not sure you caught that last couple of seconds. the majority of 30,000 contestants are getting ready to take off. we're out on the benjamin franklin parkway, the starting line, 9 runners headquarters is down at eakens oval. this is the scene an hour ago before it got light out. thankfully it did. the goal for people they were huddling in tents and huddling around each other, sharing body heat anything they could to combat the cold weather before they started running this morning. the only way to beat the cold is to run as fast as you can. >> it could be worse, right. it could be snowing or raining. >> i'm sure the cool will feel very good when i am running. >> i wasn't sure what it was going to be like, i'm glad i did dress for it. >> take it slow and try to finish and have fun.

thanksgiving. the father and the children were arriving back from a night out around midnight and called 911 immediately. unfortunately firefighters could not stop the fire for ravaging the house. the search is on for the cause of the blaze. the action cam was at the firehouse at chestnut and north 55th street where a critically wounded man was banging on the door trying to get help. he was shot in the chest. he was shot walking down 5th street south of market. he is in the hospital in surgery. there were no arrests. a mother and father are talking about the hit-and-run that took their 8-year-old daughter. the driver responsible is on the run. the young victim was identified as sanna powell hit by a carat carat -- a car at 63rd and

landsdown. police believe the car that hit the girl was a gray or silver nissan or maxima. her parents talked tows about the unimagable final moments. >> she fought. >> i said hold on, hold on, baby, daddy's here, mommy is here, please hold on. >> parents are urging anyone with information to come forward and call police. >> new jersey chris christie is slated to meet today with president-elect donald trump. it will happen at trump's golf club in north jersey. christie helped lead his campaign but had a taken a back seat since the election. when asked if the bridgegate trial would disqualify him from being involved in the election. he said we like chris a lot.

our radar site that's not reaching ground. i want to take you farther north and west. our street element view. when i click in i want to go to the poconos, there's snow showers in the poconos, mixed precipitation north of harrisburg because of lake-effect snowshowers moving through. let's go live outside, it's a beautiful shot. we're seeing clouds and sunshine, as well. a gorgeous shot of the sky cover as we head out the door this morning. if you're going to enjoy it, bundle up to be able to do that. let's look at satellite and radar. the snow showers we saw yesterday to the north and west, that's dealing with the cold front that's well off the coast. what we're seeing now on the radar are lots of clouds north and west, can you see the bands of snow? they are light and quick, they are lake-effect snow coming down with the strong gust with winds

as the moisture comes off the great lakes. they are predictable. we're not talking about a storm system coming through. in the poconos you might see a quick burst of snow. in the lehigh valley you might sue that he, not amounting to anything. the day is basically a dry one other than the snow showers to the north and west. let's run down what to expect today. the big deal is the strong winds and how it will affect the temperatures. afternoon windchill in the mid 30s. in philadelphia we might see a stray sprinkle around the i-95 corridor. we're dry in south jersey and delaware. in the lehigh valley we can see snow showers with the lake-effect snowshowers moving through. it's most evident in the poconos. we can see an inch to two inches of snow of lake-effect snow moving through. let's talk about the

will come from. a garden in point breeze is helping one group of people 30 help themselves. ethnic tension drove this family out of boton. they are growing on a 2 1/2 acre lot at 26th and dicken street. the national services center helps groups refugees resettle and teaches them english and gets them involved in the garden. they grow carrots and peppers anderbs and special vegetables that give them a taste of home. the. >> we learn how to plant. >> reporter: by learning to grow their own food they can eat

we're seeing a snow shower. yesterday in the poconos we had a trace of snow, it's only a little bit, but it's the first day, so we thought we would show it to you. we have lake-effect snow with strong gusty winds pulling the moisture off the great lakes. until tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. we have a wind advisory for the entire region where winds will gust up to 40 miles per hour. currently they are gusting in the 20s. in wilmington, wed 5 # mile an hour. -- we had 52-mile an hour in wilmington, allentown, 45. everybody throughout the entire region has been experiencing the gusty winds. that's making the temperatures so much colder. feels like 14 in the poconos. 26 in allentown. 27 in reading, 30 in philadelphia. 29 in millville. and atlantic city. what a change from yesterday, when we were in the 70s. the actual temperatures will be

bob brooks. >> 7:34. new this morning, a man is in critical condition after getting shot in the back on 200 block of west cornwall street. the man was shot during an attempted robbery. we know he is being treated at temple hospital. police have not said if they have any suspects. happening right now philadelphia police are looking for the person who shot a man on a street corner overnight. the 33-year-old victim was hit three times in the stomach at bridge and hawthorne and frankford. police rushed him to hanheman university hospital. he is in critical condition. they are trying to sort out why this individual was shot. new this morning, police are looking for the suspect who beat up a man in the parx casino parking lot. the action cam at the scene in bensalem, bucks county. officers got a call at 3:45 a.m. that a man was lying in the parking lot.
