after months of battling with the now president-elect, she's revealing new details of their rocky relationship. she's also opening up about her claims of sexual harassment as her star was rising at fox news. here's my "nightline" coanchor dan harris. >> he was so very focused on me that i became the story. you never want to be the story when you're a news person, you want to be covering the story. >> reporter: it was one of the most talked-about moments of the presidential campaign, megyn kelly versus then candidate donald trump. >> you've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals. >> reporter: the fox news anchor and host of "the kelly file" found herself in the middle of a very public battle. >> what i say is what i say. and honestly if you don't like it i'm sorry. >> reporter: a torrent of insults followed. trump calling kelly a bimbo, unprofessional, and crazy. >> you know, you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her --

wherever. >> i was referring to nose, ears, they're very common statements and only a deviant would think of what people said. >> reporter: now trump is president-elect and megyn kelly is speaking out about that time in her life in her new book "settle for more." she sat down with my colleague abc news chief anchor george stephanopoulos. >> there's no question that donald trump is thin-skinned and he can be mean-spirited. he can be vindictive. but my own experience with him proves that he's able to let things go if he so chooses, right? he came after me like a dog with a bone for nine months. but finally when i went to see him at trump tower, and believe me i was not conciliatory toward him, we got past it. i think he has a magnanimous piece of him. he has a charming piece to him as well. and while i think trump doesn't like when it he feels attacked, if he feels like you're open-minded or at least neutral toward him, he becomes a bit more open-minded. >> reporter: kelly recounts just how intense her feud with trump

became, writing that online, angry, threatening messages were ever high where, i would spend many days of the coming months accompanied by security. >> you had a tough conversation with your daughter yeardley. she said she was afraid of him. >> i had never revealed to him any of the things trump had done, president-elect trump had done. but she is 5 and she hears things in this world. one of the lowest points was when she came home and asked me what a bimbo was. >> reporter: kelly and trump eventually buried the hatchet during a meeting at trump tower. >> what did you say, what did you do? >> the actual meeting was off the record. so i don't want to get into the specific content. but i went over there. i walked in. and he gave me a nice greeting. he hugged. >> he hugged you? how did you accept that? >> i talk about it in the book, that it was bizarre. right? to be hugging this man who had tried to torment me for nine months. and who had endangered my security. but i accepted it for the gesture it was, which i think

was a goodwill gesture to try to say, if not i'm sorry, then, let's move on. >> reporter: kelly now weighing in on one of trump's most controversial moves since winning the election, the appointment of steve bannon as senior strategist and counsel to the president. bannon, formerly head of the website breitbart, has been criticized for the racist, misogynist, and white nationalist views espoused on the website, headlines like "birth control makes women unattractive and crazy." "hoisted high and proud, the confederate flag proclaims a glorious heritage." former republican national committee chairman reince priebus will be chief of staff. kelly says bannon may wield the real power. >> i think steve bannon, though he is a controversial figure, has advised donald trump very well. you remember trump's campaign was flailing until bannon came in, a guy who doesn't run political campaigns but who completely understands these working-class americans who have had it with washington.

>> what do you say to critics who say this is bringing a white supremacist into the white house? >> i don't think there's evidence of that. >> breitbart headlines? >> the breitbart headlines, they're absolutely controversial. but what his defenders say is he's not responsible for every single headline that went up while he was the executive chairman, and that website is known for being provocative. now it definitely appeals to a segment of the so-called alt right which includes some white supremacists, but i don't know that you could tar the entire team with that brush. >> i'ming ing mmen began kelly >> reporter: in 12 years at fox news medical began kelly has become one of their most popular questions -- >> tell me how it was fair. >> reporter: she was groomed by former fox news chairman roger ailes. this year when her former colleague gretchen carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against ailes, kelly came

forward to say she too had been a victim of ailes. >> i attributed it to he was interested in me. he was having marital difficulty, perhaps he was just interested in having an extramarital affair. >> he was explicit about that? >> as explicit as you could be. it was very on the nose. and then it culminated in a physical attempt to be with me. which i rejected in his office. and then i contacted a lawyer. >> he touched you? >> he tried to kiss me three times. so i rejected that. and when i rejected that, he asked me when my contract was up. as soon as i left his office i called a lawyer. and i did bring the matter to a supervisor at fox news. >> years ago? >> years ago when it happened to me. >> reporter: in a statement released through his attorneys, ailes saying, i categorically deny the allegations megyn kelly makes about me. i worked tirelessly to promote and advance her career. as she admitted to charlie rose. watch that interview then decide for yourself. my attorneys have restricted me from commenting further so

