fiance. just one of the many memories made here for so many at the philadelphia marathon. 30,000 runners and cold cold weather. the philadelphia marathon is never easy especially this year. some collapsed when they finished despite the cold they finished. that includes the women's champ 26-year-old taylor ward from alabama. >> the course was beautiful. scenic. i enjoyed it. >> reporter: the men's winner broke the record the first four men to finish all break it. the cold not a problem for the pros. >> i ran through i tired but -- >> reporter: no doubt if you finish the run you're a winner. so many are today. no one more deserving than this man and his son who needs a little help from dad to get to

under other leaders to give donald trump a chance. trump blasted trade deals as bad for american workers. he believes that trump will realize that free trade benefits the u.s. by spreading our goods further. police are looking for science after an an attack on a man outside the parx casino. they found a man lying on the ground in lot c after receiving reports of a fight. he was taken to the hospital in stable condition. a man was shot and left for dead during an attempted robbery early this morning. the man was shot in the back on west cornwall street at 2:30 a.m. police took him to temple university hospital in critical condition. there are no suspects in the attack. happening right now the separate search continues for a driver who hit and killed a young girl in overbrook as police try to track that person down. young victims family and friends held a vigil in her honor.

a veteran firefighter died in savannah georgia while trying to rescue victims from the collapse of a dock. the dock connects passengers to a river ferry suddenly gave way. cell phone video shows victims scrambling to safety. the firefighter had an undisclosed medical condition.

it's a huge change with the cold front that moved through. so the cold front moved through last night. those were the snow showers you got last night in spots. now we see the clouds picking up showers here and there and lake-effect snow bands moving through. we don't have a storm system we're tracking, it's the lake-effect snow bands that will give us a chance for the snow showers up to the north and west. afternoon windchills in the mid 30s at best today. its a cold, blustery day. in philadelphia, might see a stray sprinkle. temperatures are above freezing, so it will be a sprinkle in philadelphia. in the poconos, that winter weather advisory continues. they will have two to four inches of snow when you start counting from yesterday two days-worth of snowfall. 2 to 4 inches in the poconos. you compare that to 72 degrees yesterday. it's a big change. 2:00 p.m., 46 that's the high today. lots of clouds, a peek of sunshine or two.

after months of training 30,000 runners took to the streets of philadelphia. the big topic was probably the windy, cold weather bob brooks is live along the trail. bob, the cold was not that bad because one couple said they got engaged today right? >> reporter: they did. it was amazing to see we'll visit that in just a second, but first i want to show everyone the finish line. the marathon started at 7:00 a.m. this morning. we are 5 1/2 hours in, the kind of of people that are finishing right now they are not your pros or avid runners who are outthere doing marathons all the time. these are people, like this gentleman right here. who knows what age he is, he is so happy because he earned this one. again, 5 1/2 hours. it is blustery and windy cold,

as did the first four men who broke a record. 26-year-old woman from alabama won the women's team. it takes 4,000 volunteers to make this happen. bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> congratulations to all the participants out there bob thank you. members of the gold star family say they felt hurt and disrespected when they were booed on a flight when they went to pick up their son's remains. the sergeant was killed in afghanistan. passengers booed the family on the first leg of the flight to dover air force base. the airlines let them get off first to catch their next flight but fellow passengers were not happy. >> and to hear the reaction of the flight being delayed because of a gold star family and the first class cabin being that, was really upsetting, and it

made us cry more. >> sergeant john perry was killed by a suicide bomber last saturday. perry's father said he died trying to protect other members of his units and likely prevented many more cawrnlts. a family -- casualties. a family is forced to find another place to stay after coming home and finding their house burning. they say they were met by flames when they opened the front door. that's when they called 911. it took an hour to bring the fire under control. the home was gutted. there were no injuries reported. a man shot in the chest was able to make it to a west philadelphia firehouse for help. the victim managed to make it to the firehouse at 55th and chestnut. medics took him to penn presbyterian hospital where he needed surgery. so far no arrests have been made. more than a million people have signed up for 2017 coverage under the affordable care act.

>> jim kenny's machine to rebuild -- plan to rebuild philadelphia passion and rec centers. the penn foundation said it will donate $100 million to the cause. saying public spaces are a place to improve health and connect with neighbors and other peoples. they hope the rebuild project will become a national model. four day septa strike caused a spike in the air pollution in philadelphia. the philadelphia health department said averages leverages of fine pollution particles quadrupled as people turned to cars to get around.
