day and if you spent anytime outside today you likely wanted to get indoors as soon as possible it was raw. wind chills in the lower 30's and wind advisory remains in effect. meteorologist melissa magee with our first check of the accu weather forecast, melissa. >> yeah, walter and sarah a dose of reality for second half of the weekend and contrast from the day, yesterday. yesterday we had a high, early high of 72, and right now thumbs are only in the 40's, and 30's. peak wind gusts was other part of the story to day. gustness wilmington 51 miles an hour, million will had a gusts at 49 miles an hour, philadelphia clock nothing at 46. 45-mile per hour wind gust in atlantic city. up in the poconos we had a wind gust of 43 miles an hour. wind advisory stays up until 6:00 a.m. monday for delaware and lehigh valleys because wind, once again, will be gusting from 40 to 45 miles an hour. here's the other change, it is about 15 degrees colder in the city then it was this same time yesterday. 17 degrees colder up in the

poconos. up the coast from ac to wildwood it feels like it is 16 degrees colder then it was just 24 hours ago, and that chillies sticking around for rest of tonight. we have got that stiff westerly wind. when you factor in the wind with the combination of the air temperatures it only feels like 34 in philadelphia, and 29 in the current wind chill number in reading. just teens up in the poconos, 15 degrees there. feeling like 34 degrees at the coast in cape may. we will talk about what we can expect right through tomorrow, those winds stay blustery, and gusting from 40 to 45 miles an hour, wind chills once again overnight tonight, and even as you wake up tomorrow morning in the 20's and 30's, is there a winter weather advisory for poconos because they could pick up a additional one to 2 inches of snow. we have changes to track throughout the rest of the week. details coming up with the full and exclusive accu weather forecast, sarah. >> melissa, thank you. that wind sent a large tree falling on to henry avenue today right on top of the moving car. the tree crushed the front of the vehicle, trapping a woman

"action news" reporter janet reyes is live in roxborough with the full details, janet. >> reporter: well, sarah the question many resident here are asking is what are the odd. take a live look behind me here. this is what is left after that large tree toppled over, crushing a park car, but also, crashing on to, a passing car, trapping a woman inside, witnesses say she is lucky to be alive. >> during the day, except for a giant tree on top of two cars. >> reporter: just like that a quiet sunday in this roxborough neighborhood turned into one resident won't soon ever forget. >> i was surprised to hear the person was alive. >> reporter: around 10:00 o'clock this morning on the 7900 block of henry avenue neighbors woke up to this, a giant tree, crushing two vehicles. >> i was wondering if anybody was hurt, because it looked pretty bad. >> reporter: one was park, the the other was a passing car simply there when the tree

came crashing down trapping a 74 year-old woman inside. >> people were saying, we, like we could hear her because we know she's alive, and then, that is when we got fire trucks in here to get her out. >> reporter: people watched in disbelief wondering if the the woman inside could possibly survive. what they saw crushed any glimmer of hope. >> just didn't necessity how to react. they were in tears. everyone was just like, you know, just so shock. >> reporter: police and fire fighters responded and soon rescued would the man taken to einstein medical center. >> she's in stable condition. >> that is wonderful news. >> reporter: yeah. >> yes, good to hear. >> reporter: though it is good news for many, it is hard to believe that anyone could have gotten out of this, live. >> so, it is definitely a god thing the fact that the person, didn't get killed because that tree was, so big. >> reporter: as melissa was saying there have been strong winds, really throughout this day, but resident hearsay

there are no indications that this tree was weak, or vulnerable when this all happened. reporting live from roxborough, janet reyes for channel six "action news". >> here's hoping she fully recovers. thanks, janet. developing news out of san antonio, texas where a police officer was shot and killed writing a traffic ticket. it happened outside police headquarters and tonight gunman remains on the loose. investigators say the officer pulled over a vehicle and was inside a patrol car writing a ticket when another vehicle pulled up behind him. that driver then got out, walked up to the patrol car window and then shot the officer in the head. that office are has been identified as detective benjamin marconi, 50 years old and 20 year veteran of the force. world news sunday will have latest on the search for gunman and more on the officer coming up on "action news" after 6:30. police are piecing together a possible burglary at philadelphia city hall. it was just before noon time when a maintenance worker saw two men climbing in the window of the building. hall the with the very latest on the investigation, christie. >> reporter: well, sarah police say it is unclear if the pair took anything but officers were focusing on this wing of city hall moments after the incident occurred. now this happened in broad daylight at a time when there are tons of people here in the area, especially those, attend toking the very popular christmas village. police come through the empty corridors of the city hall sunday when maintenance worker reportedly saw two men entering the building through a window on the broad street side. work's parentally yelled at the pair before running to get security and by the time he returned, the duo had disappeared. >> are you serious? i had no idea. >> reporter: incident had residents and out of towners investigating the popular christmas village that lines outskirts of the building just stunned. >> just enjoy. >> so many people down here and there is security every where, so it is really secure. >> reporter: first floor bathrooms are opened to the

today's cold, and wind was not enough to deter tense have of thousands of runs who spent months training for the philadelphia marathon. they laced up their running shoes and layered up bright and early this morning. for two of those run tours day was the beginning of the whole new adventure. here's "action news" reporter bob brooks. >> reporter: before any running took place, getting warm was priority number one. >> it is a cold, windy one. >> reporter: philadelphia marathon saw participants in tents, dressed in many, many layers and braving the wind. >> it should down as the sun comes up. >> reporter: so you hope. >> we're hoping, definitely. >> reporter: that hope never materialized, once the race started the wind was still whipping but runners didn't seem to care, in fact, the man who won broke the course record, at two hours, 16 minutes and 52 seconds. the young woman who won also went fast at two hour, 36 minutes, and 23 seconds. >> i'm surprised i kept my hat on the whole way, but it

a early thanksgiving day dinner. annual event was hosted by transit agency and philadelphia corporation for aging. it is a chance for these seniors to make new friend and kick off the holiday season. and some of america's new residents have their first taste of the thanksgiving day holiday today. old pine community center in center city philadelphia hosted an annual refugee thanksgiving day dinner this afternoon. in addition to turkey and traditional trimming there was a mix of international cuisine. organizers say that they wanted to, show how america is truly a melting pot. well, cold weather is here but thanks to the generosity of others, hundreds of kids in delaware will have warm coats this winter. today in wilmington cameron hand land foundation handed out 300 coats during their annual give away. cameron was shot and killed ten years ago. handland's family says he was passionate about education, helping others, so they honored his legacy by giving back through this program. and dozens of alumni from
