impacted how this will impact your commute. >> and "action news" reporters annie mccormick, john rawlins and bob brooks are gathering details to bring us live reports throughout the morning. >> let's start you off with meteorologist dave murphy. some people might have to walk to work and school today, david. >> they might. fortunately it's not raining out there. in fact as you look at satellite we're going to get some sun up over the horizon later this morning and then eventually later today a few more clouds streak in but it does look like it's going to be bright. still kind of cool. 41 degrees in philadelphia, 31 down below the freezing mark in allentown, 36 trenton, 34 millville, 49 cape may and as we roll through the day look for lots of sun but it stays cool. 40 degrees bicep clock. by 10 o'clock, 46. if you're trying to get around the city without septa by noon you're at 54 and your high will be 62 before slipping back to 59 at 6 o'clock. karen rogers. >> a septa strike affecting so many people. let's run down exactly what is and is not running right now. starting off with city buses.

no city buses running with this strike. suburban buses are running certainly expect overcrowding. the broad and market frankford subways not running, completely stopped with this strike. also the trolleys, route 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, 36 not running. 101 and 102 norristown high speedline that is running during the strike so this is affecting so many people. expect overcrowding. remember, we already have problems with the reaches because of the problems that we've had for months continuing. they're not at full capacity yet. we've seen many occasions where the regional rails are overcrowded skipping stations. expect that again today. don't forget that station that is sell tickets in advance you'll need to get that ticket in advance. you're not going to be able to give cash on the regional rails so that is going to be causing problems too with overcrowding. they're allowing you to pull up in the bus zones to kind of drop people off. we expect a lot of that today. we'll be following the problems with the regional rails overcrowding because what's not running.

we've got septa not running. huge problems right now that we expect through the morning and we'll be on top of it around the clock. we expect extra congestion on the highways as people are driving to work. right now looking at the vine street expressway in the clear but the big problem with the septa strike we're going to be following that through the morning matt and tam. >> thank you, karen. let's get out right now and head on over to "action news" reporter annie mccormick live outside the sheraton in center city. that's where septa officials and union leaders have been negotiating around the clock but thus far unsuccessfully. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that's right, they are still on strike. however, last night after making a statement just after midnight the head of the union said that they were going to go back to the table and continue to try negotiations throughout the night. for their part septa says they also want to continue those negotiations as well. take a look at this video. this is video of striking workers up in the northeast at bustleton. now, more than 4700 local tw

u2 34 members stopped work on the job at 12:01. septa suggested the union work through the negotiations and pass the midnight deadline and of a variety strange the president willie brown said they had to draw line in the sand after two years of negotiating. brown said they did agree on a few minor things. driver fatigue however is still an issue and so he is healthcare but the main sticking point is pensions. yesterday sources said both sides were tens of millions of dollars apart on this issue and a source said last night management gets a pension on full pay while union workers get a pension on partial pay and that is the deal breaker. brown spoke to the media just after midnight. take a listen. >> we have concede on a lot of things. we have been working this for two years. you know, and the thing that gets me the most is when you consider pensions, when you ask about the pensions we're not being agreed he deal. i think septa slapped the riding public in the face they slapped the taxpayers in the face when they told you they

going to do pension reform. instead of doing pension he reform what they did was lined their pockets. >> reporter: now, septa released a statement saying in part mr. brown walked away from a contract offer that would have provided his members pay raises and enhanced pension benefits maintained healthcare coverage levels and continue job security both governor wolf and mayor kenney are also weighing in saying this could be devastating to individuals and families. they're urging both sides to continue their negotiations and to come to an agreement. for now reporting live in center city, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." back to you. >> annie, thank you for that. septa estimates that 56,000 school children in philadelphia ride its trains buses and trolleys in order to get to school. philadelphia public and charter schools are opened today. archdiocesan schools are closed for a religious holiday. the school district says students who use septa and are unable to attend school due to lack of transportation will

