it goss on to say that the university is taking every step possible to address both the source of the racist material and the impact it has had on black students on campus. the daily pennsylvanian says black students at penn are reeling. mayor jim kenney has released a statement condemning what he called the racist activity at penn. he said "it is heartbreaking to see this type of activity here in the birthplace of our democracy and the city of brotherly love." there is a town hall going on on campus and we will have that story on "action news" at 11:00. and a high school in the lehigh valley is being rocked by racist behavior tonight. "action news" reporter bob brooks is live at southern lehigh high school in center valley. bob, what's the situation there? >> reporter: well, jim, good evening. i can tell you this is a school in really an area that is stunned by some of the things that have been said and done here. most importantly they are very hurt. and now it has gotten to the

point to where the school administration has stepped in have intervened and they're taking action. racism at their high school by some of their students. this is something a lot of neighbors around the southern hee lie high school are having a tough time coming to grips with. >> i'm very disappointed. >> i think it's horrifying. >> reporter: the outrage over what's detailed in a letter sent out by the school principal via e-mail and published in a local paper. it talks about how students shouted racist slurs towards black and gay students down the hallway in the gym and at lunch calling black students cotton pickers. swastikas carved in bathroom stalls and some students accused of giving hail hitler signs. >> need to be educated about how horrifying this. >> reporter: donna says her husband is jewish. >> you have no idea what it's like to be taken from your home taken from your job your family split apart and somebody saying you're not worthy, you must die. >> reporter: students tell us the school held an assembly last week to address the

issues. the e-mail sent by the principal partially reads, i'm asking that you have some of these conversations with your child at home in support of what we're trying to do at the school. it's my hope that our students will do a better job of respecting one another and accepting each other's differences. i spoke with a few students about what in the world is going on. >> it's terrible. >> it's awful. >> how can you say something like that. >> 33 should be punished somehow. >> reporter: the reaction of this woman when i let her read the letter says it's all about the hurt this has caused this communities. >> my god. i don't believe it. >> reporter: there you can hear some very hurtful reactions from those people. now, the students i spoke with want to reiterate the fact that they think this is a very small number of students who are doing this. this does not represent a large portion at all of the student body and again, they are as disgusted as anyone

"action news" reporter dann cuellar is live at city hall where protestors are supposed to gather tonight. dann a third straight night of demonstrations in philadelphia >> reporter: it looks that way jim. this latest event is sponsored by a group calling itself the dump trump coalition. it's also supposed to include members of the pap chapter of black lives matter. it's supposed to take place right here next to the skating rink at dillworth park which at the present time is filled with families and couples. it reopened today for the season. now, earlier today it was temple university students that took to the streets upset and disappointed about the country's recent election

outcome. marchers say this is their way of voicing their disapproval of president-elect donald trump's victory over hillary clinton. but they also said it was not so much an anti-trump rally but a movement about unity. this march day marks day three as you said of hundreds of anti-trump protestors continue to voice their frustrations last night it was a multi racial feminist group that staged a rally at the municipal services building across the street from city hall. and then later they marched to 30th street station. some saying that they worry that trump will not unite the country but divide it. and now here we are with another protest rally scheduled for here at city hall tonight. we'll be here as it unfolds. live here at city hall dann cuellar channel6 "action news." >> thank you dann. meanwhile president-elect trump has bumped new jersey governor chris christie from the top of his transition team. vice president elect pike --

mike pence will take over that transition job. christie will remain on the team as vice chair including others. the governor's standing has been in question recently after two of his former aides were convicted in the bridgegate scandal. firefighters battled a house fire in that chester delaware county late this morning. crews responded to the 2600 block of nolan street at 10:45. the flames and smoke spread to adjoining homes. there were no reports of any injuries. firefighters haven't the blaze. yet what sparked an overturned truck shut down a couple of lanes on the pennsylvania turnpike in bensalem this afternoon. the accident happened shortly after 12:30 in the eastbound lanes. pennsylvania state police say that the truck spilled its load of dirt just after the toll near exit 351. there's no word yet what caused the accident. fortunately the driver wasn't hurt. dashcam video is providing more information about a police-involved shooting late

last month in the city of camden. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has that story. >> i just thought the guy -- the cop shot the guy just out of anger. >> reporter: but when maya saw this dashcam video of the october 29th shooting in front of her house she changed her mind. this is what it looked like on alabama road in camden when 38-year-old edmund brown took off during a traffic stop crashing into a car across the street. a haddon township police officer gets commands him to come out of the car but instead of following directions to get down on the ground brown runs offer as the officer chases him his weapon discharges. [gunfire] >> he shot me. >> reporter: the officer holsters his gun and struggles to get control of brown who was eventually wrestled the to the ground. it wasn't until after that they realized brown had been shot. >> the cop pulled the guy over end kept going. he stopped and then kept going. common sense to stop if a cop pulls you over you stop and do what he tells you to do.

even i know that and i'm 13. >> reporter: the crash left angela yancy's white mitsubishi a mangled mess. when she saw the dashcam video of what happened she also had harsh words for edmund brown. >> you got shot because you didn't listen. you should have stopped and everything could have been prevented. now we screen car. >> reporter: as is procedure the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave while the camden county prosecutor's office investigates this use of force. edmund brown was treated for his gunshot wound and released. he's now being held in jail on $100,000 bail facing a list of charges including a weapons charge with a loaded .357 magnum found in the truck at. >> you get the whole view of it. can't lie there. cops can lie, gentleman can't lie. can't lie 'cause youot the stuff on video. >> reporter: in camden, nora muchanic channel6 "action news." >> people gathered at the tomb of the unknown soldier of the revolutionary war in center
