and they say, hey, is this going to fly in the pennsylvania delegation? and they know that if the answer is yes, it's going to work. if the answer is no, they have to make it work for pennsylvania. >> reporter: toomey started his day in northeast philadelphia. he also made stops in willings bury, harrisburg, johnstown and fitz. toomey's challenger also criss-crossed the state today. she took the stage ahead of hillary clinton's rally on independence mall where she emphasized her stance on equal pay. >> it is urgent that when someone puts in a good, hard day's work, that they get and they deserve an honest day's pay. we will fight and we will win to increase the minimum wage. and equal pay for equal work. it's urgent and it's on the ballot. >> reporter: mcginty also campaigned in western pennsylvania today. she held a rally the at university of pittsburgh this

afternoon. the toomey/mcginty race is the most expensive senate race in american history. but in addition to that pennsylvania voters have several other prominent races on the ballot. the state will have a new attorney general following the scandalous end to kathleen kane's term. and a state treasurer and a state auditor general. and house seats on the ballot in all 18 congressional districts. in new jersey garden state vote for the house of representatives in the 12 congressional districts. no senate seats up for grabs in the garden state. but the major question statewide are two constitutional amendments. one, whether to expand gambling outside of atlantic city to other counties. specifically in north jersey. while another asks whether to dedicate the revenue raised by the new gas tax to the

use the hashtag 6abc action on social media or email us at join the action at 6abc.com. officials are investigating a deadly police-involved shooting in north philadelphia. it happened at 7 p.m. tonight on the 3100 block of north ninth street. police say they were trying to chase down a suspect in an earlier shooting when that suspect pulled a gun on officers. the officers opened fire causing the suspect to drop two guns. police say the suspect then reached for one of those guns, forcing police to shoot again. >> they saw that the suspect was reaching and grabbed the revolver that was close to him. police then fired a second round of shots. >> the suspect was pronounced dead at temple university hospital. identified as a 31-year-old man from just outside of altoona.

a woman and young child in critical condition after they were stabbed in the mantua section of philadelphia. along the 700 block of north preston street. police say a 2-year-old boy was stabbed in the head and a woman in her 50s was stabbed in the left shoulder. investigators were able to arrest the suspect and recover a weapon. according to police the victim and suspect know each other. we have no word yet on the motive. the buses, trolleys and subways back in service in philadelphia. septa and the twu came to a tent ty agreement overnight that ends the six day strike. christie ileto was live tonight. how did the evening rush hour go for the transit agency and the commuters? >> reporter: a lot smoother than last week. this was the news that many commuters had been waiting for. and we have been seeing buses

property inwood rough, south carolina. todd colheff is a suspect in seven deaths. he confessed to killing four phymata motorcycle shop in 2003. police uncovered three bodies on his property. two of the victims have not been identified. the south jersey native who carried out a deadly attack at los angeles international airport was sentenced to life in prison plus 60 years today. paul seansea killed a federal transportation officer and wounded three others during a rampage in 2013. the 26-year-old pleaded guilty in september. he had told the court he had become sick of life. decided to kill himself and to take up arms against the government. officials in oklahoma say between 40 and 50 buildings were damaged in yesterday's earthquake. 5.0 on the richter scale. it hit 70 miles outside of oklahoma city near curbing, one of the world's biggest oil hubs.

but the shaking was so strong it was felt in illinois, iowa, and texas. no damage was reported to the nearby oil terminal and fortunately nobody was seriously hurt. former u.s. attorney general janet reno is being remembered as a trailblazer. reno, the first woman to serve as the country's top prosecutor died early this morning from complications of parkinson's disease. she was in some of the most divisive events in the clinton, white water, monica lewinsky and the seizure of elian gonzalez. she died at her miami home surrounded by loved ones. she was 78 years old. a plane was forced to make an emergency landing because a snake was found slithering in the overhead bin. you can see the snake emerge from the ceiling and partially drop down into the cabin. the carrier, air row mexico