get an excused absence. students who arrive late will not be marked tardy. yellow school buses will continue to operate. >> "action news" reporter john rawlins is live at the 69th street transportation center in upper darby. john this is an area where septa riders are going to find trouble going if point a to point b. >> reporter: that is correct. sixty-ninth street station is kind of interesting. it has both suburban service and city transit service here. normally it would have both operating and running by now. the city transit is out on a strike. suburban is operate, that's the good news but it is going to make for problems. it's quiet here, it's still pretty early but let me set the scene. around the corner on victory avenue we should have video of pickets there from the twu. they assembled there shortly after midnight. most of the folks here are involved with the market frankford line they maintain and operate the line. this is the western term us in for the market frankford line. they are being watched closely by police. in the meantime early commuters are trying to find a

work around this city transit strike. it's not been easy for them. >> frustrated. but motivated. i have to get to work. >> reporter: dante lowry normally grabs a bus in west philadelphia and then transfers to a suburban trolley here at 69th street station butter with the strike that means there is no city transit operating this morning. >> just had to walk 17 blocks. had to walk 17 blocks. weren't 04 is running. i hope it's running. >> reporter: courtney helms was headed in the opposite direction leaded to west philadelphia where there is no service. >> i came from ups hub and i'm going to 63rd and vine. >> reporter: so you were able to get a suburban bus to here. >> and that's it. >> reporter: now you got to get home. >> yeah. >> reporter: how are you going to do that? >> i don't know. i guess i'm going to be walking. >> reporter: there's a theme there. a lot of people are probably going have to be walking. they're certainly going to

morning to stable condition but still so far no word on what kicked off that fire. >> ♪ >> new this morning, a new 6abc franklin and marshall college poll one week before the election shows hillary clinton is holding onto her lead in pennsylvania. the numbers just show clinton at 49 percent to donald trump's 38 percent among likely voters in the hotly contested senate race democrat katie mcginty is leading republican incumbent pat toomey 47 to 35 percent among likely voters. one in six remain undecided. the margin of error is plus or minor 5 percent. the gas tax is new jersey is now 23 cents more per gallon. the hike went into effect at midnight. it is the garden state's first gas tax hike since 1988. governor chris christie wants to set the tax revenue aside to fund transportation projects. that decision will be up to the voters in a referendum on election day. >> now let's turn and talk about accuweather.

a lot of people will be taking a long walk to get to where they're going. >> and it's going to be a chilly morning, kind of a cool walk home, too. storm tracker6 live double scan shows you that we're dry fortunately. as we take a look outside we have clear skies overhead, lots of sunshine on the way a little later this morning and the winds aren't too light so there are a lot of factors playing in our favor but it is a cool start. 41 degrees right now in philadelphia. your low dewpoint negates that dry air. winds out of the northeast at just 6 miles per hour this morning. most of us dealing with single digit winds in some places it's calm. there you see the promise of sunshine with the lack of cloud cover, a little bit of high cloud cover may streak in during the day but it's not going to be too bad. here's where numbers are going over the next 12 hours. 39 degrees on the bus stop by 8 o'clock. 46 degrees by 10 o'clock. 54 degrees by noon. and then by 3 o'clock, 62. that's going to be your high a little better than yesterday and still holding 60 by about 5 o'clock. if you're traveling home around 6 o'clock you're probably starting to get into the up are 50's. high temperatures this afternoon across the region, it looks like we'll get up to about 60 or so he in

allentown, reading, trenton, wilmington and of course philadelphia and millville. even down the shore 61 degrees in cape may. very even numbers today. things do change in a hurry tomorrow, though. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 62 degrees, a nice november start today with a fair amount of sunshine and some occasional high clouds particularly this afternoon. and then tomorrow, a southerly flow kicks in, bringing those numbers up from the south. we're going to wind up with a high of 73 degrees tomorrow, nice and warm and that surge continues on thursday ahead of an approaching cold front. a high up to 78 degrees but sun will give way to clouds and in the afternoon or evening at some point we'll be looking at the arrival of some thunderstorms and showers. and then friday sunny breezy and cool back to 60. for the weekends sunny and chilly on saturday, a high of just 59 degrees. the unity cup at citizens bank park, the compilation or championship game i should say of that inner city -- or in-city soccer tournament we're dealing with, really nice first year event. clouds, some sun on sunday,

