southern lehigh high school in center valley. bob you've got the story here. >> reporter: brian and sharrie we have gone all around town and just about everyone we spoke with knew about what has happened here at the school and i'll tell you there are a lot of people who are very hurt over what some of the students have said here. shouting racist slurs down hallways, in the gym and at lunch calling black students cotton pickers, swastikas are carved into bathroom stalls. some students are accused of giving hail hitler signs. the reported racist incidents happening at the southern lehigh high school. a conversation with twenty eight quiet a few neighbors today. this woman michelle is in quite a disbelief. >> i don't believe it. incred will you say. >> reporter: she's lived in the area for 30 years and she's never heard of racism here and it's breaking her

blocks from he was shot. nearby residents were actually following the victim because he smashed into two parked cars while trying to get help. >> i heard a loud crash and then my telephone started ringing and neighbors started knocking on my door and i came out and saw that my vehicle was hit. >> now, police are still investigating a motive but think the gunman opened fire from outside the open passenger window early this morning along salt street in ellicott. the victim was rushed to the hospital but no word at this hour on his condition. >> fire crews worked to battle a stubborn house fire in chester delaware county. chopper6 was over the 2600 block of nolan street as firefighters worked to get to the flames through the roof. the fire started in one house around 10:45 and quickly spread to multiple nearby homes. no word on how it all started. if you saw or smelled smoke near the atlantic city airport today, this is why.

harrison city high school marching band led a short parade in sea isle city. also a wreath ceremony and gun salute in veterans park to thank active military and retired members. down in newark delaware a patriotic display took hours o to create nearly 7,000 flags decorate the north lawn at the university of delaware. the display was set up by rotc members and other student volunteers. each represents the life a service member who lost their life after the september 11th attacks. >> great to see all of those ceremonies passing across the delaware valley. it is time for a check of what's happening on the roads on a friday. >> all right. matt pelman is standing by in the "action news" traffic center getting us home ready for the weekend. hey, matt. >> we sure are and because of the veterans day holiday things were a little bit quieter than normal on the roads this morning brian and sharrie but by now everybody is up and about and out and about and that means we do have some issues like a broken down vehicle here on the roosevelt boulevard extension. this is northbound between

walking into the family dollar in the 6400 block of rising sun avenue in lawndale. he showed a gun to one of the workers behind the counter who quickly handed over the whole cash register. robber grabbed that money and ran off. >> a rowan university student is occurring after his cell phone charger caught fire in his pants pocket. this is what is left of the charger. the students was in the chamberlain students center on the campus in glassboro new jersey when it happened last night around 8 o'clock. the student was taken to kennedy university hospital in washington township for a minor burn on his leg. no word yet on the make or model of that phone. all right. now here's a look at today's closing numbers and the dow still in the green as it is posting its best week since 2011. the dow jones closing up nearly 40 points today, the nasdaq is up more than 28

the northwest and that is going to bring in some very cold air overnight tonight as a cold front has passed through. present winds these are sustained winds, not gusts, 25 in the last hour in philadelphia, 21 in allentown, sustained at 15 in wmington millville 12 in reading and right along the shore winds equally as gusty there in the mid teens. as we look at satellite and radar not only locally but across the united states really nothing going on. kind of eerie to see this in the month of november where there's no big storms brewing. this is some good news for most of us heading into the upcoming weekend some high clouds to the south and some of those clouds from the north but overall they will break apart here tonight. so, for those high school football games looking pretty good here. windy and cold so definitely need to bundle up. wind chills will be in the 30's despite those numbers are in the 40's from your kickoff to the fourth quarter with a temperature right around 41 degrees. then the rest of the overnight as we go into saturday morning it will be 29 in allentown and lancaster, 31 in wilmington,

>> some students in southampton bucks county spent the day listening to stories from some very important visitors. the action cam was at council rock high school south as veterans took meteorologist, david murphy their battlefield stories into the classroom. one of them was 94-year-old he willy soranski who served as a 19-year-old and survived the attack on pearl harbor. >> today a delaware family accept add high school diploma for a purple heart recipient who never had the chance to graduate. they awarded that diploma posthumoly to richard fox grace who left school to join the navy during this his junior year. he and 85 other men died trip ship sank in 1995.

officer and a suspect that ended in gunfire. the traffic stop went from peaceful to violent in the blink of an eye. in haddon township officer along with him. just off route 130 in camden. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic live in our new jersey news room today with the incredible key details and this incredible video. nora. >> reporter: hi there brian. it's pretty compelling video when you watch what happened. it doesn't appear that the officer intentionally fired his weapon rather it went off as he struggled with the suspect. >> shut the car off. >> reporter: it happened in a split second. instead of cutting the engine as the officer asked, the driver of this pickup truck pulls up smashing into nearby cars. the haddon township police officer repeatedly commands 38-year-old edmund brown to get out of the truck. eventually he does with his hands up but instead of getting down on the ground as the officer ordered, brown runs away.

