questions. including one that could seriously hurt atlantic city. it is tuesday night and the big story on "action news" is election day 2016. can you believe it is finally here? lets get right to it. monica malpass and rick williams are in new york city covering the headquarters of donald trump and hillary clinton. and back in our area, sara bloomquist, jeff jericho and bob brooks are focusing on other big races and on you the voter. bob brooks live at a polling place in center city philadelphia. how has it been at this location? >> reporter: busy here and busy at just about every polling place i stopped out in center city this evening. i am told that the turnout could be record setting, we'll wait for the votes to come in. they set up a coffee stand and donut stand for voters, it's a long day for everyone working hard and right next to us the

polling place at the department of public health through the doors you can cast your ballot and have you until 8:00 tonight to get here. after an election that polarized our country for many months we are down to two hours to vote. we heard from those that want hillary. >> that could be extra special yes. >> and those that want trump? >> i want him to ease legal immigration that is important. >> and those that had such sustain didn't pick any. >> that is what my heart tells me to do. >> to not vote for any presidential candidate. >> regardless the numbers from center city are big. >> we can tell from the trajectory there are more votes than certainly the last presidential election. >> that is linda haan at 10th and locust at jefferson hospital. is there is a huge turnout of a demographic not used to seeing. >> a tremendous amounts of young

voters. >> it's also been an election that all ables are involved in. the kids independence charter school took over a portion of south broad to remind you to vote. >> the only problem we thought of at the vine and broad polling place we were told that two machines broke this morning, people chose to wait and be late for work. they were not missing this vote. >> certainly nice to see the young people getting involved and through the doors is where you can cast your ballot here at the department of public health and i am told by people working the polls if you have not cast your ballots by 8:00 as long as you are in line by 8:00 they let you cast your vote. bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. lets get a suburban perspective from "action news" reporter jeff, live at cheltenham high school. how has it been there? >> reporter: jim, it is heavy some some places, we are told

there are young lines in new hanover, but here at the high school there is absolutely no line you can go in and vote and be out in a few minutes. officials here is a there has already been tremendous turnout. nearly 70% of all registered voters have cast their ballots at this precinct and the voters we spoke with say they are determined to have their voices heard. >> it's awful close it scares me a little. >> one reason this couple from jenkin town made it to work. >> we had lots of people in line before 7:00, before 7:00 a.m. and we have seen a constant flow. >> officials reported heavy turnout and voters seemingly anxious to have their voices heard. >> i think there is a lot of corruption and stuff going on and i think there are a lot of things that should have been

taken care of in the last four years. >> this former never trumper was won over by the candidate because of his ideas. >> when he started coming out with policies, i agree with the policies. >> for reagan who became a citizenship this year. donald trump's rhetoric made it easy. >> i don't think i could vote for this guy so i go to the other guy. >> need someone that is a good representative and leader for our country. >> i spoke with officials here in montgomery county, they say there were a few broken machines throughout the day, those were quickly replaced but no serious irregularities. channel 6 "action news." >> jeff, thank you. hillary clinton voted this morning at a school near her home near chappaqua, new york, the only comment, i'll do the very best i can if i'm fortunate

enough to win today. >> her aides say she has written a victory and concession speech. >> this is donald and melania trump voting this morning. trump refused to say today if he would accept the results should he lose. he said we'll see how things play out. >> lets go live to the javits center in new york. clinton headquarters and monica malpass. >> reporter: hi jim, five months after clinching the nomination in philadelphia. hillary clinton is hoping to win it all here tonight. she has been a lawyer, secretary of state, first lady and a senator. and now she is cautiously optimistic to see if she with add president and commander and chief to the list. >> federal state and local officers are working to prevent violence from bomb sniffing dogs to metal detecters.

they are doing sound and light checks and recording every historic detail. hillary clinton will come here tonight to see if she shattered the glass ceiling and pennsylvania is key to success. >> there are hours before the polls close and we are doing everything we can. >> former congresswoman is a clinton inlaw and she says that hillary earned it. >> the respect she had the senate was amazing, she really studies and knows her stuff and works it and was not a show horse at all in the senate. she worked hard. >> voters stood three and four deep in places to try and vote. making their voices heard. >> being part of the democratic process. it's messy. it's our privilege and our right. >> so now the javits center is set behind me, thousands of media are in place and polling

