actually melted cars that were parked across the street. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic is live at the unit block of weinberg place in trenton. nora, what's the latest there? >> reporter: jim, the cause of the fire is still unclear but the damage it did is not. it effectively wiped out an entire side of the block here and what it did was it left nothing behind, a row of burned out houses that are damaged beyond repair. this is what it looked like this morning when a fast moving fire spread through a row of homes on weinberg place in trenton destrnine houses. >> i kept smelling something and when i looked to the window it was my neighbor house was on fire. >> i lost everything. i got -- i -- my life is -- is good. my family -- my husband is okay. >> reporter: mutual aid call was put in and firefighters from area towns joined the trenton fire department trying to fight back the flames. they were delayed by live

downed power lines in the street. utility crews were called in to cut the power and gas. that delay along with the fierce winds blowing helped the flames to spread. >> the wind can be a factor. a lot of houses were connected with a common area above the second floor to the ceiling that is an open area. >> reporter: let me give you an idea of the intensity of the flames. these cars were parked across the street. right now there's nothing left of them just the shell. two people were injured. the red cross is assisting 28 people from nine families who have been displaced. >> i can replace all the clothes, all the tv's. >> reporter: angelica was with other fire victims today in the storefronts attached to the nearby cosmo market where they were meeting the red crs. neighbors have already started collecting things to help them angelica has lost everything including irreplaceable pictures of her son. >> what hurt me the most is when i went back and his bike

jump from a second story window to safety. >> guy across the street and stuff was falling down. >> the massive flames damaged three homes and a number of one customer was injured when a driver crashed into a mcdonald's restaurant in newark, delaware, this afternoon. it happened just after 2:00 p.m. at route four and harmony road. officials haven't said how badly the customer was hurt. license and inspections responded to determine the status of the building. the mayor of upland borough is in big trouble with the lawton night. he has been charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. answer. >> he was moving show. i think he thought he was getting away fast but he wasn't. >> reporter: melania wright describes the behavior of the man who slammed into her father's parked suv and another vehicle around 3:30 friday morning on 22nd street in chester. it turned out to be this man, police say michael ciach. he was arrested about a block away and they caught him as saying yes i had beers while i was playing pool. in their affidavit of arrest police say he wreaked of alcohol and struggled to stand up straight. one of his long time neighbors in brookhaven is shocked. >> i've never known him to be, you know, a bad person at all. i've known his whole family, so, you know, it's a surprise to us. >> reporter: he was arrested and charged with were dui and leaving the scene of a smash

up he caused. no court date lab set. no one answered the door at his long time home on 11th street in book brookhaven none one saw him around the borough hall where he's a long time political fixture. jim, the the mayor a republican recently lost his bid for a seat at the statehouse in harrisburg. so far today again no comment from him. chester police did find a loaded handgun in his car, a classic revolver. apparently he does have a license to carry. no charges have been filed in that area. live in upland borough delaware county, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news. jim. >> thank you vernon. the man accused of sexually assaulting six sisters waived his preliminary hearing today and will head to trial. lee kaplan made a brief appearance this morning in bucks county court to face charges related to five of his alleged victims. his attorney says kaplan denies any wrongdoing but

waived his hearing because he doesn't want to make the alleged victims testify during the holidays. prosecutors say he fathered two children with a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulted five of her siblings who were gifted to him by their parents. new jersey spent years getting rid of them but penndot now says they may be the intersection of the future in pennsylvania. they are the small traffic circles or the round abouts. "action news" reporter john rawlins has that story. >> reporter: the yellow sign with its circling arrows a warning a round about a small traffic circle is ahead. >> the initial inclination is for someone to say why are you building a traffic circle? didn't we get rid of those. >> reporter: experts say round abouts are not like the large infamous traffic circles of old. their small size means they must be navigated slowly. also incoming traffic is to yield to traffic already in the circle. making once dangerous intersections safer places. >> correct.

on thursday. let's go live to walter perez. walter how are things checking out? >> reporter: well, jim, despite the wind, things are going quite well today. some of the finishing touches being put into place as we have only three days to go before we have a whole lot of fun here on the parkway. it is a philadelphia event like none other, the 6abc dunkin' donuts thanksgiving day parade is now a 97 year tradition. earlier today we caught up with some of the professional dancers you'll see on thursday morning. they were perfecting their routines inside the sheraton in center city. staging manager robby mackey says the final days of preparation are fun but nerve wracking. >> it's a crazy time when you're kind of working up to that very last minute and things get really wild and out of control but something happens when you go on camera and everyone kind of falls into place and yeah gives you a very rewarding feeling at the end. outside the art museum volunteers were setting up the

bleachers and taping down holiday colored streamers up and down the steps. >> we have an incredible team an incredible staff. so, it's all the last minute we started rehearsals last week and everything is on schedule and track and we're ready to go. >> reporter: the one points 4-mile parade route steps off at 20th and j.f.k. to the parkway to the art museum. give you self plenty of time to arrive if you plan on being here in person. there will be no shortage of road closures along with a strong police presence for security. but whether you come into town or watch it on 6abc expect a spectacular show that will once again be capped off with santa claus officially kicking offer the holiday season. parade co-producer todd marcocci says he can't believe santa fits us into his busy special. >> santa is awesome. he has a really cool wife. pretty much whatever i ask santa to do for this parade he exit.

despite the sunshine it is going to be cold. a look at the parade forecast and this is good news-bad news situations. the good news is it won't be windy. winds only five to 10 miles per hour. it will be for the most part dry. could have a scattered shower but the bad news is it won't be all that sunny. lots of clouds. temperatures, though, we've had some parades when we have temperatures in the 20's. temperatures generally in the 40's for the parade so you don't have to bundle up all that much but it won't be a bright and sunny day. wind gusts right now still very gusty. 39 miles an hour in philadelphia, 38 in lancaster, 26 in trenton. cape may 39 -- 30 miles an hour wind gusts so currently the wind chills dropping down into the 20's. so, you definitely do that wants to bundle up if you're heading out tonight. the reason why it's so windy yesterday and today we've got a very strong storm that's right over quebec and you can see it's really just spinning there and that's what's pulling down the wind out of the northwest. also, lake effect snow parts of new york state up to 3 feet
