after black freshmen appeared on a grotesque chat session. a racist attack that has shaken the penn campus to it's core. jeff chirico is live on the penn campus at 36th and walnut. you have the full story. >> reporter: most of all the black freshmen received it on a social media app. some of it made reference to donald trump. >> i felt scared. i didn't know where it's coming from. >> reporter: this is one of those added to a racist group chat aimed at black penn students. mudmen included racial slurs. >> they made an event on the caller enradar saying it is lynch day. >> a number of the students targeted gathered at a private

meeting. outside, hundreds marched on the campus for the protest ch. >> one of the last places i would expect that. >> disgusting and vile. >> reporter: it was created by a user named daddy trump. >> there was a message about trump. >> reporter: they called it repugnant and said we are angry and saddened it was directed to our students or anyone. the people responsible are reprehensible. the mayor said it is heart breaking to see this in the city of brotherly love. police are working to determine who created the account. some feel the presidential election em boldined those with these thoughts. >> someone is in charge that shares the same morals. they are confident with

trump's adult children. he's been replaced by vice president-elect mike pence. there are reports trump heard from congressional leaders in washington that pence would be a better choice. meanwhile, donald trump may be softening his stance on obamacare. he told the wall street journal he would consider keeping parts of the health care law. trump told the paper he favors keeping protections for people with pre-existing conditions and extending coverage for young adults under their parents insurance. a young woman was killed tonight crossing lehigh avenue in the west kensington section of philadelphia. the 23-year-old woman was struck by a red honda civic at 6:00. philadelphia police say the victim was not crossing at the light. they say the driver is cooperating fully and was not impaired. dashcam video obtained shows the moments leading up to a hadden

township police officer shooting a driver during a traffic stop in camden october 29th. he hits the gas and carries the police officer with him. he gets out instead of getting on the ground as ordered. the man takes off running. the officer gives chase. you will hear his gun discharge once.38-year-old edmond brown h shot in the leg. he is out of the hospital but held on $100,000 bail. the officer is on administrative leave while authorities investigate his use of force. president obama used today to call for unity. he went to arlington national cemetery, noting veterans day comes after political campaigns, after election day. obama said the american instinct

is to find strength in our common creed and forge unity from our great diversity. 11 gun salute rang out at the philadelphia vietnam veterans memorial to honor the sacrifices made by our troops. they placed wreaths in memory of the 648 philadelphians. they built a monument on the south side of the grounds. the largest -- hundreds lined the streets to salute veterans including those who served in world war ii. among them, 91-year-old howard turner who helped chase the nazis.
