plat bridge. this is penn rose and island avenue not far from the airport. we are hearing the driver may be trapped and emergency teams are trying to get the person out. you see a large police presence at the scene presumed to protect the cargo inside the armored vehicle. we continue to monitor the situation and we'll bring you updates as we get them from southwest philadelphia. >> in other news, it's as much a part of the thanksgiving holiday as turkey and stuffing. it's about shopping malls and big box stars. black friday is the unofficial start to the holiday season. consumers hope for good deals and retailors are hoping folks are in the mood to spend. walking around the cherry hill mall was a good way to work off thanksgiving holiday calories, "action news" spotted several folks with bags of goodies.

those in delaware were equally excited to get shopping started. it was hard to find a parking spot in the mall today. inside shoppers were looking for the best deals. >> wendy has more on that. good evening. >> well all the crowds here just left. the doors opened at 6:00 this morning and closed at 10:00. the black friday deals were expected to be a huge deal for retailors with half a million people expected through the doors this weekend. black friday shoppers set their alarms. >> early bird gets the worm. >> from target to center city in delaware. >> we have been up all night. still ready to go strong. >> the marathon shoppers were packing the parking lots to get

well. in other news, a neighborhood turned into a shooting gallery tonight with eight homes pierced by bullets. the shooter or shooters are still at large. we have the latest on the investigation. jeff. rick the good news here is that no one was hurt although one couple had a close call when a bullet pierced their window. this is the scene at westminster and fallen earlier this evening, two dozen bullets fired in all. police say someone was likely targeted but there is no known victim at this point. eight homes were hit including one couple at home when the bullets came through the window. >> the glass shattered. me and my old lady hit the floor and eventually checked the house

to be sure everyone was all right. >> police are not saying much about a motivate or suspect. on this thanksgiving weekend, there are many folks counting their blessing again. jeff, "action news." rick? >> tragedy in northeast philadelphia when a man riding a motorcycle died when he hit an suv. the woman riding with him is fieghtding for her life. detectives are investigating what led up to the incident. the driver of the suv was not hurt. >> a shooting in new jersey sent one man to hospital for treatment. this was the scene at 5:00 p.m. along th east federal street. no one has been taken into custody. >> now to the search for a

shooter in south jersey suspected of shooting two brothers early this morning. bob brooks spoke to a man who knew the victims. >> one man is dead. another shot and wounded. they were brothers. the location? the hamilton mall parking lot on one of the busiest days of the year. >> there is no need for that. this is a family place. there are always kids here. it shouldn't happen. >> officials say the victim is a young man from atlantic city, 20-year-old deman cotman. he was shot multiple times near the entrance to maceys. the second victim his brother 26 years old. we spoke to a man that she is he knew deman. >> he was a good guy. i don't know what happened. >> you can see 30 evidence markers placed. lots of shots were fired. >> it's sad.

people come out to celebrate thanksgiving and that happened. >> mall officials say by the time of the shooting they had closed for the night. at this point there is no word on who pulled trigger or why. >> the 20-year-old brother was shot in the leg but is expected to be okay. bob brooks, "action news." >> police have arrested the parents of a two-year-old boy shot by his four-year-old cousin in philadelphia. both 34 face child endangerment and weapon's charges tonight. police say the children were playing in the living room of the family home last night. as santiago was preparing dinner the children got a hold of a .40 caliber handgun. the two-year-old is in critical condition in hospital tonight. >> several rallied outside of

station one in wilmington. they are protesting the closure of the company to save overtime dollars. they say this puts their safety and the safety of the public in jeopardy because they are no, fd to do more with less. this comes two months after two firefighters lost their lives battling a row home fire. >> a montgomery county man met the man he saved in dramatic fashion. last month jim grove pulled off a rare rope rescue of an elderly man in a fire on the new york upper east side. this technique is considered a last resort. he scaled the building with a rope and grabbed the 80-year-old

and landed to the ground where the rope broke. >> one person died in the fire. 15 others were injured including 11 firefighters. as for duffy, he's in a rehabilitation facility but once released, he has nowhere to go. his apartment he lived for 50 years is now gone. the firefighters set up a fund so duffy will once again have a place to call home. >> it was a busy evening for holiday attractions. lots of people came out to check out the light show and a special guest came by to meet and greet fans, santa took special order from kids excited that christmas is almost here. we asked them what the spirit of christmas means to them? >> happiness and joy. >> snow. >> giving presents and getting presents. >> good answers. santa told us he received a lot

westbound near the airport. this happened just after 11:00 tonight. you can see a number of cruisers on the scene, a number of flashing lights there. a police suv is involved here. one civilian was taken into custody. this is a busy area at this hour. there was also an armored truck that overturned at the base of the plat bridge forcing rescuers to attend that scene as well. a number of police officers on the scene of a three vehicle accident that involved a police cruiser southwest philadelphia at the base of the plat bridgeheaded toward the airport. we'll bring you more information as it becomes available to us. >> a manhunt is under way for two potentially dangerous inmates that escaped from a san jose jail on thanksgiving eve. four prisoners cut through bars

we dig into leftovers. a small study finds eating for a week may not be bad as long as you exercise regularly. researchers wanted to know what would happen to people's fatty tissues after a week long blowout. the participants continued to exercise as usual. at the end of the week there was no sign of inflammation in the fatty tissue and no change in glucose as well. what better way to work off dinner than on the ice rink today. that's what folks did in camden. tonight is the first night of skating season here. for those that wanted to spend the night on a non-slippery surface, there was a merry go round and ferris wheel and everyone could enjoy a horse and carriage ride.