[gunfire] >> reporter: you can hear the officer's weapon goes off after he chases and struggles with brown. they bounce off the car and onto the ground where brown was eventually subdued. it's then they been slot in the leg. >> i didn't realize that it happened the way that it did. >> reporter: amaya lugo and her mother watched the dashcam video for the first time today. >> i just thought the cop shot the guy just out of anger and wanted him to be i didn't know it was like all that happened so the cop had a purpose to pull his gun out. >> reporter: the shooting occurred on october 29th along alabama road off route 130 near the haddon camden border. it started as a traffic stop. brown was pulled over for having a visible handicapped placard in the truck. it's supposed to be taken down while driving. >> oh my god. >> reporter: angela yancy had her car heavily damaged in the incident. after seeing the dashcam video she says she has little sympathy for edmund brown. >> you got shot because you didn't listen. you should have stopped and did what had you to do. now we don't have a car

because he decided he wants to do some dumb stuff. >> reporter: now, brown is being held on $100,000 bail in jail. the officer has been placed on administrative leave that is procedure. and the shooting is being investigated by the camde county prosecutor's office. live in our new jersey news room, i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." video jt when i would nora. thank you so much. philadelphia police are searching for the gunman involved in ahooting. chopper6 over the scene of the 3800 block of north 18th street just before 10:30 this morning. police say t a 34-year-old man was shot and killed. no suspect information has yet been released. he suspectsn newark, delaware, who broke into a home and stole several items. they released this surveillance photo of the four suspects. the burglary happened last night on the unit block of haley's trail in newark's north star neighborhood. once inside, police say the suspects stole electronics, ca cameras caught them using

those stolen cards in wilmington and media. a fire that broke out two days ago in wilmington is still smoldering today. the four alarm fire destroyed an abandoned textile complex along the brandywine river on wednesday morning. it took firefighters seven hours to get it under control and today "action news" was there as the wilmington fire department deployed their drone over the scene to help find those hot spots. still no word yet, though, of what caused the fire in the first place. >> turn nothing to the accuweather forecast. going to get pretty chilly over the next few hours but not for all that long. >> no, temperatures will tumble overnight tonight a cool saturday and a rebound as we go into sunday. as we take a look live up in the poconos lake wallenpaupack you can see quite a bit of activity with strong winds out of the north-northwest 18 gusting over 20 miles an hour

lost about 11 votes. department of elections data shows that benjamin cohen lost to cyril adams by 0.01 percent of total votes cast. results show cohen got more machine votes adams got more absentee vote. the manual recount will take place tuesday morning at the department of elections office in wilmington. democrat phil murphy picked up new endorsement in his bid to become new jersey's next governor. several african-american leaders in south jersey announced their suppomurphy todg atlantic city council president maurice small and councilman frank gilliam. murphy is expected to face some opposition in the democratic primary. no republican has joined this race so far. governor chris christie's term >> philadelphia police are trying to track down two suspects in anobbery spree. they have hit four businesses in just three weeks. minnesota spilling hazardous chemicals and prompting evacuations. a series of train cars jumped off the tracks early this morning. settling in a zigzag pattern across those tracks at least two of the cars were carrying propane and butane. officials went door to door evacuating residents. they also shut down a highway nearby and a local school district had to cancel classes. the good news here is that no one was reported hurt. >> the husband of a california mother who disappeared while out on a jog has passed a lie detector test and is not considered a suspect. sherri pettine was last seen 10 days ago. her husband says he used a app to trace her cell phone. keith is convinced she was taken against her will. >> i'm getting very angry and frustrated and i'm scared for my wife. >> investigators have stopped their search on the grounds but are now examining surveillance footage from cameras and businesses as well

as is our broken down vehicle on the boulevard extension northbound past wissahickon that, too, is now on the shoulder. have a crash in port richmond at al again and memphis. good news with the tacony palmyra bridge earlier police activity that had it closed for over a half hour that is a cleared so the bridge is opened once again and speaking of bridges being opened, yes, indeed, as advertised yesterday, the adams avenue bridge in kressonville reroped today. had been closed since may. first they said a four month project then they said no, going to be a six month project. today it reopened so go ahead and use it adams avenue back in business and that is probably the best news of the afternoon. on the pennsylvania turnpike news is not so g there's an eastbound accident approaching fort washington taking out the right lane. speeds in the teens coming east of valley forge with delays spilling back onto the blue route. westbound you have sun glare and a gaper delay, just 20's coming west of willow grove. still have the crash in christiana along 273 at old baltimore pike and some mass
