goes into effect later tonight at 7:00 p.m. and lasts through tomorrow and tomorrow night. we'll see wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour. they are going to be the winds of change. so right now we're starting off with temperatures in the 30s in some of the suburbs, it's a chilly start, 36 in allentown. 37 in poconos. 40 in trenton. 35 in millville. 40 in wilmington. 45 degrees right now in center city. let's look at the satellite and radar, bright sunshine out here, we'll have a pretty start to the day with lots of sunshine. you can see the clouds filling in from the west, the powerful front with showers and periods of rain mixing in out to the west. that front is moving in tonight. it's going to be a huge weather changer for us. let's bring in hour by hour, 9:00 a.m., pretty sunshine 46. 11:00 a.m., 53 it's a warm day ahead. 1:00 p.m., 67 degrees well above average. 3:00 p.m., 71. that's the high today. it's still going to be nice and dry at 3:00 p.m. with clouds building in.

5:00 p.m., 61 degrees, the rain arrives so we get showers tonight and tonight and tomorrow get a little snow in the poconos. serious change coming your way. i'll explain it in the seven-day forecast, there's a lot to talk about with the weather, gray, that's coming up in just a moment. >> new for you this morning, a man walking along the boulevard was hit and killed when police say for some ron he stepped into the -- some reason he stepped into the road. this happened at the bustleton and the boulevard in northeast philadelphia. medicine i cans rushed a 4 -- medics rushed a 43-year-old man to the hospital where he was pronounced. the driver stopped at the scene. philadelphia police are looking for a driver who sped off after hitting and killing a girl walking home from school this happened at 63rd and landsdown avenue in the overbrook section. the little girl was thrown 90 feet. she was laying in the street.

>> i saw a book bag, i figured it was a child that was hit boy a car. >> one witness said two men tried to chase after the driver, but lost him. the striking vehicle was described as a gray or silver nissan ultima or maxima. the treanl -- the tragedy has rekindled long-running concerns howfts drivers go in the -- how fast the drivers go in the area. if you see runners at the philadelphia marathon wearing red shorts it's in memory of a long-running athlete. >> reporter: he it was a delaware valley legend, john shultz is a running icon. he was home from choir practice not far from his wilmington home he was hit and killed by a pick up truck on the way. >> he was this light on the trail. >> reporter: that's elaine and ron horn they own a company

called pretzel city sports that organizes run. >> john always had the attitude even though he may be slow and last he'll get there. >> reporter: should didn't pick up the sport until he was 59. the story is he ran home from work and the rest is history. the couple said he would stay at their home in reading while competing up their way. they said it was a joy to watch him run and amazing to spend time around him. >> even the people who didn't know him knew him from his red shorts. he was the old guy in the red shorts. >> john i'll never, ever forget you. >> reporter: now, hundreds maybe more plan on horn him during the marathon this weekend they will be running in the short red little running shorts. reporting along the benjamin franklin parkway, bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> 7:04 police station take a

possible break in a case of purse snatching across the area. we know a man and woman are in police custody accused of stealing purses in three counties. they are arrested thursday night as they tried to steal a purse in acme in northeast philadelphia. that's according to police. they had been linked to similar crimes in hatfield and paoli. the list of charges include theft and criminal conspiracy. the judge who presided over the jerry sandusky criminal case has removed himself from the appeal. the judge said he stepped away because lawyers from the penn state former football coach questioneds integrity. they cite his role in a december 11 meeting at a hotel before he waived his preliminary hearing. they claim waiving the hearing was a critical mistake by his previous defense team. people in hamilton township

neighborhoods some of their children could fall victim to the same thing. >> reporter: this morning police are making an intensive effort to locate the driver and car involved in the fatal hit hit-and-run. the car will have significant front end damage. anyone with information call police. dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> a woman is dead after her car collided with a tractor-trailer. it happened in south jersey overnight. police say the woman's car slammed into the back of the parked big rig on the southbound side of 295 in cherry hill at 2:30 a.m. the tractor-trailer was sitting on the shoulder at the time of the incident. it took rescue crews nearly a half-hour to free the woman from the wreckage. she was rushed to cooper university hospital where she died from her injuries. a chimney is likely the source of a fire that destroyed a home in washington township. flames met firefighters responding to corvis court at