places are closing soon. i'm monica malpass we'll be with you throughout the evening live from the javits center back to you jim. >> just 17 blocks away is trump headquarters, rick williams is here. >> slowly but surely, donald trump supers and surrogates are filing into the hotel ballroom for tonight's watch party and the- she told me she couldn't wait to vote today because she knows donald trump has a clear path to victory, a narrow one for sure but certainly a path. and it may go through pennsylvania. >> i really firmly believe that donald trump will win, because people are fed up with business as usual in washington, they want a change someone that is not beholden to the special interest of washington and the

only person that donald trump is beholden to is the american people. that is what they want. >> they are confident that trump can win pennsylvania without the strong showing in the state's largest city, philadelphia. >> it's how he forms outside of center city that they are banking on. listen to this assessment. that being said it depends on how bad we lose philadelphia. the numbers i see from the energy i'm seeing i think we are doing well in northeast philly and the river wards and roxborough and manayunk and a heck of a lot better in the black neighborhoods. >> bold predictions from members of the gop and we'll know for sure in a few short hours. >> thank you rick. in pennsylvania the race for senate is a bitter and

enormously bitter contest. make the most expensive senate race ever. sara bloomquist is live at the sheridan downtown hotel in center city. >> good evening jim as you know this is a race to watch and will be nationally. as the democrats try to win enough seats to overtake the u.s. senate. katie mcginty and pat toomey are neck and neck at the polls right up to election day. it's believed to be the most expensive senate race in history. the federal election commission putting the price tag at $160 million most of that spent on negative campaign ads. katie mcginty who never held elected office voted this morning. she pressed her opponent if he supports donald trump and he refused to do that. toomey will not be voting until 6:45 tonight in zionsville in the lehigh valley. mcginty called that another

autoder general. delaware residents are selecting a new governor as state senator, greeted voters in bear, newcastle county after he voted in wood side this morning. democratic u.s. congressman john carnie stopped by north star elementary in hockessin to talk to voters and then headed to the park view apartments in wilmington to cast his ballot. voters in delaware are electing a new lieutenant governor and congressman. and newcastle county is getting a new county executive. new jersey voters decide two ballot questions, the first asks whether to amend the state contuse to expand casino gambling to the northern part of the state and asked if the revenue from the new gas tax hike should be dedicated to new transportation project and that tax added 23 questionses to a

in collegeville and as you can see, there are owe lines and a long line of voters waiting to get in to cast their ballots. we are seeing the lines all over the tri-state area. particularly after work. it's a heavy voting time. and this is happening in collegeville. now we want to show you a picture of part of our building here on city avenue. this is channel 6 lit up in red, white and blue to salute this election day. the patriotic view can be seen from the street on city avenue and monument road. we are in a patriotic mood. >> that is right and the people waiting in line if they are there for a long time. the good news is the weather is cooperating. it's beautiful out there. speaking of red, white and blue, this was posted to my facebook page by kim, a beautiful picture with red, white and blue, the blue jay sitting with the maple

with the fabulous fall weather, 69 degrees a full 10 degrees above normal. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing no rain out there now, tomorrow some showers and we desperately need the rain. there is still time to vote, with the polling places closing at 8:00, pennsylvania and new jersey and delaware, and temperatures thanks to winds out of the southwest. and increasing cloud cover not falling far and you don't have to bundle up it was cold this morning. tomorrow morning completely different than today. lots of clouds and showers, temperatures where they should be this time of year. in the upper 50s tomorrow. still holding at 50, allentown 54 and cape may 57 and wilmington at. satellite 6 along with action radar showing loads of sunshine today and now the cloud deck is

beginning to advance from the west. it's all ahead of that cold front that does have a ribbon of showers and that will bring us generally some light showers during the day tomorrow. so the morning commute plenty of clouds and temperatures around 50 degrees, 6:00, 48 and 8:00, 50 and some showers moving into the western suburbs in time for the morning commute. future tracker 6 showing at 8:00, south jersey and delaware mainly dry and shower as long i-95 and areas to the north and west they swing through new jersey at lunch time and then in the afternoon, the clouds will be clearing from the northwest to the southeast. by 6:00, just a few showers just hanging along the coast. we are looking at a drop in the bucket generally a .10 inch to .25 inch of rain. behind the system the sunshine is back on thursday. the exclusive accuweather forecast, grab the umbrellas tomorrow you'll need them in the morning into the afternoon, it will be cooler with clouds with a high of 58 degrees, thursday
