and cat. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." news of another fire this one at a residential home for seniors in pennsauken, it sent six people to the hospital at 7:00 a.m. inside of a two bedroom unit at the bentley senior living facility. about 150 people had to be evacuated while to residents and two employees were treated for smoke inhalation and crews spent the morning ventilating the building. >> as you can imagine there is extinguisher residue and thicks like that that have to be cleaned up and taken care of. the fire marshall is working to determine the cause of blaze. now to the race for the white house. hillary clinton is once again focusing her efforts on florida.

that too is causing xloeing this afternoon. >> thank you. the pentagon is suspending all attempts to collect bonuses from members of the california national guard. that order came down this morning straight from defense secretary ash carter, veterans and their families were asked to pay back enlistment bonuses they should not have received ten years ago. carter says they are working on a solution to this problem. until that is agreed upon the pentagon will stop going after soldiers for reimbursements. >> if the state rejects the city's turn around plan according to don guardian. it calls for selling off city land and laying off more than 100 workers and paying down most of its 100 million there's debt in order to avoid a state takeover. they have until tuesday to accept or reject that plan.

showing you 6:30 in the morning you'll notice light mix precipitation in the poconos and otherwise from allentown to the south and west it is all rain. as we advance this, the moisture moves off to the north and east and the freezing rain since expired at that time. so just rain for the poconos down to reading but the steadiest of that rain moves in tomorrow evening, by 5:30 we have batches of rain mainly to the west of philadelphia and they fill in through the rest of the evening hours and by 9:30 tomorrow night we are in and out of that wet weather. something to keep in mind with this type of year, with wet leaves on the road it can certainly be a hazard. studies have shown they can be as slippery as ice. there is a waxy coating on the top and bottom of the leaf and that repels the water and you lose traction on the roads. give yourself extra time and slow down as we track the wet weather tomorrow. here is the four day at 4:00,

philadelphia. chopper 6 hd was overhead as firefighters worked to put out the flames in the engine area. it caught fire just before 8:30 at north 67th and media streets at the overbrook education center. the students all walked two blocks to class. philadelphia corrections officers are accused of brutally assaulting an inmate and covering it all up. milton gibbs and sean low turned themselves into to authorities this morning. the alleged attack happened in june at the industrial center. >> he began punching him and dragging him to the central control area and further punched and kicked. and lost consciousness twice.

>> williams says the officers lied about what happened initially reported that the inmate's injuries were self inflicked. each is suspended without pay pending the outcome of their cases. 11 people are facing charges when penn state fans celebrated the victory of their huge win over ohio state. most are current or former students and he expects more to be charged after the investgation continues. dozens of street signs and lights were ripped out saturday night when thousands of fans rallied downtown. in all $18,000 in damage was left behind. a local business has joined forces with an animal rescue group to stop bullying. the group is called rescue road trips. the students are encouraged to have compassion and respect

a high school student is disciplined for putting a noose around a black football player's neck. he was disciplined at stone high school. they are not saying how he is being punished but the naacp is asking for a civil rights investigation. they are not taking chances with the congo river rapids ride after four people were killed on a similar ride at a busch gardens dens in australia. the ride malfunctioned. one overturned and trapped the victims on the conveyer belt.

lets get a check of the roads right now. >> people get desperate but not matt pellman. he is in the traffic center. >> whoa baby there is a lot of traffic on the vine street expressway both directions by the schuylkill, just normal afternoon volume we are watching and no overnight closure. scheduled on the vine for construction and that is good news. several accidents around the region one in center city along market along 16th and 17th and one on city avenue by bryn mawr avenue, it's extra messy this afternoon and upper darby township. it sounds like the bus accident along providence road as cleared out. this is a nasty one by the wawa this is the ramp from dekalb pike to welsh road eastbound up against the light pole this ramp is blocked and not causing a big delay at this point. a crash along 113 at bucks road and fire and police helping you around that.

monica malpass. a chester county family robbed at gun point in their own home. two masked men broke into the back of their house and tonight the search is on for the suspects. the big story on "action news" is the armed robbery investigation in upper ukland township. walter perez talked to one of the victims today. >> reporter: what makes this home invasion more disturbing is it happened at 9:30 in the morning in a quiet town when the homeowner was there with his wife and adult children and young grandchildren. >> he describes the scene as two masked men with guns broke into his home, he says they barged in through an unlocked back door

and one man kept an eye on family members, one forced his teenage grandson to fill a bag with cash and jewelry and then he bound the grandson's hands together. >> my grandson was very scared. they tied his hand and closed him in the closet. and outside they closed the door. >> patel says there was a third person inside of a get away car parked outside. but the gunman had one more order. before they left. >> get up and go into the bathroom. and he closed the bathroom and told us to count to 1,000. one two three, if before that you come out i shoot you. >> the thieves got away with an unspecified amounts of cash and jewelry. the police chief says it's a crime that has shaken this community. >> for our community this is something we rarely see up here. >> especially during that time of day?
