our election continues with the hotly contested eighth district. walter perez is live in buck county with more on the match-up with brian fitzpatrick. >> reporter: hey guy, the only district is one of only three congressional seats in pennsylvania. this was one tough fought race, they are state representative steve sensario and fitzpatrick and the buy they are trying to succeed. the candidates vying for the only district seat fitzpatrick whose brother mike fitzpatrick is the retiring incumbent. it's one of the most closely watched in the country. along with the campaign and

outside groups they spent more than so million. they are looking to separate brian from his popular four term brother. they say the brother say carpet bagger here to cash in on his brother's good name. he says he is a levittown native, and only moved to california in the first place to serve his country with the fbi. and they plan on fighting until the final moment. >> now congressman, mike fitzpatrick is a long time proponent of the term limits and said a long time ago it would be his last. channel 6 "action news" back to you. >> thank you. meantime officials say that someone vandalized an electronic voting machine in bethel township, delaware county.

the fire hose company on the 1700 block says that someone marked up the machine way pencil. the voter noticed the vandalism and alerted officials who acted quickly. >> i call the the board of elections and they sent someone out that repaired the machine and i had to shut it down during the busiest time because no one should have seen that or been influenced by it. the judge of elections says in her 12 years on her job never saw anything like this and the machine was cleaned and then reopened. 6 abc is teaming up once again with the league of women voters, to answer questions you may have on this election day. nydia han is standing by in the election certain, the phones are running. >> they are ringing off the hook. the good news is, while we are getting many questions from

their vote. >> voters in springfield, delaware county, bundled up and headed to the polls lines stretched out the door and down the sidewalk, folks did not seem to mind the wait. one resident there giving the thumbs up. voters in new jersey had an hour advantage, polls opened at 6:00 in the garden state and residents in ewing were up bright and early to cast their ballots. long lines and voter turnout this election day. that is the big story tonight and we have live team coverage, christie aleto live at temple university but we begin with nora muchanic live in you ewing with more on the situation there. >> reporter: huge voter turnout today. we have reports of waiting lines up to 3 hours in north jersey that is not the case here. look behind me, there are waits on and off, they are busy here during the day but the lines are moving quickly and voters are

"action news" was at the vincent apartments with more people lined up inside and outside of that building. two people vying for the second congressional seat. dwight evans trying to jump from

seat to capital hill. he is vying for chaka fattah's seat. and his challenger is republican james jones, that lost the congressional bid in 2008. they are running in two races in the second district one will immediately fill the spot for chaka fattah and who will fill the term in the house of representatives. >> and one to watch is the race for attorney general following the arrest of kathleen kane, "action news" caught up with josh shapiro as he talked to the fairmount school. he is running against john rafferty and we caught up with him in eagleville montgomery county. voters in wilmington are selecting a new mayor.

robert martin greeted voters outside of ban croft elementary school. his democratic opponent mike preziki was there with his wife to cast his vote today. >> and jesse jackson was at a polling place in center city philadelphia. he spent time in michigan, florida and other early voting states to encourage people to exercise their right. >> we must not resist, what we must embrace. it's about democracy. let the loser lose and the winner win but let all of us have easy access to voting. >> and reverend jackson says that pennsylvania should adopt early voting. >> and this campaign is reaching out to young voters, it's hard to say who is more successful.
