city. >> reporter: brian and sharrie, we have stopped by a few polling places this afternoon. i hear the same thing from all of them. the turnout is massive. maybe record setting. this is the department of public health, they set up a refreshment section here. the line a little down now, we are told that will pick up after people start to get out of work and come down here. this is an election that all ages are getting involved in. it's an election that has captivated the country and people of all ages. they told us they were doing their civic duty. reminding people on broad street to get out and vote. from what we heard the turnout turns out to be as historic the the election.

checked. for hillary clinton this is the culmination of almost 40 years of public service. will she be the 45th u.s. president? excitement is running high. bomb sniffing dogs are patrolling and homeland security have check points at every corner. thousands of journalists are in the media center today with a satellite truck outside and crews are adjusting the backdrop. and they are closely watching pennsylvania hoping to create a fire wall. if they win pennsylvania that will really cut off an avenue for donald trump. >> clinton held 278 rallies, like at independence mall and visited 37 states. seeing voters the payoff. >> i spent time in china where there is totally apathy, it's exciting to be here and be part of the process. >> there are more people online

watch party will take place in the hotel ballroom a few blocks from trump tower where we expect him to watch the results come in from his home and perhaps come here late they are evening and talk to reporters from the podium behind me and the several flags bathed in red, white and blue. as far as supporters and surrogates they have not arrived yet we spoke with a few of them in the hotel lobby. but as for the media it's not much of a celebration but kind of frustration in fact. it has been a logistical nightmare for members of the media we have waited for hours to get this. the credentials so we can come into this ballroom here. traditionally they are handed out the day before but of course the donald trump campaign has not been a traditional one. and it's a day of frustration and adventure. members of the media from all over the world were here waiting for these credentials so they

campaign hopes to deter any questionable behavior. the vp and his wife dr. jill biden cast their ballots at ai dupont high school in wilmington. the vice president has vocally supported hillary clinton and it has been a heck of a campaign and applauded the volunteers who are manning the poll today. president obama continued his election day tradition of playing basketball with friends today and then walked to the white house and said is he not feeling nervous about the outcome. >> as long as people vote i think they will do a good job. the president supports hillary clinton and voted early last month in chicago his home town. a look at closing numbers in the u.s. stocks, the rally upward continues on this day, the dow rallying up more than 72 points and the nasdaq up more than 27 and the s&p 500 up over 8 points today.

bit of a rally in the weather department too. you can't complain about the sunshine today. adam call its the real winner this day. >> reporter: for sure something we can agree upon this afternoon. today was a beauty and now the sun is lower on the horizon and it looks darker and clouds increasing from the west so we are losing the deep blue sky as the clouds thicken up here overnight tonight. the numbers are pretty nice, 67 in philadelphia and wilmington and 62 allentown and 65 in reading and the same for millville and the shore today temperatures in the mid up toer 60s like the atlantic city airport at the present time. you can see again the bright sunshine through much of the day. the high clouds coming in into the western suburbs and new jersey and delaware and a little bit of green on there that is a ribbon of rain in the form of a cold front pushing through first thing tomorrow morning. as the polls close here this evening for you voters that

still have to get out there. 65 at 5:00. it stays dry and the rain is not here until early tomorrow morning. 6:00, 62 and we quickly drop from the 60s to the 50s by 7:00 and polls close at 8:00 at 56. if you are in line by 8:00 they say still can vote after the 8:00 hour. if you are still outside by 9:00 temperatures sit at 55 degrees. as we look at future tracker 68:00 tomorrow morning, lights showers from the north and west. it's a dreary switch into wednesday and again light showers they break apart as they sink to the south and east and a lot of clouds and mist and drizzle and that continues in delaware and new jersey into the evening rush hour tomorrow while areas to the northern and west of philadelphia you can see future tracker 6 trying to break the clouds apart by late afternoon. we could really use a good soaking but we are looking at an average of .25 inch, because since october 1st. philadelphia is nearly 2 inches

below normal for rainfall totals and over 3 inches for allentown and close to 3 inches for trenton and wilmington 1 to 2 inches of rain and unfortunately not this go around to kind of add or subtract some of these numbers. as we look at the four day at 4:00 forecast, showers at times tomorrow and much cooler, high temperature of 58 degrees, it stays on the cool side on thursday, breezy and the sun is back in full force at 57. winds whip up here friday afternoon. it's warm at 63 and the winds turn much colder as we get into saturday, it's dry and a high of just 49 with windchills near 40 during the day on saturday. so quite a switch-aroo so to speak. saturday only feeling near 40. >> what was your word saturday? >> whoop dedo.

high in philadelphia today. the low was 39 so we did jump 30 degrees from this morning to this afternoon. again, the clouds quickly racing in here from the west. the rain is still west of pittsburgh at this point. it's not going to arrive in our northwestern suburbs of philadelphia during the overnight hours and really waiting until tomorrow morning's rush hour. for this evening, between 5:00 and 6:00. the temperatures stay in the 60s so if you have to head out to vote, 7:00 we start to drop back into the 50s and it stays dry and it stays on the chillier side by 8:00, 9:00, if you are still standing in line temperatures in the middle 50s and want to bring a jacket. tomorrow though, cooler 58 for a high. that is it. low pressure comes through with the cold front. and brings a period of showers here looking at a .10 to .25 inch of rain. not a lot of rain with it but dreary at times and that exits