suffice it to say no good deed goes unpunished. >> i really care about roger. and he's been nothing but good to me. he's been very loyal. and he's had my back. >> reporter: that interview with charlie rose happened in october 2015. in it, kelly had nothing but high praise for her former boss. >> how do you square that with what you're writing now? >> both things can be true. a woman can be harassed, then go on to have a good working relationship with the man harassing her. that is what happened in my case. we went on to have a healthy working relationship. what he said about promoting me and having my back the next several years is true. and it was one of the reasons why even i found it hard to believe that he was a serial harasser, george, when the lawsuit broke and then women started coming forward anonymously. >> did any part of you think, looking back, you should have come out earlier publicly? >> it's hard to say no to that because i now know the number of women who were targeted and it's disturbing. but realistically, that would

already an old pro. meet america's only female quintuplets ever. 18-month-old riley, parker, ava, hazel, olivia. their 5-year-old sister blake and stay at home mom danielle busby. >> hey, princess, a good day? look at all your sisters pick you up today. >> reporter: danielle and her husband adam, along with their six daughters and female dog, are the stars of tlc's "outdaughtered." >> my everyday car right here called the bus bus. we can fit 12 in here. but we kind of take out a seat here and the two back there just for storage. >> reporter: the bustling texan family gives new meaning to going big. >> so we have this six-seater stroller. it is about 90, 95 pounds to push. then you put about 100 pounds of baby. so i'm literally pushing 200 pounds. so this is the laundry room.

it literally will hold two king comforters so i can literally put four of these havers in for one load. >> reporter: even a diaper change isn't simple. >> when i change one, i change all. >> reporter: now we're on a journey with them as they prep for their first flight with all six girls to new york city. >> just logistically, it's a logistic nightmare. >> reporter: which danielle seemingly has under control. >> so it's like this is tuesday. tuesday, here's blake's outfit. parker's outfit. hazel's. we're there six days which means one outfit per day, 36 outfits just for one day. that's one outfit per day. plus pjs, another outfit per day, times six. >> reporter: traveling for eight doesn't come without its hiccups. check-in is early and traveling with them, their grandparents, a family friend, one adult per child. and a reality tv crew.

and in a moment, seemingly made for reality tv cameras and ours, a bag goes missing. >> sounds like we have six bags, there's only five. where's blake's backpack? there should have been six. little backpacks on the thing. i'm going to be so mad if we left that. >> did it get on the bus whenever we left? >> i don't know, you put all those in the back of the van. >> you're looking at me like i did it. >> i know, but i didn't check everything because y'all said you had everything that was out there. hey, let me get it, okay? don't cry. we're going to get it, okay? it's got all our stuff in it, okay? i still have my ipad you can play. >> reporter: the babies quickly follow suit. >> everybody has a pacifier in their bag. >> reporter: as stressful as this seems, the couple of ten years are exactly where they want to be, following years of

infertility, the couple turned to iui, intrauterine insemination. it took two years to conceive blake. when she was 3 years old they decided to give it another try. they got pregnant on their second round. >> so let's fast forward to your next ultrasound where you see? >> i could see it, there's three in there. >> then oufs blue he goes, whoop! >> literally. just like hiding. >> here's like, there's one more here. >> now you've got four. >> four, and one at home, yes. that really kind of changed the game of, this is going to be interesting. >> reporter: the couple broke the news to family and friends, started a blog to keep them all updated, and ten days later returned for a checkup. >> right as they're turning on the machine i reach over, get her situated, grab my coffee. and as i'm turning, i'm looking up at the big screen. and i saw it. saw exactly what she saw. i knew exactly what i was looking at.

>> he drops his jaw. >> i jumped, coffee went all over the place, i looked right at danielle. huge eyes. we're both just completely shocked. like, no way we're seeing what we're seeing. >> reporter: one of the quads had split into identical twins. there were now five babies. while they were pregnant, the busbies' blog was discovered by reality television. at 28 weekth when the quints were delivered -- >> have a half dozen girls now. >> reporter: they were literally born stars. >> good morning, olivia. >> every day with the quints is an adventure. >> reporter: debuting its second season tonight, it's the newest high multiple show to captivate america. but the couple is unconcerned about the fates of some other reality tv families. >> bye-bye! we're not them. you know, we know what holds our relationship together.

and we know what our relationship is centered around. which is christ. >> you'll be okay? >> we'll be perfectly fine. >> reporter: most days the family has help handling the girls, either from a sitter, family, or friends. >> i can't keep up with daily activities that have to be done as a wife and mom. so that gives me time to kind of keep up with other things and pay bills on time. >> reporter: tonight, though, on the eve of the family trip to new york, she's taking care of dinner solo. >> i don't like to cook at all. if there was one thing i could wish for, it would be a chef. >> reporter: so it's spaghetti -- >> y'all love spaghetti. >> reporter: and oatmeal followed by pajamas and dad's heroic return. by 7:00 p.m. the babies are in bed for the night. >> rock them. they never go to sleep and we would never get to sleep. >> reporter: but even a good night's rest doesn't help when things start going wrong while