>> ♪ >> good morning everyone, it's 4:14, tuesday, first day in the month of november and the first day of the septa strike. we're live on mobile6 here creeping along at tenth and market streets here in center city. and not so much traffic here right now but you do expect more people on the roads and maybe even walking about because typically people that use septa won't be able to do so this morning. >> let's go on over to karen rogers. she is -- will be the focus of this morning as people try to understand what's going on. good morning. >> and so crippling for your morning commute to think septa just not running. this is day one here. city buses not running. suburban buses are running. so you can take the suburban buses. we've got the market and frankford subways not running. that's a big one. also not running, trolley routes 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, 36. now the 101, one oh he two trolley they are running as well as the norristown high speedline. trying to understand for you what's running and not running but certainly causing so many problems through the morning. you can take the regional rails but we're already having problems with overcrowding

with the regional rails so we expect that especially as you get to those stops closer to the city. as we've seen many times already with the problems that we've had with regional rails, we've seen the trains just bypassing certain stations. they have added some extra trains to try to help with this but we expect overcrowding with the regional rails to be a major issue. as we look outside live on i-95 expecting more people on the roads and right now we've got an accident. this is on i-95 here northeast philadelphia between street road and woodhaven road as you're heading southbound towards academy you can see the flashing lights with police. we've got an accident blocking the left lane. penndot on the scene. traffic slowing past the scene. looking on your majors that's our only accident here. the blue route and schuylkill moving nicely. we expect more people hanging out at those regional rails waiting nor train to come or maybe walking to work and it's a cool morning. 28 degrees in martins creek. temperatures almost 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. 30 in quakertown sitting below the freezing mark pottstown, right at it in coatesville. 36 saint davids, run in systems it will be a sunny day

today but only 33 he in hammonton right now. 35 in glassboro. 38 degrees in dover, delaware. matt and tam. >> all right, thank you, karen. let's go on over now to "action news" reporter bob brooks for a live look at the only station. bob that's usually a packed busy station on a workday morning. >> reporter: tamala, good morning. we expect it to be even more crowded because of the strike that's happening. you can see behind me here nobody here right now but again that's 100 percent going to change as the regional rail line one of the only -- it is the only train that's in and around the city available during the strike. so, we expect it to get jam packed this morning. i want to bring up some video here. you're going to see this is from the frankford transportation center just moments after that strike was announced. as you can imagine riders there they weren't very happy. we'll hear from them in just a second but again, 400,000 plus riders depend on septa every day obviously we hope things turn out well for commuters though. this no doubt is going to be a huge inconvenience. now, on top of the regional

rail line there are some other bus and trolley routes still in service around the city. it's limited so please check in on what those are. now also the ride sharing company uber is expanding their services. i want to bring up a graphic be and -- an man. uber pool is expanding its service during the strike. this is one way to try and keep your costs down during the strike. it's a little cheaper. 75 percent cheap her than regular uber x. uber pool coverage is going to expand the entire septa system while it's happening. this is that new coverage map that is on your screen right now. it's an 800 percent increase adding service to cover 59 new station right now for at least weren't septa rider we spoke with that does not matter. she's pretty upset and disapp pointed it had to come to this. >> it's affecting everybody. there's kids that have to go to school, parents that have to get to work. there's people that have to go about their dale life and they're not going to be able

a new study suggestions uber and lyft drivers are quietly discriminating against riders based on gender and race. the study was published by professors at mit and stanford based on nearly 1500 rides taken in seattle and boston. the study found in uber drivers in boston are more than twice as likely to cancel rides who had african-american sounding names rather than white sounding names. black riders also waited 30 percent longer for an uber ride to arrive. plus, drivers also took female passengers for longer more expensive rides. >> ♪ roof. grab 'em by the p*á*á". when you're a star, they let you do it. you can do anything. more accusers coming forward to say they were sexually assaulted
